The sword fell, and the heavens shattered.
Its edge swept along with thunder, swallowing everything.
When the lightning faded and the dark clouds withdrew, peace returned to the sky.
Beneath the moonlight, a bottomless fissure appeared in the ground.
The enormous fissure cut through all of Suotuo City, dividing it in two.
"Fuck, my hand's a little numb. Am I holding a damn sword or a lightning rod?"
High in the sky, Mo Lin's cursing rang throughout the city.
Having been struck by lightning, he was charred black all over, and his hair had blown straight out into a textbook afro.
But with a slight shake of his head, those strands turned to ash and scattered into the air.
The next moment, white light shone from his body.
The hair that had turned to ash grew back at a visible speed, while the charred black layer on his body fell away, restoring his skin to its original state.
After taking a clean set of clothes from his Storage Soul Tool and changing into them, he descended from the sky.
Then he sprawled in the rubble without a shred of dignity and began rummaging around.
"Shit, I overdid it. Don't tell me I blasted them away."
Tang Hao was certainly gone without so much as a scrap left, but the Soul Bones should still be there.
I just don't know where they all scattered.
Showing off feels great in the moment, but cleaning up afterward sure isn't easy.
"Xiao Hei!"
As though something had occurred to him, Mo Lin stopped what he was doing and shouted into the distance.
Meanwhile, realizing that the battle was over, Xiao Hei immediately dismissed the Life and Death Arena's domain and raced toward Mo Lin like a streak of lightning.
Within a few breaths, she stood before Mo Lin.
"Quick, get to work. Sniff out where the Soul Bones are!"
She was, after all, a tiger with extensive experience surviving in the wild, and her sense of smell was fairly keen.
Rather than slowly search by himself, he might as well leave it to a tiger with more expertise.
As the saying went, every field had its specialists. The Wolffy Template's energy control could detect the energy within Soul Bones, but its range was limited, making it nowhere near as useful as Xiao Hei's nose.
"Soul Bones? Oh, okay."
Finding things? That's easy.
She was familiar with the scent of Soul Bones as well. After just a couple of sniffs, she ran off in one direction.
Mo Lin followed her and soon reached their destination.
After clearing away a patch of rubble, he found a Soul Bone lying beneath it, radiating powerful energy.
"A gold drop! Quick, keep looking. There are five more."
Sure enough, the Soul Bones had been blasted away, but fortunately, they had not flown far.
The corpse he had promised to save for Qian Renxue, however, was definitely gone.
But that was fine. He could simply make another one.
It was only a corpse. With the Monkey Talisman and the Horse Talisman, he could easily transform a pile of mangled flesh back into one.
It certainly would not be the same as the genuine article, but who cared? The original was gone. Why worry about whether it was a knockoff?
As long as he said it was genuine, it was genuine. Anyone who disagreed could dig up the original to prove it was fake.
And while Mo Lin and Xiao Hei leisurely rummaged through the rubble for Soul Bones,
the surviving residents of Suotuo City huddled in the safe zone, trembling.
Most of the people in the city had survived, but a few unlucky ones had been caught in the aftermath.
Those who died could only blame their luck. It was not as though he had never given them a chance to survive.
He had wasted so much breath talking to Tang Hao and even taken two of his attacks head-on. If they still had not thought to run, that could only mean they wanted to start a new life.
In that case, he might as well lend them a hand. That counted as his good deed for the day.
Sure enough, he was still too kind. He could not understand why the God of Evil had taken a liking to him.
Wasn't that just ruining his reputation? He was a good person, after all.
"Th-this was all caused by that battle just now?!"
Looking at the traces left by the battle before her, Ye Lingling could not help feeling dazed.
A battle between Titled Douluo was actually this terrifying.
No wonder Xiao Hei had locked them up. One slight misstep out here, and they would not have been able to escape even if they wanted to.
Beside her, Dugu Yan also rubbed her eyes in disbelief.
"Wait, what? That guy's this strong?!"
She had a Titled Douluo in her own family. She might not know exactly how strong he was, but he definitely could not reach this level.
Come to think of it, he wouldn't hold a grudge, would he?
The one she was worried might hold a grudge was Mo Lin from Heaven Dou City. After all, she had said plenty of bad things about him before, and right to his face at that.
Had she known he knew someone this powerful, she would never have dared do that, even if someone beat her to death.
"Lingling, save me."
With a face on the verge of tears, Dugu Yan took Ye Lingling's hand and pleaded.
"When you get back, tell your husband not to stoop to my level. I was ignorant before, blind despite having eyes. I promise I won't badmouth him again."
"If that won't work, I'll be his concubine, and you can be his first wife."
Ye Lingling was embarrassed. What on earth was all this?
Besides, Mo Lin has such a good temper. Why would he hold it against you?
If he were going to, he would have done it ages ago. Why wait until now?
"All right, all right, I'll plead your case when I get back. Keep shaking me and I'm going to throw up."
Unable to stand Dugu Yan's fussing, Ye Lingling hurriedly agreed.
"Yay! You're the best, Lingling. Love you!"
Looking at her best friend, who was so incredibly easy to coax, Ye Lingling shook her head helplessly.
How did Mo Lin meet someone this powerful? And that man seemed to say something about owing him a new lease on life, and how he wouldn't exist without Mo Lin.
What does that mean? Could there be some other connection between them?
The question was too profound. After pondering it for a while, Ye Lingling simply gave up.
After all, rather than sit here speculating blindly, she might as well go back and ask him directly.
As for why she did not ask the man who was here, naturally, it was because she did not know him well.
Elsewhere, when Flender and Zhao Wuji saw the scene before them, they also swallowed, then very sensibly took Yu Xiaogang and left.
What a joke. Even Tang Hao had been beaten to death by that man. If they still dared cause trouble, how would that be any different from seeking death?
As for Tang San... they would just have to leave him to fend for himself.
It was not that they were cold-blooded, but that they truly could not afford to provoke that man.
Rather than have everyone wiped out, it was better to preserve the overall situation.
Soon, with Xiao Hei's help, Mo Lin successfully gathered all six Soul Bones.
After putting all the Soul Bones into his Storage Soul Tool, Mo Lin began making Tang Hao's corpse.
After all, the thing was worth a hundred million. Honesty still had to be the foundation of doing business.
He could not lose a big fat... big client like Qian Renxue over a hundred million.
"First, some minced meat, then a couple of jin of bones, then some pig's blood, then a little..."
After some work, Tang Hao's corpse was conjured into existence.
It really was a perfect one-to-one reproduction. Even Tang Hao's mother would have taken it for her son if she were here.
"Perfect. Looks like I've got potential as an artist, too. Maybe I should find a little tavern to branch out in. Who knows, I might have a gift for public speaking."
Xiao Hei watched Mo Lin mutter to himself, unable to make sense of what he was saying, with a complicated expression.
"He's saying strange things again. Boss really is different from ordinary humans."
"What are you muttering about over there? Let's go."
Mo Lin picked up the imitation corpse of Tang Hao from the ground and headed toward the branch hall Spirit Hall had built in Suotuo City.
