Ch. 461The question of the clan massacre
Toyotomi Yinglang asked the children to judge Uchiha Itachi’s role in the Uchiha Clan Massacre, and they condemned his choice to kill his clan instead of protecting them or seeking another way. The discussion ended with Mikoto acknowledging that the Empire and Toyotomi Yinglang were different from Konoha and Fugaku.
- Toyotomi Yinglang asked Jilan, Ryukōshi, Jin Zhiyin, Senrin, Moro, and Yōsa for their views on the Uchiha Clan Massacre.
- Jilan blamed the cycle of poor upbringing passed down from Uchiha Fushan to Fugaku and then to Uchiha Itachi.
- Ryukōshi argued that Itachi should have defended his clan, prevented the conflict, or protected noncombatants and his younger brother; Sasori added that Itachi had done none of those things.
- Moro challenged Jin Zhiyin’s sympathy for Itachi, arguing that Itachi had taken both his clansmen’s lives and the chance for them to be remembered as good people; Yōsa and Moro then discussed killing Itachi.
- Liying asked why he would not grow up to become like Itachi, and Toyotomi Yinglang said he would teach the children to be human and that the Empire would let people live standing tall.
- Mikoto agreed that Toyotomi Yinglang was not Fugaku and the Empire was not Konoha, while Toyotomi Yinglang concluded that Itachi had gained only contempt.
