"Hehe, go get some rest. Tomorrow, I'll set out with you." Otsutsuki Yuku could not help smiling at how happy Otsutsuki Toneri looked.
Otsutsuki Toneri was far too mature for his age. Although that was a good thing, the occasional glimpse of the child he should have been also gave his father considerable comfort.
"Yes, Father. I'll take my leave." Otsutsuki Toneri bowed slightly again, then turned and left.
He would be leaving the moon tomorrow, and he really was a little excited!
He was sick of it. He truly was sick of staying here. This Ōtsutsuki Clan had long since rotted through.
They were all utterly arrogant and prejudiced toward the people of the Shinobi World, yet little did they know that their own horizons were as narrow as a frog's at the bottom of a well.
How could these people confined to the moon possibly comprehend the splendor the Shinobi World would display in the future?
Otsutsuki Toneri returned to his room, pondered for a moment, and turned his head toward his left palm.
His hand was pale and delicate. In its palm, a patch of previously smooth skin stirred slightly, then suddenly opened!
It was an eye!
Its pupil was an eerie blood-red, giving off a faint scarlet glow, with concentric black rings within it.
The Rinnegan!
Yes, it was indeed a Rinnegan!
"Although it's a Rinnegan, there's only one. Still, that's enough, even if I don't know why it awakened." Otsutsuki Toneri flexed his left hand slightly. This Rinnegan had suddenly awakened when he was four.
He did not understand why he had awakened the Rinnegan, but he suspected it was because his bloodline had reverted to its ancestral state.
Hamura Otsutsuki had been a child Kaguya Ōtsutsuki conceived through special means. Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was "celibate"; she had never been with a man.
She had conceived Hagoromo Otsutsuki and his brother through a special method, though no one yet knew exactly what that method was.
However, Hagoromo Otsutsuki and his brother had indeed inherited her bloodline, so it did make sense for Otsutsuki Toneri's bloodline to revert to its ancestral state and awaken the Rinnegan.
What was rather strange, however, was that his Rinnegan had awakened in his palm, just like Momoshiki Otsutsuki's.
Time to meet that grandmother of mine! Otsutsuki Toneri closed his Rinnegan, then thought to himself.
He did not know whether calling her his grandmother was correct, but that was what he called her...
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki! The being known as the Rabbit Goddess!
Chapter 3: Meeting Kaguya Ōtsutsuki for the first time!
The moon where the Ōtsutsuki Clan now lived had actually been formed when Hagoromo Otsutsuki and his brother used Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei.
Thus, the entire moon was actually one enormous seal! A seal imprisoning Kaguya Ōtsutsuki.
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was far too powerful, but Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei was the strongest Sealing Jutsu created specifically to counter her. Even she could do nothing but remain sealed within it.
Late at night, a small figure sped through the darkness, soon stopping in front of a shrine. It was Otsutsuki Toneri.
The Ōtsutsuki Shrine was the Ōtsutsuki Clan's most sacred place. Whenever they held a sacrificial ceremony, they came here to perform it.
At the same time, however, it was also the entrance to Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's seal!
Otsutsuki Toneri slowly entered the shrine. No one guarded it, as it was a public place.
Members of the Ōtsutsuki Clan often came here to pay their respects.
The shrine's interior was spacious and empty. Otsutsuki Toneri turned his head toward the front and center, where a statue of Hamura Otsutsuki came into view.
"How ironic. A son sealed his own mother, and now, even in death, he has to stand guard over the place where she's imprisoned?" Otsutsuki Toneri said slowly, the corners of his mouth curling into a disdainful smile.
Otsutsuki Toneri did not like Hagoromo Otsutsuki or his brother. Although the Otsutsuki Branch Family's thinking was obsessive and extreme, they were right about one thing.
War had never ceased across the Shinobi World Continent. The Sage of Six Paths' supposed method of bringing peace through communication between hearts was utterly foolish.
Facts spoke louder than words. There was no need for much debate; one only had to look at how many years of war the Shinobi World had endured.
Otsutsuki Toneri stepped forward and raised his left hand slightly. His blood-red Rinnegan shone with an eerie scarlet light.
An invisible gravitational pull slowly shifted Hamura Otsutsuki's statue to the left, revealing a Sealing Formation beneath it.
"Although I'm still not familiar with using the Rinnegan, with coordinates, I can just about manage to travel!" Otsutsuki Toneri jumped onto the altar and carefully examined the intricate formation.
He was still young. Although his Ōtsutsuki bloodline gave him far more chakra than an ordinary person, the Rinnegan's space-time techniques required far too much chakra.
He extended the Rinnegan in his left hand, sensing the spatial location on the seal. A spatial vortex slowly drew Otsutsuki Toneri inside.
Otsutsuki Toneri's small figure slowly appeared within a pitch-black space.
"So this is the separate space where Kaguya Ōtsutsuki is sealed?" Otsutsuki Toneri glanced at the Sealing Formation behind him, memorized its location, and began walking slowly forward.
The entire space was pitch-black: deep, silent, and dark!
Otsutsuki Toneri observed everything around him, and a trace of gloom could not help rising within him.
It was simply too quiet here. In this lifeless, dark environment, it was difficult to imagine how someone could keep their mind from collapsing if they stayed for any length of time.
"Where is Kaguya Ōtsutsuki? She should be in this sealed space too. Or is there another seal here?" After walking for a long time, Otsutsuki Toneri could not help stopping to ponder.
He could not sense anyone's presence at all. He even suspected that there might be a deeper layer to the seal!
Just then, a quiet female voice drifted through the surroundings, seeming both right beside his ear and somewhere impossibly distant.
"Is this... a descendant of Hamura?"
Hearing that soft voice, Otsutsuki Toneri suddenly felt an overwhelming sense of danger. Every hair on his body seemed to stand on end.
Like a startled wild beast, Otsutsuki Toneri pushed his senses to their limit and kept turning his head to scan his surroundings. Nothing. Nothing anywhere!
Finally, Otsutsuki Toneri turned his head upward, aiming the Rinnegan in his left hand above him as well.
He saw her: a figure like a deity!
Her long, snow-white hair extended even past her feet. She wore a white kimono with an orange lining, secured at the waist by an orange-red sash.
Her face was snow-white and exquisitely delicate, her Byakugan pure and flawless, yet neither the Nine-Tomoe Rinne Sharingan on her forehead nor the rabbit-ear-shaped horns on her head could be seen.
She floated silently in the air, her head lowered slightly as she looked down at Otsutsuki Toneri. She gave off no aura whatsoever, as though she were an ordinary person.
Even so, she possessed a unique quality, a faint, indescribable quality, a quality like that of a god.
Or rather, it was not a quality, but divinity!
She was completely different from an ordinary woman, a difference apparent at a glance!
After all, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki was a godlike existence in this world!
"You are a descendant of Hamura?" Kaguya Ōtsutsuki slowly floated down, landed in front of Otsutsuki Toneri, and asked with her head tilted slightly.
Her voice was distinctive, husky and resonant, with a coolness that seemed devoid of emotion.
"Otsutsuki Toneri greets you, Grandmother!" Otsutsuki Toneri steadied himself, then smiled, his eyes still tightly closed.
He had no eyes at present, so he could only keep them closed.
"You know who I am? Toneri, is it? Hamura has a fine descendant. Your Rinnegan?"
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki looked Otsutsuki Toneri up and down before finally fixing her gaze on the Rinnegan in his left hand.
Her dark brows furrowed slightly. This Rinnegan reminded her of certain people she loathed.
"Although the clan has no records of your deeds, Grandmother, I learned a little through certain channels," Otsutsuki Toneri said with a nod.
In fact, no one in the present-day Ōtsutsuki Clan knew anything about Kaguya Ōtsutsuki anymore. The two Otsutsuki brothers had deliberately made later generations forget her existence.
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki had already attained an immortal body. There was no way to kill her; she could only be sealed.
But no matter how powerful a seal was, as long as it was a seal, that meant there was a way to undo it.
Thus, the two Otsutsuki brothers could only diminish Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's presence, making later generations forget the legendary Rabbit Goddess.
That was to prevent some future fools with ambitions from releasing their mother, whose power approached that of a god.
"This Rinnegan suddenly awakened three years ago. Grandmother, is something wrong?" Otsutsuki Toneri displayed the blood-red Rinnegan in his palm and asked Kaguya Ōtsutsuki curiously.

At his words, a few faint veins bulged beside Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's eyes, and she examined Otsutsuki Toneri closely once again.
The Byakugan, the ocular technique with the greatest powers of perception, was far beyond what the Sharingan and Rinnegan could compare with in that respect. It was an eye geared toward support.
Although people said that the Sharingan and Rinnegan were stronger than the Byakugan, that was an overgeneralization.
The Byakugan was not an eye devoted entirely to supporting combat in the first place. Its most outstanding feature was its perceptive ability.
Developed to its utmost, the Byakugan could even perceive fate. For example, Momoshiki Otsutsuki, who would come to the Shinobi World in the future,
his Byakugan could already perceive a person's fate. However, he could not see his own fate, and the fate he saw was not immutable.
That was why he ultimately failed.
Besides, the Tenseigan, which evolved from the Byakugan, was the eye born purely for combat.
"Your bloodline is indeed already close to mine. No wonder you awakened the Rinnegan." The veins disappeared again, and Kaguya Ōtsutsuki gave the child a long look as she spoke calmly.
With such concentrated Ōtsutsuki blood, even calling this child an ancestral reversion was truly too extraordinary.
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki pondered briefly, and some other thoughts occurred to her.
"Thank you for the praise, Grandmother. Grandmother, I need your help," Otsutsuki Toneri said slowly, wearing an innocent smile.
He had not come to Kaguya Ōtsutsuki to hear her praise him.
"My blood and Hamura's flow through you. You need only acquire a pair of pure Byakugan, and the Tenseigan will awaken naturally."
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki spoke calmly. She thought Otsutsuki Toneri had come because of his eyes, which was why she offered him that advice.
The Tenseigan was Hamura Otsutsuki's eye, an eye that had developed through his own mutation, one Kaguya Ōtsutsuki had never possessed.
Although Hagoromo Otsutsuki and his brother, her own two children, had sealed her with their own hands, a thousand years had passed. Time was far too merciless.
The hatred in her heart had long since dispersed without a trace. Now, she only wanted to wait quietly for the day when she could escape this seal.
Thus, she did not begrudge this descendant of hers her goodwill.
"It isn't the Tenseigan, Grandmother. I need your power. This Rinnegan can still evolve." Otsutsuki Toneri shook his head. He had long since known how to bring forth the Tenseigan.
