A Real Man Should Pilot a Gundam
As time went on, the number of Onmyoji coming to the "market" continued to increase. Bell had to use magic to envelop himself and his group and push away the crowd.
Half a day had passed, and apart from some miscellaneous souvenirs, Bell hadn't managed to buy anything truly useful.
Although this was expected, Bell still couldn't help feeling somewhat disappointed.
Finally, the group crossed the entire market and arrived at a secluded corner at the very back of the factory.
"Gege! Gege! Look, what's that?"
Shanna, holding Bell's hand, excitedly pointed to the open space ahead and asked.
Since this is the innermost part of the factory, arguably the worst spot for setting up a stall in the market, very few people sell anything here. This results in it being much more spacious than the areas in front.
In this empty corner, a steel robot, over 5 meters tall with its head almost touching the factory roof, stood silently. How did its owner manage to get it in here?
"G- Gundam!?"
Fortunately, Bell isn't a mecha fan, otherwise he'd probably be starry-eyed right now.
"Oh? Young man, you know about Gundam too?"
A young man dressed in tattered clothes and covered in oil stains emerged from behind the legs of the "Gundam".
"I've seen a little bit, but I don't know much about it."
Bell said honestly.
"That's such a shame! You should have watched all the Gundam anime series. Especially the ' Z series, the mecha in it were absolutely amazing!"
The man was passionately "missioning" to Bell.
If it weren't for the several women standing next to Bell, preventing him from getting too close, he would have dragged Bell to the video store to rent DVDs right away.
Heaven help me, ever since he entered the Curse World, not a single person has ever known what Gundam is!
Those from families of Onmyoji are one thing, but who would have thought that even those from ordinary families wouldn't have seen a Gundam before!?
This is absolutely outrageous!
And now, he actually heard the name Gundam from a foreigner. This made him so excited that he almost burst into tears.
"Our Gundam is quite famous! Look, even foreigners have heard of it!"
Looking at the young man who was having fun by himself, Bell could understand how the other man felt!
Back in the day... cough cough, okay, a hero doesn't dwell on past glories, let's turn the page on this.
"Gege, what is Gundam?"
Little Shanna tugged at her Gege's hand and asked curiously.
"Gundam is..."
"Gundam is Mobile Suit Gundam!"
The young man seized the opportunity to speak from Bell and excitedly explained.
"Gundam is a type of mecha; once the pilot enters the cockpit, they can control the mecha to fight..."
5 minutes later...
"Currently, there are three Gundam anime series. There are also several theatrical films, namely..."
10 minutes later...
"There are currently more than 10 Gundam mobile suit models, and my top recommendation is..."
30 minutes later...
"Gundam also released several models with 100% accuracy, but they were all too expensive, so I only bought one of them..."
"..."
Bell couldn't take it anymore. Even though he understood the other person's feelings, he couldn't stand it anymore!
"Stop--!"
With a loud shout, Bell interrupted the man's incessant chatter, and also startled Shanna was almost asleep.
The little girl got up too early today. After wandering around for half a day, she started to feel sleepy.
As for William and Elena?
As early as when the man mentioned one-third, the two of them grabbed Yomi and ran away.
Yomi, who could barely understand some English, could still serve as a translator for the two of them.
"My name is Bell Menethil, and this is my sister Shanna. May I ask your name?"
Bell was very interested in getting to know this talented person in front of him. Putting everything else aside, just that ability to talk for half an hour straight was enough to make him a talent!
"Oh, how rude of me, I completely forgot to introduce myself. Hello, my name is Arakawa Rin. Nice to meet you."
"Then, Mr. Arakawa..."
"Just call me Lin!"
Lin felt like he had met Bell, an international friend who could recognize Gundam, much like a long-lost friend.
"Okay, Lin. You can just call me Bell."
Bell readily agreed.
"So, Lin, did you make this Gundam?"
Looking at the Gundam with curiosity, Bell could sense a strong magical energy fluctuation emanating from it.
"That's right, this is the ' Artificial Shikigami ' I created based on the Z Gundam model!"
Lin said with a fervent expression.
"Artificial Shikigami?"
"Yes. Because I come from an ordinary family, I can't afford powerful Shikigami."
Mentioning this made Lin's expression immediately fall. But in less than two seconds, he regained his radiant appearance.
"So, I thought, why can't I create my own Shikigami? And then, this creation, which encapsulates all my 'love' for Gundam, was born!"
Lin was so engrossed in stroking the Gundam model that his eyes were practically overflowing with fervor.
Bell couldn't help but pull her younger sister back two steps, distancing herself from Lin.
After all, being a "pervert" is contagious.
Although Bell disagreed with Lin's sexual orientation, he still greatly admired her talent.
With the changes in the modern environment and the decrease in monsters, it has become increasingly difficult for Onmyoji to obtain Shikigami.
Ordinary evil spirits cannot be sealed as Shikigami. The basic requirement for becoming Shikigami is to possess reason.
Those utterly irrational evil spirits are simply aggregates of malice. If an Onmyoji chooses to seal them away as Shikigami, that person will go insane within days due to the invasion of evil thoughts.
Therefore, Onmyoji have always been trying to develop Artificial Shikigami. This includes, but is not limited to, artificially cultivating weak spirits and providing habitats for wild yokai to reproduce.
Some people have even come up with a way to transform humans into Shikigami).
This last one is clearly not something a decent person could come up with; it's just too brilliant... cough cough, too wicked!
As for the mecha-type Shikigami like the one in front of us, no one has ever made one before.
"Lin, could you demonstrate for me?"
Looking expectantly at the Gundam in front of him, Bell was still eager to experience what it felt like to pilot a mecha, even though he wasn't particularly interested in mecha.
"Of course, no problem! However, because the space here is rather cramped, we can only demonstrate some basic capabilities. Gundam's true power is extremely formidable!"
After saying this, Lin formed a hand seal and began chanting incantations.
After listening carefully, Bell realized that he couldn't understand a single word.
That must be Japanese, right?
Snap~ Clang~ Bang~
Amidst the clanging of metal, the Gundam took a step forward and, under the expectant gazes of Bell and Shanna, performed a set of calisthenics...
"..."
"Look, Bell, look how agile it is! And its strength is immense; it can shatter the earth with a single blow. A real man should pilot Gundam!!!"
