The apocalypse had struck so suddenly that they were already thanking their lucky stars just to have escaped. How could they possibly have gathered supplies while fleeing?
Lin Yi was an exception. He could use Divine Thief while making his escape.
Perhaps because Divine Thief's sequence was so low, it didn't consume much mental energy. As long as he didn't steal anything beyond what he could handle, it barely used any at all.
There had only been two times when he had felt dazed after using Divine Thief.
One was when he stole a screw from another convoy.
Lin Yi still had no idea what that screw was used for.

The loudspeaker atop the modified heavy truck played the announcement on a loop.
People had already crowded around the Small Town entrance.
Many eager people had already begun advancing into the Small Town.
The modified heavy truck led the charge, rumbling like a small monster as it barreled into the Small Town without restraint.
The off-road vehicles followed close behind.
The modified pickup and the other vehicles all followed, not one falling behind.
Lin Yi pedaled his bike-share bicycle into the crowd as well.
The big supermarkets had the most supplies, but they were also the most dangerous.
Most survivors still chose to search the small shops along the roadside.
Of course, even the shadows of those small shops could conceal deadly dangers!
But none of this posed much danger to Lin Yi.
As he walked along, he activated Sequence: Thief.
In the time it took to take a stroll, he had already filled a backpack.
"Hmm..."
Lin Yi glanced at his bike-share bicycle.
"There's still some time. Getting a car would be good, after all."
Without much hesitation, he quickly headed toward the gas station in the distance.
Vehicles were everywhere on the streets, and many still had their keys in the ignition.
They were just missing the most important thing: gasoline.
The gas station wasn't far away.
When Lin Yi arrived, he saw quite a few people getting gasoline.
Liu Ruyan's red sedan stood out among them.
Liu Ruyan had plenty of supplies stocked in her car. Gasoline was more important right now.
When Lin Yi reached the gas station, he didn't see Liu Ruyan in her car. Instead, he saw quite a few figures moving around inside the convenience store beside it.
"Even in the apocalypse, you still have to line up for gas."
Lin Yi couldn't help grumbling.
The instant his gaze swept toward the convenience store, his pupils contracted.
People were still frantically sweeping up supplies.
No one noticed the small, thin figure in the shadows of a corner, clutching a teddy bear and sobbing.
Her snow-white dress was flecked with blood.
Her pale face was buried between her legs.
At first glance, she looked like a child who had been left alone.

Only from Lin Yi's angle could one see that the face she had hidden between her legs had no features!
"Sweetie, did you get separated from your family?"
A caring voice rang out inside the convenience store. A middle-aged woman had noticed her!
The apocalypse had only just begun, and many people still retained their kindness.
Seeing that the girl only sobbed without answering, the woman felt sorry for her and walked over with a piece of candy.
But in the very next instant!
Her jet-black hair abruptly parted.
Her head split in two along her hairline, revealing two rows of vicious teeth running down from the crown!
The woman froze, unable even to react.
Crunch.
The little girl's head shot forward like a ball, tearing off the woman's head and swallowing it in one bite before returning to her body with the woman's head and slowly beginning to chew.
The crunching sounds went on and on.
Some of the more timid people wet themselves in fright.
More scrambled and crawled toward the convenience store's exit.
The Eerie Little Girl's body was tiny, but she chewed very quickly.
Before long, the entire head had been digested.
After digesting it, the little girl lifted her featureless face and stared motionlessly at the fleeing survivors, making no move.
Watching the eerie creature curled up in the shadows, Lin Yi felt relieved. "So eerie creatures really can't move during the day!"
"No. To be precise, they can't be exposed to sunlight."
A familiar voice sounded behind him.
Lin Yi saw that the burly man from earlier was filling up the modified pickup.
He showed no fear whatsoever of the eerie creature inside the convenience store.
Perhaps the sunlight he had mentioned was what gave him that confidence.
Lin Yi didn't understand why the man was so certain, but the eerie creature's every action supported his claim.
"Lin Yi, what are you doing here?"
Liu Ruyan wore a small crossbody bag and carried a red plastic bag in her remaining left hand. Snacks such as chips and jelly cups were faintly visible inside.
Lu Sheng, meanwhile, hurried out with four plastic bags in each hand.
"Oh, Ruyan, didn't I get you some jewelry?"
Grinning, Lin Yi reached into his pocket, and a handful of jewelry appeared in his hand.
"Oh."
Liu Ruyan snatched it away, turned, and went back to her car.
The convenience store had been stripped bare. With the threat of the eerie creature as well, it was now completely deserted.
Some people had already fled the gas station.
But others remained.
They, too, had noticed that the eerie creature couldn't walk in sunlight.
A dozen or so vehicles were still waiting to refuel at the gas station.
The time allotted by the guide was more than enough for everyone to fill their tanks and take some extra along.
Refueling was quick, but with so many people there, Lin Yi only filled one can of gasoline.
"Lin Yi, give me the gasoline."
Lu Sheng walked up to Lin Yi and held out his hand without the slightest courtesy.
Lin Yi handed it over indifferently.

Just then, a large, thick hand patted his shoulder.
Lin Yi had naturally noticed it. Instinctively, he didn't dodge. Turning his head, he saw the burly man looking at him with a serious expression.
Lin Yi looked at him and flashed two rows of white teeth. "Guaranteed. Guaranteed."
"Guaranteed to be kind!"
