Background / History

Ye Lingling grew up in the Ye Family in Heaven Dou City alongside Mo Lin. Her mother, Ye Xingmeng, rescued him from freezing in the snow fourteen years before the story’s opening and brought him into the household. Twelve years before the opening, after discovering part of his hidden power, Ye Xingmeng arranged for him to become Lingling’s future husband and secret Dao Protector. The protective arrangement was known only to Ye Xingmeng and Mo Lin 1 7.

As a child, Lingling was lively, mischievous, and especially fond of sweets. Mo Lin remembered her eating osmanthus candy at six years old, then wiping her sticky hands on his clothes. She became quieter as she grew older, but remained close to him 2.

At Heaven Dou Royal Academy, her rare healing Martial Soul and appearance attracted numerous suitors. Her engagement was common knowledge among the students, while Dugu Yan discouraged most men who tried to approach her 1 23.

Appearance

Personality

Lingling is soft-spoken and easily embarrassed by romantic teasing, particularly from her mother and Dugu Yan. Nevertheless, she openly shows affection toward Mo Lin, leaning against him, asking whether he will miss her, and enthusiastically defending his gifts 1 14 15.

She is considerate toward both her fiancé and her friends. When Mo Lin gives Dugu Yan a valuable Soul Tool, Lingling offers to cover its cost with her own limited pocket money. She also understands that Dugu Yan’s abrasive manner conceals genuine concern 2.

Her gentleness does not make her naïve. When an unfamiliar man enters her room, she stops Dugu Yan from attacking recklessly and recognizes that his confidence may indicate a trap. She later notices his familiarity with Mo Lin and repeatedly questions their connection 22 26 30.

Lingling is curious but respects boundaries: she withdraws questions when she believes they might expose someone else’s secrets. She also recognizes her own combat limitations, choosing to remain sheltered rather than risk the aftermath of a Titled Douluo battle 35 36.

The Nine Heart Begonia is described as the world’s foremost healing-element Martial Soul and a support Martial Soul capable of rivaling the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda 1 7.

• The God of Evil states that Lingling’s lineage has been designated as successors to Life. This is a statement about the lineage’s divine succession prospects, not confirmation that Lingling has inherited a divine seat 12.

Departure for Suotuo City

• Leaves Heaven Dou City with the Heaven Dou Royal Academy team. Mo Lin sees her off and hugs her goodbye 15 16.

Encounters with Evil Face

• Finds Evil Face in the room she shares with Dugu Yan. She refuses to entertain his attempts at conversation and demands that he leave after retrieving Xiao Hei 22.
