Background / History

Harry arrived at Hogwarts as a thin boy with untidy black hair, large glasses, an oversized coat, and the distinctive scar on his forehead. Bell Menethil initially showed no interest in meeting him, despite William Menethil's enthusiasm over seeing the famous “Savior” at Platform 9¾. 26

On the Hogwarts Express, Harry rejected Draco Malfoy's offer of friendship after Draco disparaged Ron Weasley. He was later sorted into Gryffindor, beginning a close friendship with Ron and Neville Longbottom. 32 33

Harry's early Hogwarts reputation was built on incidents frequently misunderstood by the school.
