Lin Ze stood atop a steel skyscraper, overlooking the sleepless city below.
This was the largest city on the planet.
Neon lights wove a dazzling curtain of light across the night sky. Holographic billboards stretched between the high-rises, enormous virtual idols danced among the buildings, and sweet singing reached every corner through sound systems scattered throughout the city.
The streets teemed with pedestrians, and prosthetic modifications had all but become standard.
Some had replaced an entire arm with a mechanical one, others had glowing electronic eyes installed, and some had even converted half their faces into metal structures.
Lin Ze withdrew his gaze, moved, and vanished silently from the rooftop.
He traveled through the city's shadows. Occasionally, passersby felt a faint breeze sweep past them, but when they turned to look, they saw nothing. A few seemed to glimpse a white silhouette in a moment of haziness, but a second later, they forgot everything they had just seen.
Against these ordinary people, Lin Ze's genjutsu was an utterly overwhelming advantage.
What irritated him somewhat, however, were the cameras.
The density of cameras in this city was absurdly high, with one almost every ten meters. Street corners, rooftops, elevator entrances, and even trash cans were fitted with surveillance equipment of various models.
Every so often as he walked, Lin Ze had to release a weak electrical pulse to temporarily disable the nearby cameras.
What a nuisance.

Still, he did not pay it too much mind. With his current strength, being caught on camera would not matter. He simply did not want unnecessary complications.
