Malfoy's Journey to Hogwarts (Part 1)
'Hello, everyone. My name is Draco Malfoy, and I'm eleven years old. I believe that anyone who isn't a lowly Mudblood will think of that the moment they hear my name. That's right! I, Draco, am a member of the great Malfoy Family!'
'My father is Lucius Malfoy, the Current Malfoy Family Head. That means I will inherit the position of family head in the future!'
'My mother is Narcissa Malfoy, born into the ancient and noble Black Family. Although the Black Family is basically finished, with its only remaining heir currently in Azkaban getting harvested by Dementors every day and never likely to come out alive, none of that can diminish the nobility of the Black Family bloodline!'
'Therefore, I, Draco, inherited the noble bloodlines of both the Malfoy Family and the Black Family! Ever since I understood that, I have felt incomparably proud and held myself to strict standards at all times, never relaxing for even a moment—just like now!'
"Get lost, you lowly Mudblood!"
Draco watched the Little Wizard pushing a cart full of luggage away by himself and gave a disdainful snort.
He could tell at a glance that the boy was a Mudblood from a Muggle family, reeking of lowliness from head to toe. He would never allow someone like that near him. They would dirty the new robes he had specially changed into today!
"What's wrong, darling? Did someone upset you?" Narcissa looked down at her son. She was immensely proud of Draco and thought he was truly an outstanding young noble.
"A Mudblood actually tried to come within five meters of me. It's unforgivable! Mom, why does Hogwarts allow such lowly Mudbloods to enroll? It makes no sense at all!"
Draco swept his gaze over the Little Wizards in the station with undisguised disgust.
He was currently at Platform 9 3/4 in London King's Cross Station. Today was his first day heading to the best magic school in all of Britain, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He would board the Hogwarts Express here.
"Because Dumbledore likes Muggles."
Lucius withdrew his wandering gaze and looked at his son.
"Once you enter Slytherin House, things will get better. Slytherin never accepts Mudbloods."
"Dear, what have you been looking around for since earlier? Are you looking for someone?"
Narcissa looked at her husband in confusion.
"I'm looking for Crabbe and Goyle. We agreed to meet here at ten thirty. I'm also seeing if I can find Harry Potter."
Draco knew of Harry Potter.
As a pure-blood Wizard, Draco could be said to have grown up hearing Harry Potter's name. Although he did not know how Harry had managed to defeat The Dark Lord right after being born, there was one thing he was sure of: Harry must also possess a noble bloodline, perhaps even one capable of rivaling his own! Only that could explain everything Harry had done.
"Draco, remember to get along well with Harry Potter." Lucius reminded his son once again.
"Don't worry, Dad."
Unlike those lowly Wizards, Draco was a noble pure-blood and the heir of the Malfoy Family, a family that stood at the very pinnacle even among pure-bloods. He was going to Hogwarts with an important mission.
He had two tasks. First, befriend Harry Potter. Second, befriend Bell Menethil.
Draco was extremely confident about the first task. He believed no one would refuse the friendship of the great and noble Malfoy Family. He and Harry would definitely become close friends.
As for the second task, Draco did not like it very much. It was not because he thought the task would be difficult. Just as he had said, no one would refuse the Malfoy Family's friendship, so this task was no challenge at all in Draco's eyes.
The problem was, why should someone as noble as him take the initiative to befriend someone whose name he had only heard occasionally and whom he had never even met? Draco was very displeased about that.
Draco knew of the Menethil Family. They were said to be a pure-blood family as well, though far less noble than the Malfoy Family. It was only because the Menethil Family had developed rapidly in recent years that his father wanted him to befriend the Menethil Family's heir.
Draco did not like Bell Menethil. Although he had never met him, he simply did not like him. He had heard others say that Bell rarely attended noble banquets of any kind, so he assumed Bell was not outstanding enough and that Bell's father therefore did not bring him to such events.
Someone as outstanding as Draco, on the other hand, was often taken to all kinds of banquets by his father, Lucius.
Before long, Crabbe and Goyle arrived, each bringing his son. Young Crabbe and young Goyle were the same age as Draco, eleven years old, and were also first-year students at Hogwarts this year.
Looking at the two chubby boys standing before him, both of them radiating stupidity, Draco let out a helpless sigh inwardly.
Draco had known Crabbe and Goyle since he was very young. After spending so much time with them, he had come to deeply understand one fact: Crabbe and Goyle really were idiots—the hopeless kind. So if he had a choice, Draco truly did not want to bring these two fools along.
But unfortunately, the twentieth century was desperately short of talent! So despite his dissatisfaction, Draco could only grit his teeth and accept them, on the principle that having something was better than having nothing.
Soon, it was nearly eleven, the departure time. Lucius still failed to find Harry Potter. Draco did not care, though. There were only a few hundred people on the whole train. Once everyone boarded, they only had to search compartment by compartment. It surely would not take long to find Harry.
And just as Draco expected, he found Harry not long after bringing Clarke and Goyle along.
What Draco had not expected was that he had already met Harry before. More than a month ago, to celebrate his enrollment at Hogwarts, his mother Narcissa had taken him to Diagon Alley to shop and have fun. At Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions, he had met another Hogwarts first-year who was also buying robes, and they had exchanged a few words.
Draco had never imagined that the Little Wizard he had met back then was actually Harry Potter! It seemed the two of them were truly destined to meet.
With that wonderful first encounter, things will definitely go smoothly from here on out.
Draco thought happily, until he turned his gaze toward the person sitting across from Harry.
No one could possibly imagine what he saw!
Red hair, a face full of freckles, and an air of stupidity rivaling the two blockheads standing behind him—this was actually a Weasley! A Weasley, the disgrace of pure-bloods and the laughingstock of Wizards!
Draco felt a heavy burden settle onto his shoulders. He had to make Harry, who was still unfamiliar with the Magical World, stay away from the Weasleys.
"Once you become familiar with the Magical World, you'll quickly realize that some Wizarding families are much better than others. You wouldn't want to make friends with the wrong sort, would you? I can help you with that."
"No need. I think I can tell who the wrong sort is, thanks."
Harry flatly rejected Draco Malfoy's offer.
Ever since Diagon Alley, Harry had disliked both the things Draco said and the way he said them. Now this person actually dared to slander the friend he had just made. This was the first friend Harry had ever had in his life! Draco was asking for trouble!
