The cameraman followed the sound, tilting his camera upward.
Only then did he notice the little balcony up above.
Ye Yizhou rested both elbows on the black railing, leaning forward slightly as he raised a hand to wave at them, a sly smile tugging at his lips.
He positively oozed charm.
"Answer me! Who left in a taxi!"
Director Ji, who was also on the balcony, pressed both hands against the railing and craned his head out, shouting anxiously.
The whole vibe changed in an instant.
The cameraman looked at them speechlessly. "We've been looking for ages."
Ye Yizhou lightly pressed a finger to his lips, trying to hide the mischievous grin at the corners of his mouth.
But he was caught anyway.
Hearing that answer, then seeing the cameraman's expression and Ye Yizhou's smile, Director Ji immediately caught on.
Director Ji roared in exasperation, "Ye Yizhou!"
"What?"
Ye Yizhou closed one eye and dug at his ear, his tone innocent. "I can hear you. I'm not deaf. No need to shout."
"I just asked you what you kept looking downstairs at, and you said it was nothing!"
Director Ji was furious. He knew Ye Yizhou was a little menace. "You saw them wandering around aimlessly and didn't say a word."
"Don't pin this on me. How was I supposed to know they were circling around twice to look for you?"
Ye Yizhou spread his hands, looking even more innocent.
"Like I'd believe that nonsense."
Director Ji snapped at Ye Yizhou before giving the cameraman downstairs directions. "See that tree over there? There's a staircase behind it that leads up here."
The cameraman walked in the direction Director Ji indicated. Beside the villa's main building stood a large tree with a thick trunk and lush, dense foliage, its branches extending along the side of the villa. Without looking closely, it was genuinely hard to spot the glass walkway between the trunk and the second floor.
[Whoa, that staircase is really hidden! It's completely in a blind spot!]
[The designer's a mad genius. Can't blame the cameraman for missing it after two laps. I might never have found it in my entire life!]
[What a clever design. Walking through that shaded glass passage feels straight out of a fairy tale.]
The camera passed through the shade of the tree, revealing the second-floor balcony in full.
The open-air balcony had wood-effect flooring and some beautiful, uniquely shaped arrangements of greenery.
An outdoor table and chairs stood on one side of the terrace, while a long white sofa sat on the other, facing an outdoor movie screen. Beside it stood a huge outdoor umbrella for sun and rain, with little light strips attached that would create plenty of atmosphere at night.
Ye Yizhou lounged in a wooden chair, his elbow resting on the armrest.
One leg stretched out while the other bent casually, his posture loose and unrestrained.
"What exactly are you trying to do?"
Director Ji was too angry to stay seated. Looking at Ye Yizhou's nonchalant manner, he spoke with both irritation and helplessness.
"Didn't I just tell you? You didn't hear me?"
Ye Yizhou lazily lifted his eyes to him and asked in puzzlement.
Of course Director Ji had heard him, but if he let Ye Yizhou keep doing whatever he pleased, sooner or later his show would be finished.
"How about I give you a separate track, and you go do your own thing?"
Director Ji asked tentatively.
"Oh?"
Ye Yizhou raised his eyebrows, finding that rather interesting. "How would I do my own thing?"
"You can participate throughout the show as a romance commentator, but you can't interfere with the other guests' normal interactions."
Stop flirting with other people's partners!
Remembering the way Jiang Chuyu had looked at Ye Yizhou earlier, Director Ji began to panic. The interactions between the most talked-about couple weren't even as natural and sweet as those with Ye Yizhou.
If Ye Yizhou kept this up, his dating show would be one in name only!
"Don't mess around. You don't look like someone who'd take responsibility. Stop flirting with everyone." Director Ji finally gave Ye Yizhou a stern "warning."
Ye Yizhou: ???
"How do I look like someone who wouldn't take responsibility?"
Ye Yizhou didn't like hearing that. "I'm a champion of pure love. Nobody's more faithful or responsible in a relationship than me, okay?"
Director Ji said nothing, but his eyes were full of doubt.
"Don't you already like someone? If you keep flirting with other people, how are you going to win them over?"
Ye Yizhou broke into a brilliant smile.
"You won them over?" Director Ji sounded even more excited than Ye Yizhou.
"Mm-hmm." Ye Yizhou's eyebrows lifted slightly, the happiness in his eyes impossible to hide.
"Seriously?"
Director Ji sat down in a chair and leaned his head over to ask, eager for gossip.
"Heh. You think everyone's as useless as you?"
Ye Yizhou delivered the jab with a smile.
[What's going on? Ye Yizhou won Song Jincheng over?]
[Ye Yizhou's just bragging, right? One look at the disgust in Song Jincheng's eyes earlier tells you that's obviously fake.]
[Wait, did he actually name Song Jincheng?]
[Ye Yizhou likes our fave and practically throws himself at him. The entire entertainment industry knows. Who else could he mean?]
[Can Ye Yizhou get lost? Making stuff up to leech attention is disgusting.]
[You don't like him, yet you're here in his solo livestream. You must be Ye Yizhou's real fans!]
"Be fair. Haven't I worked hard enough?" Director Ji felt truly wronged.
Ye Yizhou scooted up a little twice, folded his arms across his chest, and leaned against the chair back, quietly watching Director Ji perform.
When people got worked up, they couldn't sit still.
Director Ji shot to his feet and reached toward the sky, declaring passionately, "Let me ask you: have you ever put your life on the line for someone else's love?"
"I have. I have. I have."
Important things had to be said three times.
Pointing at himself, Director Ji repeated it to Ye Yizhou three times, trying to catch a different emotion on his face.
Ye Yizhou moved.
Ye Yizhou rummaged for a long while in the pocket of his black outdoor jacket.
Director Ji unconsciously stopped what he was about to say next and focused on Ye Yizhou's movements.
Then Ye Yizhou pulled a handful out of his pocket. A handful of... s-sunflower seeds?
And began cracking them open as though no one else were there.
Director Ji stared at Ye Yizhou in astonishment, momentarily at a loss for words.
"What are you looking at me for? Keep talking!" Ye Yizhou wasn't very pleased that Director Ji had stopped halfway through.
"No, why are you keeping sunflower seeds in your pocket? This is a dating show!" Director Ji was utterly baffled.
"So what if it's a dating show? I'm not here to date. I'm here for the drama. Isn't it normal to carry some sunflower seeds, the essential snack for watching drama? What's all the fuss about?"
Ye Yizhou spoke with such conviction that it was hard to find fault with his reasoning. He even remembered to urge Director Ji on at the end. "Go on, tell me. I'd like to hear how you put your life on the line for my love."
Director Ji was speechless.
Ye Yizhou clicked his tongue and pursed his lips. "Come on. Without a story to go with them, these seeds don't even taste like anything."
Ye Yizhou really knew how to get under someone's skin!!
Director Ji gritted his teeth in anger, but quickly readjusted his mindset.
