Power Progression

The following milestones document Yinglang’s Sharingan development before his departure from the clan, rather than a collective rank held by the Uchiha.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Sharingan awakening; one-tomoe stage 59 86 Awakened at age five during the year-end assessment, where Yinglang defeated Kagami. At his later departure, he demonstrated that Elder Yan’s three-tomoe eyes could not suppress his apparently one-tomoe eye.
Three-Tomoe Sharingan 35 Awakened through anger toward Tobirama, Konoha, and his circumstances, together with his determination to become independent. Improved perception, mental strength, and energy control.
Mangekyō Sharingan 55 By age eight, Yinglang possessed Guixu, a targeted annihilation ability, and Instant, which manipulated time for himself or within a very small area.

Organization and Culture

Leadership

After Madara left Konoha, six core elders and approximately a dozen ordinary elders jointly governed the clan. Individual elders held administrative portfolios: Uchiha Gen, also called Elder Xuan, supervised clan rules and punishments 11.

Figure Position and significance
Madara Uchiha Former clan leader and co-founder of Konoha. His departure left the clan without its strongest combatant 4 12.
Uchiha Gen / Elder Xuan Core elder responsible for discipline; a Kage-level shinobi who sponsored Yinglang’s entry into the clan’s ruling circle 11.
Uchiha En Senior leader prominent during the Toyotomi split and subsequent wartime deployments 59 78 315.
Uchiha Yinglang Gen’s son-in-law and heir. Temporarily handled Gen’s responsibilities after his incapacitation and later identified himself as the clan’s former youngest core elder 34 88.
Uchiha Fushan Installed as clan leader after Danzo’s rebellion with backing from Konoha’s leadership 335.
Uchiha Fugaku Fushan’s son and designated successor in his childhood storyline; clan head in the later infighting and massacre-related accounts 187 421.

Social Hierarchy

  • Bloodline, strength, and character: The clan treated martial ability, ancestry, and personal integrity as complementary qualifications for advancement. Yinglang’s reputation for filial devotion helped secure elite patronage 9 10 11.
  • Branch-family disadvantage: Ning and Yinglang lived at the compound’s edge, received supplies barely sufficient for basic needs, and attracted little attention before his rise 3.
  • Elite privilege: Kagami enjoyed a central residence, superior equipment, and the best instruction while his father Yuanguang retained influence 169.
  • Servant households: Dependent families also lived under Uchiha authority. Yinglang secured a place in elite education—and the Uchiha surname—for the servant’s son Yutian, but other children continued to belittle his origins 4 19 229.
  • Unequal upbringing: Fugaku’s childhood centered on elite teachers, clan heirs, and the Hokage. Yinglang criticized his lack of contact with poorer clanspeople as a fundamental weakness in his preparation for leadership 421.

Education

  • The clan maintained its own academy, dormitories, training grounds, and elite education program 17 18.
  • Tetsu Uchiha’s elite course began with endurance running and horse-stance conditioning, followed by exercises such as chakra control and water walking 17 19.
  • Foundational instruction included chakra refinement, Fire Release, genjutsu, taijutsu, and ninja-tool handling 12 13.
  • When Tobirama imposed compulsory Academy enrollment in Konoha Year 14, En planned to retain talented children within clan instruction while sending less-favored children to gather information at the village school 81.

Abilities and Skills

Sharingan

The Sharingan draws upon the Uchiha bloodline’s Yin Release spiritual energy. Its development reflects powerful emotions; Yinglang’s three-tomoe awakening followed intense anger and a resolve to escape his circumstances 35 37.

  • One tomoe: Enhanced perception 193.
  • Two tomoe: Copying ability 193.
  • Three tomoe: Genjutsu hypnosis, alongside strengthened perception and spiritual power 37 193.
  • Mangekyō: Specialized ocular techniques that differ between wielders. Documented examples include Yinglang’s Guixu and Instant, Obito’s Kamui, and Shisui’s Kotoamatsukami 55 261 427.
  • Limit: Excessive Mangekyō use can cause blindness 84.

Susanoo and Advanced Ocular Forms

Advanced Sharingan users can manifest Susanoo, a colossal construct combining offensive and defensive power. Yinglang describes Perfect Susanoo as an expression of Yin Release chakra, will, and spiritual energy 148.

  • Madara’s Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan and Perfect Susanoo place him among the examples used to explain Super Kage strength 37.
  • Transplanting a relative’s Mangekyō is an established route to Eternal Mangekyō; Yinglang later develops a separate, self-directed method after founding the Toyotomi 127 225.
  • Yinglang disputes the idea that the Rinnegan is simply the next linear Sharingan stage, pointing to Madara’s combination of Indra’s inheritance with Hashirama’s cells 84.

Fire Release and Ninja Tools

Fire Release, shuriken, kunai, taijutsu, and genjutsu form part of the clan’s standard combat education 12 13.

  • Great Fireball Technique: Included in Yinglang’s early training and used by En during battle against Kirigakure 13 255.
  • Precision throwing: Yinglang’s unusual shuriken manipulation attracted Tobirama’s attention because it was absent from the Uchiha archives 30.

Known Counters

  • Hidden Mist Technique: Obscures the Uchiha’s vision; the Sharingan cannot see through the mist despite its ability to perceive chakra 255.
  • Bringer-of-Darkness Technique: Developed by Tobirama and Kagami specifically to counter the Sharingan. Its absolute darkness defeats even Mangekyō vision 183.
  • Water Release: Identified by Uchiha soldiers as a disadvantage for their Fire Release on the Kirigakure front 315.

History

War with the Senju and Konoha’s Founding

Before Konoha’s foundation, the Uchiha fought the Senju under Madara. After Izuna was gravely wounded, Madara removed him from the battlefield; the clan subsequently suffered repeated defeats and eventually surrendered. Yinglang blamed Madara for prolonging resistance and increasing the casualties, including his father Retsu, who was killed by Tobirama 1 4.

The Uchiha and Senju jointly founded Konoha. Madara left in Konoha Year Two, but no clanspeople followed him. Hashirama interpreted their decision to remain as evidence of loyalty to the village 4 11 88.

Elder Rule and Internal Rivalry

Madara’s absence produced conflicting attitudes: some resented his abandonment, while others missed the strength that had allowed him to challenge Hashirama. Elder Xuan favored preserving the clan’s interests within Konoha rather than returning to Madara’s path 12.

Yuanguang’s faction instead emphasized loyalty to Konoha and the Will of Fire. After Xuan was gravely injured, Yinglang assumed his duties and curtailed Yuanguang’s faction. Yuanguang’s subsequent downfall left Kagami hostile toward the clan; the removal of his father’s portrait from the shrine helped Tobirama secure his personal loyalty 17 33 34 41.

Police Expansion and the Toyotomi Split

After a battle left Hashirama gravely wounded and Konoha damaged, Yinglang sought a substantial expansion of the Uchiha-controlled Military Police Force. He also ordered surveillance personnel around the compound killed and reported as foreign spies, bringing his covert conflict with Tobirama into open hostility 46.

In Konoha Year Nine, Yinglang renounced the Uchiha surname and founded the Toyotomi Clan. Dozens followed him out of the meeting; his later account described the separation as involving a few hundred clanspeople and several dozen ninja 59 131.

Yinglang proposed an alliance between the two independent clans. Xuan accepted an honorary Toyotomi position without abandoning his Uchiha name, on condition that the clans avoid harming one another without cause. The loss of followers and prestige nevertheless severely weakened En’s remaining Uchiha organization 59 78.

Wartime Attrition and Danzo’s Rebellion

Uchiha troops suffered sustained losses on the Kirigakure and Kumogakure fronts. Soldiers accused Konoha of deliberately wearing them down through unfavorable assignments, while En warned that refusing orders could expose the entire clan to punishment as traitors 255 315.

During Danzo’s rebellion, some Uchiha joined the rebels. Yaohui confronted Kagami as a clan traitor, and Uchiha and Senju fighters stood together against Mito. A later historical account records Yaohui killing Kagami 329 349.

After the rebellion devastated Konoha, Fushan became clan leader. Survivors accepted his appointment without open opposition, although some remained resentful of his backing by the village authorities 335.

Competition with the Toyotomi

The Toyotomi’s success increasingly challenged the Uchiha’s claim to prestige. Toyotomi publicity presented its Sharingan as eyes awakened through love, while medical aid stations earned public goodwill. By contrast, Uchiha police work generated resentment and reinforced the village’s hostile image of the clan 394 418.

Fushan urged concentrated investment in gifted children after the Toyotomi produced a two-year-old Wood Release user. Luoxiu argued that the Uchiha needed to develop their own strength rather than rely on resources from Konoha 407.

In the main-world Konoha Year 30 sequence, Uchiha fighters clashed with Toyotomi personnel outside the Elite School. Coordinated senbon volleys broke up their formation, surprising Fushan with their opponents’ discipline and tactics 535.

In the later Fugaku-led clan account, proof of Tobirama’s Sharingan theft, transplant experiments, and appropriation of forbidden techniques provoked outrage. Root infiltrators attempted to discredit Fugaku and circulated a report predicting that his future son Itachi would massacre the clan 187.

As coup preparations developed, Itachi chose loyalty to Konoha but initially hesitated over killing his clanspeople. The narrative also reveals that Fushan had sent youths with Mangekyō potential into dangerous Anbu assignments, deepening losses that ordinary members attributed to village suppression 424 426.

After reconsidering Shisui’s wish to protect both clan and village, Itachi made his decision and entered the compound to begin the killings. Sakura’s account of the massacre identifies Sasuke as the brother he spared 231 427 428.

Relationships

  • Senju Clan — Former battlefield enemies and fellow founders of Konoha. Their institutional partnership did not eliminate private hostility or prejudice against the Uchiha 4 88 168.
  • Tobirama Senju — A central political adversary. He cultivated Kagami, developed anti-Sharingan measures with him, and obtained Uchiha eyes and forbidden techniques for experimentation 41 183 187.
  • Hashirama Senju — Co-founded Konoha with Madara and initially defended the remaining Uchiha’s loyalty. After Danzo’s rebellion, he recommended Fushan as their new leader 11 335.
  • Toyotomi Clan — Independent offshoot sharing Uchiha ancestry. Yinglang initially offered alliance, but later leadership rivalry and public competition culminated in direct clashes 59 407 535.
  • Toyotomi Yinglang — Former branch-family child, elder, and police leader. He credited Xuan—not the clan collectively—with raising him and refused responsibility for saving the Uchiha who remained 86 88 249.
  • Root and Danzo — Both manipulators of internal distrust and temporary allies of some dissident Uchiha during the rebellion 187 329.
