American Wizarding World
The Magical Congress of the United States of America, the teleportation room on the second basement level.
A buzzing sound suddenly rang out in the silent, deserted teleportation room.
A delicate golden pocket watch suddenly appeared in mid-air in the center of the teleportation room. After a brief pause, it began to fall downwards.
A hand suddenly appeared out of thin air beneath the pocket watch, stopping its descent.
"That was close."
Bell couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief.
Although there was theoretically no problem, it was his first time performing such a long-distance Side-Along Apparition, so it was understandable that he was a little rusty in his operation.
Most importantly, he was completely unfamiliar with the United States and had no idea what the teleportation room of the Magical Congress of the United States of America looked like.
Therefore, he had to follow the Portkey and track the spatial tremors it caused in order to confirm the location where it appeared.
All of this resulted in him appearing in Apparition more than a second later than the Portkey.
Fortunately, those who are responsible for monitoring the teleportation room are usually disliked by their superiors or ostracized by their colleagues, and are thus sent to such places to do odd jobs.
And these people wouldn't be so bored as to stare intently at the monitoring room. A difference of less than two seconds is unlikely to be noticed by anyone.
Just as Bell had predicted, the three of them walked out of the teleportation room as if nothing had happened and went to the registration desk without arousing any suspicion.
"Where are you from?"
The registration staff sitting behind the long table asked listlessly.
"Britain."
Elena replied.
"Britain?"
The wizard glanced curiously at the Bell family of three. Even with his current job, it was rare for him to see foreign wizards, especially those from Europe.
It's important to understand that the United States is a nation of immigrants. The original inhabitants of this land were Native Americans with yellow skin, not white Europe.
For some unknown reason, despite living in very primitive tribal societies, there are many witch doctors in various Africa tribes, but there are absolutely no individuals with magical powers in the Native Americans tribes of North America.
Therefore, Native Americans were completely powerless to resist the invasion of Europe.
When Europe wizards learned of this situation, some of them regarded North America as a "Land Without Magic" and kept their distance from it.
Later, the name "Land Without Magic" spread to Muggle, and gradually, Europe began to call the North American continent "the Godforsaken Land."
Meanwhile, another group of curious, or rather, daring, wizards were very curious about why no wizards had been born on the North American continent.
They traveled across the ocean, joining Muggle merchant ships to reach North America, where they embarked on an exciting exploration.
Naturally, these wizards ended up with nothing.
Some wizards returned to Europe, while others, with no ties to their homeland, chose to remain in North America, which is the origin of United States wizards.
Therefore, in the eyes of many, whether it is Europe wizards or United States wizards, Europe is the birthplace of wizards, while the American Wizarding World is a synonym for backwardness.
After all, none of the wizards who remained in United States back then were of the Pure-blood Family. This means that their backgrounds were relatively shallow.
This has led to the situation where Europe wizards are often welcomed by United States wizards when they come to United States, as the latter are eager to gain more profound and powerful magical knowledge from the Europe wizards.
This is why Bell's grandparents were able to settle down and establish themselves in the United States so quickly after they came United States.
Of course, cases like Newt Scamander's smuggling into the country are a different matter entirely.
While the American Wizarding World may lack a strong foundation, this does not mean that United States wizards are weak.
It's worth noting that those wizards who came to explore the North American continent back then were not only daring, but also quite skilled.
After all, anyone who dares to be so daring without real skill is usually doomed long ago. Especially practical combat skills, which are arguably the strengths of those wizards.
This tradition has also been perfectly inherited by the Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the United States.
Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry places great emphasis on students' practical combat skills during their training, and there will never be a situation like Hogwarts where graduates cannot even cast the Shield Charm.
According to his grandfather, if Ilvermorny's students cannot even successfully cast the Shield Charm, they will not be awarded a graduation certificate.
Getting back to the point, Elena was quite annoyed by the way the staff of the Magical Congress of the United States of America were looking at her like she was an alien. She tapped the table in displeasure and said:
"Yes, Britain. We should have submitted an application before. Please hurry, we're in a rush."
"I'm sorry, madam, I'll check right away."
After being glared at by Elena, the staff member realized that his previous behavior was indeed very rude.
After apologizing, he quickly flipped through a book at hand.
If he remembered correctly, he seemed to have seen that a Britain would be applying to enter the United States today.
"Mrs. Menethil, and your two children?"
The staff confirmed.
"Yes."
Elena nodded.
"Where is your husband? The records show that he should have applied for entry as well."
"He's been very busy lately, so he postponed his entry. The application should have been submitted already; you can check."
"Alright. Please come this way, the three of you. We need to do a quick check on your Wand."
Nodding, the staff member stood up and led the Bell family to one end of the corridor.
After handing the Bell family over to the staff of the Wand inspection department, the staff member quickly walked to the ground.
He needed to verify whether the relevant departments had indeed received William Menethil's application for a postponement of entry.
Although his job was incredibly boring, he still received all the necessary Fawley. Therefore, he had to take it seriously and do his job well.
You see, while monitoring the teleportation room is a boring job that nobody wants to do inside the Magical Congress, outside of Magical Congress, there are plenty of people vying for the job. He can't afford to leave any evidence that would give those people an excuse to bring him down.
After handing the Wand to the staff of the Magical Congress of the United States of America, the Bell family sat idly in their chairs waiting.
"Speaking of which, Shanna, you should have cast a lot of basic Curses as I told you, right?"
It was only then that Bell realized he had been so engrossed in researching the origins of life with Hermione that he had forgotten to check if his sister had done as he had instructed.
If, during the inspection, Flashback Charm were to reappear on Shanna's Wand, conjuring up a whole bunch of Killing Curse and the like, that would be a real mess.
