Hongjun sought to use the Wu–Demon Calamity to force Houtu to manifest the Six Paths of Reincarnation. His intended outcome was to trap a wisp of her indestructible true spirit within Reincarnation, suppress the Underworld Path into dormancy, prevent the complete Twelve Capital Celestial Evil Spirit Array from being formed, and ultimately destroy both the Wu and Demon clans. He expected this to advance his prospects of merging with the Dao. Chen Xuan’s coexistence with Houtu disrupted that plan, creating a variable Hongjun could not deduce even with the Creation Jade Disk. 5 6 11
