Arc 5The Storm Sea Sanctuary

Dunn and his crew escaped their Legendary pursuers by crossing the Storm Sea and found refuge in Eidinger’s archipelago. After learning about the Apotheosis Ritual and accepting Alice’s commission to investigate the loss of reproduction, Dunn confronted a Life School Wizard controlling the island’s plants.

  • Dunn and the Black Pearl fled into the Storm Sea, where a battle between Legendaries sent immense waves toward them and forced them deeper into the storms.
  • Dunn gave Devil Fruits to Annie, Jerry, Tom, Frodo, and Martin, and the crew endured five days of violent weather before Annie guided them through a barrier into calm waters.
  • Dunn and his companions met Elvia, traveled to the Wizard Tower, and received permission from Miss Alice to rest while the crew repaired the Black Pearl.
  • Annie reported the Blue Tide Sword Saint’s fall and the Lyon Empire’s rise, while Dunn learned the Wizard Council had destroyed Lyon and its capital.
  • At a Silver Mirror gathering, the Eye of the Firmament revealed the Apotheosis Ritual, which could let card-class holders ignite fame into divine fire and advance beyond their limits.
  • Dunn learned from Elvia that the archipelago’s inhabitants had lost the ability to reproduce, then accepted Alice’s commission to investigate in exchange for safe passage out of the Storm Sea.
  • On the island, Dunn fought plants controlled by a refined Wizard and identified him as a Life School Wizard before the man attacked with Corruption Rays.
Chapters 101–125 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 101Blue Tide Sword Saint

Dunn discovered that the merchant ship carried a stolen Career Card belonging to the Blue Tide Sword Saint, revealing a plot against the powerful Wizard Council commander. He and Annie fled toward the Storm Sea aboard the Black Pearl, while two figures arrived at the wreckage and recovered the box.

  • The Black Pearl activated Wave-Breaking Charge and raced toward the Storm Sea as Dunn remained grim.
  • Dunn told Annie that the box held Carlos Miske's Career Card and explained that Carlos was the Blue Tide Sword Saint, a High Legendary targeted by a conspiracy.
  • Annie urged the Black Pearl to go faster so they could reach the Storm Sea before their pursuers caught them.
  • Two figures appeared where the merchant ship had sunk, and one summoned the box containing the Blue Tide Sword Saint's Career Card.

Ch. 102Storm Sea

Dunn and his companions fled aboard the [Black Pearl] from two Legendaries and entered the Storm Sea, escaping pursuit but discovering it was monsoon season. Dunn realized that stopping [Wave-Breaking Charge] would leave the ship and its crew at grave risk.

  • Two pursuers used magic to track the [Black Pearl] and saw it nearing the Storm Sea, but decided not to follow because monsoon season made the crossing too dangerous.
  • Aboard the [Black Pearl], Annie wanted to warn Green, but Dunn explained that the Legendaries could intercept any energy transmission and use it to find their home base.
  • Dunn and his companions reached the Storm Sea, whose deadly storms and mystique could hinder the Legendaries from tracking them.
  • Dunn ordered Black Pearl to stop [Wave-Breaking Charge] to conserve gold, but Annie warned him that the Storm Sea was in monsoon season and the ship needed the charge's protection.

Ch. 103Monsoon Season

Dunn and the crew faced Legendary pursuers behind them and the deadly monsoon-season Storm Sea ahead. Dunn chose to skirt the sea’s edge while rationing the Black Pearl’s magic stones, and the crew began navigating cautiously through the storm.

  • Annie warned Dunn that entering the Storm Sea during monsoon season was nearly certain death, but Dunn said leaving its protection would expose them to the Legendary pursuers.
  • Dunn asked how long the Black Pearl could sustain [Wave-Breaking Charge], and the ship estimated three days at the current rate of magic-stone consumption.
  • Dunn shut down the freshwater conversion device, cold storage, and other magic-stone-consuming devices to conserve power.
  • Annie suggested heading toward the main shipping lane, but Dunn warned that its clashing forces could tear them apart; he sent Annie with Monet to observe the surroundings.
  • Dunn ordered the Black Pearl to follow the edge opposite the main shipping lane and leave the Storm Sea if they encountered a danger they could not withstand.

Ch. 104Deeper into the Storm Sea

Dunn and the [Black Pearl] narrowly avoided a devastating blast and towering waves caused by a battle between high-ranking Legendaries near the Storm Sea. Realizing the battle had made their pursuit irrelevant but still threatened their lives, Dunn ordered the ship deeper into the Storm Sea.

  • After a day of sailing through the Storm Sea and enduring a colossal storm, Dunn sensed danger with his Observation Haki and ordered Black Pearl to make an evasive turn.
  • A mysterious ray of light cleaved through the clouds beyond the Storm Sea, and its blast unleashed a thousand-meter wave toward the [Black Pearl].
  • Dunn warned Annie that more enormous waves were approaching from outside the Storm Sea, where high-ranking Legendaries were fighting.
  • Dunn and Annie concluded that the Legendary battle was connected to the incident that had forced them to flee, and that the pursuers had stopped targeting them.
  • With towering waves threatening them from both directions, Dunn ordered Black Pearl to head deeper into the Storm Sea.

Ch. 105Distributing the Fruits

Dunn distributed Zoan Devil Fruits to Jerry, Tom, and Frodo, then offered Annie one after she warned him about their intense cursed aura. They ate the fruits despite their foul taste and discovered their new abilities as they transformed on the deck of the Black Pearl.

  • Dunn gathered the crew and gave Jerry, Tom, and Frodo the Cat-Cat Fruit, Mouse-Mouse Fruit, and Giraffe Fruit, respectively.
  • Annie warned Dunn that the Devil Fruits carried a powerful cursed aura, and Dunn explained that the curse only prevented swimming.
  • Dunn offered Annie a Devil Fruit and confirmed that eating one had helped him reach third-tier combat strength, prompting her to take the fruit.
  • Annie and the three pirates ate the Devil Fruits and retched at their terrible taste, while Dunn belatedly told them that one bite was enough.
  • Jerry, Tom, and Frodo activated their new abilities and transformed into humanoid cat, mouse, and giraffe forms.

Ch. 106Improvement

Dunn gave Annie the Ice-Ice Fruit and Martin the Eat-Eat Fruit, while warning the crew that ordinary people could eat only one Devil Fruit. The [Black Pearl] then entered the depths of the Storm Sea, where towering waves, waterspouts, and immense whirlpools threatened the ship.

  • Annie used the Ice-Ice Fruit to release a bone-piercing chill and celebrated reaching Third Tier combat power.
  • Dunn told Annie that each person could eat only one Devil Fruit, then reassured Monet that he would find a suitable fruit for her.
  • Dunn gave Martin the Eat-Eat Fruit, which raised Martin to the Second Tier and meant the crew would no longer need to worry about food.
  • The [Black Pearl] sailed deeper into the Storm Sea as fierce winds and towering waves tossed the ship and its crew about.
  • Dunn spotted waterspouts and enormous whirlpools ahead, confirming that the [Black Pearl] had reached the Storm Sea's depths.

Ch. 107Weather Master

Dunn and the crew struggled to keep the [Black Pearl] alive in the Storm Sea while Annie’s advancement to [Weather Master] improved their chances of surviving. Annie trusted her intuition that their chosen course was their only hope, and she spotted signs that the weather ahead was calming.

  • The [Black Pearl] endured five days of violent weather in the Storm Sea, and Dunn used the Silver Mirror to obtain more magic stones from the Eye of the Firmament.
  • Annie completed her advancement ritual and became a third-tier [Weather Master], gaining Transcendent Feats through her Perception and Intelligence.
  • Dunn asked Annie if she could find a way out, but she said the weather and mystic properties made it impossible to know for sure.
  • Annie insisted that her intuition marked their current direction as their only chance of survival.
  • Annie announced that the weather ahead was beginning to calm.

Ch. 108A way to survive

Annie sensed a sheltered area within the Storm Sea, and Dunn chose to lead the exhausted crew toward it despite the danger. After the storm nearly tore apart the [Black Pearl], Annie weakened it long enough for the ship to cross an invisible barrier into sunlight.

  • Annie told Dunn that the storm ahead would weaken in a safe harbor, though she could not explain the anomaly.
  • Dunn decided the crew had to risk entering the area because the [Black Pearl] and everyone aboard were nearing their limits.
  • As the ship approached, Annie and Dunn realized the surrounding mystical counterforce was growing more violent, and Dunn ordered Annie to use the Calamity of the Sea while Black Pearl maintained [Wave-Breaking Charge].
  • When [Wave-Breaking Charge] failed, Dunn shielded the [Black Pearl] with blood and Armament Haki as the storm tore into its hull and broke its mast.
  • Annie's interference briefly halted the wind and rain, allowing the [Black Pearl] to cross the invisible barrier into a sunlit area.

Ch. 109Wizard Tower

Dunn and his exhausted crew crossed into a calm sanctuary in the Storm Sea, where they discovered a colossal Wizard Tower and approached its islands. They encountered a living Mermaid, and Annie urged Dunn to capture her as the chapter ended.

  • The Black Pearl crossed the storm barrier into calm, sunlit waters, and Annie and the crew celebrated their escape.
  • Dunn pointed out a vast archipelago and a towering Wizard Tower, which he and Annie recognized as the source of the sanctuary.
  • Dunn decided the crew had to visit the tower’s master because they were too depleted to return through the storm.
  • The Black Pearl neared the islands, where the crew heard a beautiful song and spotted a blonde Mermaid sitting on a reef.
  • Annie excitedly told Dunn to catch the Mermaid, startling the girl into looking toward the ship.

Ch. 110Elvia

Dunn and Annie encountered the mermaid Elvia while seeking an audience with the owner of the place, Eddinger, but learned that Miss Alice handled outside matters. After Monet helped them befriend Elvia, she agreed to take them to Miss Alice, leaving whether Alice would see them undecided.

  • Elvia fled into the sea after Annie startled her, then resurfaced and asked Dunn and Annie who they were.
  • Dunn explained that they had taken shelter from the storm and wanted to visit the owner, and Elvia said Eddinger had not come out in a long time and Miss Alice handled outside matters.
  • Dunn introduced himself and Annie, and Monet used her ability to float over and introduce herself to Elvia.
  • Elvia called Monet an adorable human cub and climbed aboard the Black Pearl after Monet invited her to play.
  • Annie and Monet befriended Elvia, who agreed to take them to Miss Alice but said the decision to see them was up to Alice.

Ch. 111Eidinger Island

Dunn and his companions traveled with Elvia to Eidinger Island, learning about the isolated sea and its ruler, Eddinger. They reached the Wizard tower and prepared to meet Alice, whose decision to let people settle nearby puzzled Annie.

  • Annie coaxed Elvia into explaining that Eddinger created and ruled the waters, where Alice had managed the territory for several years.
  • Elvia led Dunn and his companions across the sea to Eidinger Island, where the other creatures welcomed her warmly.
  • Dunn told the crew to rest and keep out of trouble, then went ashore with Annie and Monet; Elvia transformed her tail into legs.
  • After staying with a nearby Orc tribe, the group traveled for several days toward the Wizard tower and saw a growing settlement around it.
  • Elvia said Alice had allowed tribes to settle near the tower, which she believed was an act of kindness, while Annie doubted that explanation.

Ch. 112Alice

Dunn and his companions reached the Wizard Tower, where they sought Miss Alice’s permission to rest and repair their ship. Alice allowed them to stay and assigned Elvia to arrange their lodging, leaving them near the place where they had landed.

  • Dunn noticed a Wailing Flower growing among the plants outside the Wizard Tower and realized Miss Alice must have used her power to make the surrounding vegetation thrive beside it.
  • Elvia led Dunn and his companions to the tower and spoke with the Tower Spirit, who recognized her and agreed to notify Miss Alice.
  • Miss Alice asked how the outsiders had entered the area, and Dunn explained that they had fled people trying to kill them and taken shelter from a storm.
  • Dunn asked to rest and recuperate at the tower, and Miss Alice granted permission and told Elvia to arrange their stay.
  • Dunn chose to stay near their landing site so they could repair their ship, and Elvia accepted his choice.

Ch. 113[Emperor]

Dunn and the others settled on Eidinger Island, where the nearby catfolk helped build their lodgings while the Homies repaired the Black Pearl. A newspaper revealed that war had reignited between the New and Old Worlds after the Lyon crown prince declared himself the first Emperor, and Dunn learned why the Wizard Council feared the Legendary [Emperor] class.

  • Elvia reluctantly left Eidinger Island after settling Dunn and the others there, especially struggling to part from Monet.
  • The catfolk helped build the group’s lodgings, while the Homies repaired the Black Pearl and Tom, Jerry, and Frodo befriended the tribe.
  • Annie showed Dunn a report that the Blue Tide Sword Saint had fallen after attacks by multiple Legendaries, prompting the Wizard Speaker to head for the New World and fight a mysterious opponent identified as Yi.
  • The crown prince of Lyon declared the kingdom an empire and became its first [Emperor], after which Yi drove off a corps of Legendary Wizards sent to kill him.
  • Dunn read that the [Emperor] class could gain will from expanding territory and grant Legendary status to level-19 beings, a power that had once enabled dozens of Emperors to command over two thousand Legendaries.

Ch. 114Lost and Found

Dunn learned that the Lyon Empire had defied the Wizard Council and seized much of the New World, while Annie worried that they had angered the empire by plundering its ship. That night, Dunn drew a second Flame-Flame Fruit and decided to keep it hidden until he became Legendary.

  • The chapter recounted how a [Savior] ended the War of the Emperors and how the Wizard Council later banned the [Emperor] class.
  • The Lyon Empire allied with New World factions, drove nearly all Old World powers from the region, and claimed almost a third of its territory.
  • The Wizard Council ordered the Old World powers to mobilize for war against the New World.
  • Annie realized the merchant ship Dunn's group had plundered belonged to the Lyon Empire and feared its rulers would hunt them, but Dunn reassured her they were unlikely to target them.
  • Dunn drew a second Flame-Flame Fruit and suspected that Devil Fruits returned to his lottery after their users died.
  • Dunn decided not to extract the newly drawn fruit until he became Legendary, in case its previous user had died during a Legendary Wizard's experiments.

Ch. 115Erasure

The Kingdom of Lyon crumbled after its king’s son became [Emperor], prompting high-ranking Classholders to flee and other kingdoms to invade. A Destiny Legendary Wizard arrived and erased Lyon’s Royal Capital, leaving the king and his remaining defenders gone.

  • The king of Lyon learned that seven countries had attacked and that the kingdom had lost more than half its territory.
  • The king blamed his unfilial son for becoming [Emperor] in his place, while nobles and ministers admitted they had no way to resist the Wizard Council.
  • A female Wizard appeared in the palace, and the kingdom’s lone remaining Legendary identified her as the Wizard Council’s other Destiny Legendary Wizard.
  • The female Wizard explained the Council’s fear of [Emperor] and unleashed a wave of yellow light that dissolved the Royal Capital.

Ch. 116A summons

After news reports the destruction of the Kingdom of Lyon, the Eye of the Firmament summons Dunn and the other River Styx Contract signers to the Consciousness Space. There, the Eye of the Firmament reveals that You Rooster has advanced to Legendary, leaving the group astonished.

  • Annie tells Dunn that the Wizard Council destroyed the Kingdom of Lyon and its capital, killing millions and forbidding anyone from mentioning the kingdom.
  • Dunn receives a Silver Mirror message from the Eye of the Firmament, telling everyone to find a safe place before their consciousnesses are drawn into the Consciousness Space.
  • Dunn goes to the Black Pearl’s Captain’s Quarters and allows the Silver Mirror to transport him to the Consciousness Space.
  • Dunn finds himself seated at a round table with twelve animal-headed members and the Eye of the Firmament.
  • Chen Dragon angrily confronts Rabbit after Rabbit touches his head, and the Eye of the Firmament interrupts them.
  • The Eye of the Firmament announces that You Rooster has advanced to Legendary, shocking the other contract signers.

Ch. 117A warning

Dunn learned that You Rooster was Lyon I, the newly advanced [Emperor] and emperor of the Lyon Empire, while the Eye of the Firmament revealed his own role in the advancement plan. The Eye warned the group to hide their connection to him and the Silver Mirror, then said he needed them as varied test subjects for an experiment whose true purpose remained unclear.

  • Dunn recalled that Lyon I was the only recently advanced Legendary and suspected You Rooster was the emperor of the Lyon Empire.
  • The Eye of the Firmament confirmed You Rooster's identity, and You Rooster transformed from a chicken-headed figure into a handsome young man.
  • The Eye revealed that he had instigated the plan to advance to [Emperor] and warned the River Styx Contract signers not to disclose information about him or the Silver Mirror.
  • Rabbit admitted that he had told his teacher, and the Eye replied that not every Legendary supported the Wizard Council.
  • Shen Monkey questioned why the Eye had gathered them, and the Eye said [Emperor] needed varied test subjects to provide sufficient data.
  • Yin Tiger asked what the experiment was, but the chapter ended before the Eye answered.

Ch. 118Apotheosis

The Eye of the Firmament told Dunn that card-class holders had never reached Destiny and explained a new advancement path discovered through fame. Dunn learned that the Apotheosis Ritual could turn fame into divine fire and raise card-class holders to Demigod, leaving him eager to pursue apotheosis.

  • The Eye of the Firmament revealed that card-class holders had never advanced beyond level 39, while traditional classes had reached Destiny.
  • The Eye of the Firmament explained that Legendary figures gathered an obscure energy called fame, which increased with their activity and renown.
  • The Eye of the Firmament said a ritual could ignite fame into divine fire, allowing card-class holders to advance and gain power beyond Destiny Wizards' magic.
  • The Eye of the Firmament named the experiment the Apotheosis Ritual after successful card-class subjects became Demigods.
  • Dunn realized that apotheosis offered him a way to surpass the world's strongest figures.

Ch. 119Information

The Eye of the Firmament defended choosing Chen Dragon as a test subject for the uncertain apotheosis ritual and warned everyone to keep his secrets. You Rooster then revealed that a powerful fruit had killed a Legendary who ate a second one, leaving the group eager to learn more about the strange treasure.

  • Chen Dragon challenged the Eye of the Firmament over being chosen, and the Eye explained that the card-class requirement for igniting divine fire was only a conjecture.
  • The Eye of the Firmament warned the gathered members not to reveal anything connected to him, then prepared to end the meeting.
  • You Rooster proposed that the group exchange secret information and revealed that a strange cursed fruit had increased a Legendary's attributes and biological level.
  • You Rooster said the Legendary found and ate a second fruit, then exploded and died.
  • You Rooster explained that each person could apparently eat only one fruit, and Zi Rat asked for more information before You Rooster passed the turn to the next person.

Ch. 120Elvia returned

Dunn shared news of a Destiny Legendary Wizard in the Storm Sea at a meeting of the Eye of the Firmament, then returned to the Black Pearl and learned that Elvia had come back with her people. The chapter left Dunn watching Elvia and the other Mermaids playing with Monet on the beach.

  • Zi Rat, Chou Ox, Yin Tiger, Rabbit, Chen Dragon, Yi Snake, and Wu Horse each shared information at the meeting.
  • Dunn revealed that a Destiny Legendary lived in seclusion deep within the Storm Sea, shocking the other members.
  • After the meeting ended, You Rooster asked the Eye of the Firmament about the Wizard, who said the man was unlikely to side with the Wizard Council and might not live much longer.
  • Dunn returned to the Captain's Quarters aboard the [Black Pearl] and heard laughter from the nearby beach.
  • Black Pearl told Dunn that Elvia had returned with her people, and Dunn saw her playing with Monet and several Mermaids.

Ch. 121Alice's summons

Dunn spent his days admiring the young Mermaids while enduring the frustration of keeping his distance. When Alice summoned him, he took Elvia’s hand and was enveloped by a powerful magical force.

  • Elvia explained that the creatures in these waters had lost the ability to reproduce more than twenty years ago, and Dunn suspected Eddinger was involved.
  • While the Mermaids played with Monet, Elvia froze as Alice contacted her, and Monet’s sand ball struck Elvia.
  • Elvia told Monet and the other Mermaids that Alice was communicating with her, then informed Dunn that Alice wanted to see him.
  • Dunn agreed to go with Elvia and took her hand, and a powerful magical force enveloped them both.

Ch. 122A fireball to the face

Dunn met Alice in her study, where a surprise Fireball showed her powerful magic and left him unharmed. After the Tower Spirit explained Alice’s difficulty speaking to strangers, Alice asked Dunn for help because his combat resilience was exceptional for a third-tier professional.

  • Elvia teased Dunn about surviving Alice’s unpleasant teleportation spell, then Alice teleported Elvia away from her study.
  • Alice remained silent as Dunn tried to get her attention, then struck him with a Fireball when he approached her.
  • The Tower Spirit arrived and explained that Alice struggled to speak when alone with strangers.
  • Alice warned Dunn not to approach her without permission and explained that she had sent Elvia away because their discussion was private.
  • Alice asked Dunn for help and praised him for surviving her powerful Fireball despite being only a third-tier professional.

Ch. 123The commission

Dunn accepted Alice’s commission to investigate the cause of the Archipelago’s inhabitants losing their ability to reproduce, since the threat adapts to the tier of whoever enters and requires someone who can fight above their tier. He secured Alice’s promise to escort him and his companions safely out of the Storm Sea in exchange for taking the job.

  • Alice told Dunn that no one in the Archipelago could fight above their tier and that the commission’s secret should remain undisclosed.
  • Dunn accepted the commission because he needed Alice’s help to leave the Storm Sea safely.
  • Alice revealed that the Archipelago’s races had lost the ability to reproduce and that she knew the problem’s root but could not resolve it.
  • Alice explained that the Wizard Tower could not reach the location, and that its 'things' matched the tier of whoever entered.
  • Dunn understood why Alice needed someone who could fight above their tier and asked for payment.
  • Alice agreed to escort Dunn and his companions safely out of the Storm Sea.

Ch. 124Troublesome

Dunn arrived on a lush island to find its plants infused with magic and controlled by a hidden transcendent creature. As Night Feather cleared the plants and the creature sent powerful trees to attack, Dunn used his remaining souls on the trees.

  • Dunn surveyed the island and found that his Observation Haki could not distinguish the hidden creature among the abundant life.
  • The island's plants attacked Dunn, but his Conqueror's Color Haki failed to affect them because they had no consciousness of their own.
  • Dunn sent Night Feather spinning through the plants, allowing it to cut them down while he stayed alert for the hidden creature.
  • The creature uprooted several powerful trees that quickly healed from Night Feather's attacks.
  • Dunn scattered his remaining souls toward the third-tier trees.

Ch. 125A Wizard?

After animating several Third Tier trees and freeing them from a mysterious force’s control, Dunn discovered that the force belonged to a human Wizard. Dunn suspected the Wizard was part of a conflict between Destiny Legendary Wizards and attacked him, fearing he would otherwise be trapped in the dispute.

  • Dunn used his remaining souls to create Homies from the Third Tier trees, which broke free of the Transcendent creature’s control.
  • A refined, human-looking man in a Wizard’s robe appeared, and Dunn recognized him as the likely source of the control.
  • Dunn transformed and charged the Wizard, but dodged a Corruption Ray that withered the plants across a wide area.
  • Dunn identified the man as a Life School Wizard and suspected he was challenging His Eminence Eddinger on behalf of another Destiny Legendary Wizard.
  • Dunn enveloped himself and the Wizard in black mist and attacked, but the Wizard located him and fired several Corruption Rays that blocked his escape.
