Background / History

Bibi Dong’s childhood village was destroyed by fallen Soul Masters. Spirit Hall’s Soul Masters rescued her, and her subsequent awakening revealed twin martial souls. Pope Qian Xunji accepted her as his sole personal disciple and cultivated her talent, allowing her to rise to the position of Saintess 14.

While traveling, she met Yu Xiaogang and fell in love with his apparent knowledge and melancholy demeanor. They privately pledged themselves to each other. Yu Xiaogang exploited her affection and privileges to access Spirit Hall’s Highest Archives, copying material that became most of his acclaimed martial-soul theories 4 14.

Qian Xunji regarded Bibi Dong as his possession. After discovering her relationship, he summoned her to a secret chamber and sexually assaulted her, then threatened to kill Yu Xiaogang if she left Spirit Hall or met him again. Yu Xiaogang misunderstood their separation as her choosing power over their relationship 14.

After Tang Hao gravely wounded Qian Xunji, Bibi Dong took advantage of lax security to devour her teacher, including his soul and Angel Martial Soul essence. The killing served both her revenge and a Rakshasa God Trial requiring the sacrifice of a Soul Master with the Six-Winged Angel bloodline. She subsequently became Spirit Hall’s youngest pope 2 15.

Bibi Dong is proud of her talent and fiercely ambitious. She initially considers herself and Hu Liena unmatched as a teacher-disciple pair, and later seeks powerful soul rings, soul bones, and godhood to accelerate her own ascension. She refuses to submit quietly to the Worship Hall once her rewards give her the strength to resist it 2 13 16.

Her treatment of Hu Liena contrasts sharply with her treatment of others. She nurtures her disciple sincerely and considers her a successor, yet coldly rejects her daughter, Qian Renxue. Her lingering love and resentment toward Yu Xiaogang eventually give way to open disgust when he tries to use their past to secure her patronage 2 15 17 27.

Despite her brutality, she refuses to cultivate by indiscriminately slaughtering civilians and low-ranking Soul Masters. She instead targets soul beasts to evolve the Eight Spider Lances. She is also capable of tactical restraint: she avoids an unnecessary battle with Bo Saixi and immediately seeks escape upon recognizing the danger posed by Ye Wuchen, the Snow Empress, and Gu Yuena 26 27 40.
