"What are you going to do?"
The moment Mo Lin heard that, he knew the commotion would be anything but small.
"You know how I do things. I don't have the patience for fishing. Easier to just overturn the whole pond."
Crude words, sound reasoning. It fit Evil Face's usual style perfectly.
If Ye Lingling hadn't been there, Nuoding City might already have been gone.
As for how many people would die, Evil Face wouldn't care.
He would stop at nothing to achieve his ends. In terms of purity, Evil Face surpassed him.
After all, he wasn't purely good just because he was the Good Side. At most, he was a hypocrite.
"Attacks below God Rank can't hurt her."
He didn't stop him, merely answered in keeping with what the other had said.
"But keep the commotion as small as possible. Don't frighten Lingling. If that won't work, doing it later is fine. There's no rush."
The main purpose of killing Tang Hao was to obtain the Soul Bones he carried; the secondary purpose was to deal with the problem on Spirit Hall's side.
The story circulating outside was that the previous Supreme Pontiff had died because of Tang Hao, so he would send them a grand gift. It would also quiet that lot down.
"All right. I'll act as the situation allows."
The two reached an agreement. After all, from a certain perspective, Ye Lingling was their true Good Side.
"Remember, pay more attention to what I mentioned earlier. Don't let someone steal our home out from under us."
Being favored by a Deity might be the highest honor to others.
But in his eyes, it was nothing of the sort.
The Divine Realm had a mountain of bullshit to deal with. Becoming a god was the equivalent of finding someone else to take over a shift.
Even a God King was only a higher-ranking beast of burden. How could that compare to the comfort of his current life?
People in the lower realm longed to become gods for nothing more than the pursuit of power and the desire for immortality.
He lacked neither, so why should he go slave away like an ox or a horse for someone else? Was he some sort of born doormat?
"Mm, I'll keep an eye on it."
They didn't continue chatting, and the call ended.
Inside Suotuo City, Mo Lin sat up on the bed and looked through the open window beside him at the street outside.
"Oh, I was just talking about you, and here you are, delivering yourself to my door. Much more obliging than that rat of a father of yours."
Several figures walked together along the street.
The group of handsome boys and pretty girls was so striking that it was hard not to notice them.
Among them, a tall, slender, handsome youth accompanied a lively girl with a ponytail as she wandered between snack stalls.
"Brother, hurry and try this! This one's delicious, and this one too. This one's good too, and..."
The girl darted about nimbly, as though she had inexhaustible energy.
Whenever she returned, she would have more food in her hands, which she kept stuffing into the youth's mouth.
"Xiao Wu, slow down."
Looking at Xiao Wu, who had completely let her nature run free, Tang San wore a helpless expression.
There was certainly no persuading her. They had spent all these days training, leaving the already restless Xiao Wu thoroughly cooped up.
Now that she finally had a chance to go shopping, it would be a miracle if anyone could rein her in.
"I know, I..."
Before she could finish, she was abruptly interrupted.
"Ow!"
Xiao Wu looked up and saw that, at some point, a burly man had appeared in front of her.
She had crashed straight into him, and the recoil sent her stumbling back several steps, nearly falling to the ground.
"Xiao Wu!"
Seeing this, Tang San hurried forward.
"Are you blind?"
The burly man brushed off his clothes, his thick brows furrowing. Then, without another word, he raised his hand and swung his palm at Xiao Wu.
Xiao Wu still hadn't recovered and had no time to dodge or defend herself.
Just as the slap was about to land on her face, Dai Mubai, who was closest, intercepted it first.
His method was a little unusual, though. Most people would block with a hand or an arm, but as a runaway prince of the Star Luo Empire, Dai Mubai was certainly different from ordinary people.
He blocked it with his face. A prince's skin was very "thick," after all.
Smack-!
A sharp crack rang out.
Everyone froze, and the slap sent Dai Mubai staggering several steps.
"Well, I've really broadened my horizons today. First time I've seen anyone rescue a damsel like that. Impressive."
At these words, the other onlookers burst out laughing. The sight really was amusing.
Feeling the burning pain on his face and hearing the mockery around him, Dai Mubai instantly flew into a rage.
"You!"
"What about me? Why come out chasing girls if you haven't got what it takes? Don't think taking my slap with your face means this is over. Let me tell you."
"This isn't over."
The burly man's thuggish behavior piled snow on the frost of an already unfriendly atmosphere.
Seeing that things were about to escalate into a public brawl, Tang San hurriedly stepped in to hold Dai Mubai back.
"Boss Dai, calm down."
"San, don't hold me back! I'm teaching him a lesson today!"
Dai Mubai had run rampant around this area for years, and this was the first time anyone had slapped him in public.
The slap was one thing, but he had mocked him afterward too.
If he swallowed this, he wouldn't even be able to sleep soundly.
"Dai Mubai, what are you making a scene for?"
Hearing the commotion, Zhu Zhuqing hurried over as well. Since she hadn't been there earlier, she hadn't seen the entire incident.
But when she saw Dai Mubai ready to fight and Tang San desperately holding him back, she immediately pictured him stirring up trouble for no reason.
There was no helping it. People had their stereotypes, and Dai Mubai clearly fit the bill.
"Zhuqing, he hit first. I..."
Dai Mubai wanted to explain, but Zhu Zhuqing wouldn't listen at all.
On the contrary, the more he explained, the more she felt he was making trouble out of nothing.
When Dai Mubai saw the undisguised disgust on Zhu Zhuqing's face, he exploded.
He hadn't suffered such humiliation in eight lifetimes.
Bitch, I've really given you too much face.
Dai Mubai cursed inwardly. After all, in his mind, Zhu Zhuqing was nothing more than an object for a marriage alliance.
A plaything that had belonged to him since birth-what right did she have to give him that attitude?
He really had treated her too kindly, and now she was climbing up his nose to walk all over his face.
Seeing the situation deteriorate further, Tang San was beside himself with anxiety.
Just then, he suddenly realized that the burly man who had been standing there a moment ago had vanished.
It was as though he had evaporated from the face of the earth.
He had felt something was wrong when the man first appeared. He distinctly remembered that the man hadn't been anywhere near Xiao Wu.
The man had appeared as if out of thin air, blocking the path Xiao Wu had to take, which had led to everything that followed.
Now that things had blown up, he had disappeared again. No matter how Tang San looked at it, it seemed deliberate.
"Damn it!"
Realizing someone had set them up, Tang San could barely contain his fury.
But with the man nowhere to be found, he had no recourse. He could only deal with the problem in front of him first.
Meanwhile, Mo Lin's figure appeared in the room once more.
Looking down at the masterpiece he had created, his face was full of amusement.
"Interesting. Very interesting. I hope you can last a little longer. I haven't had enough fun yet."
