The weather had turned chilly; it felt like the entertainment industry was in for a shake-up
"It doesn't matter. We're not competing for resources, and we're not rivals. You have no reason to set me up."
Ye Yizhou saw things clearly and seemed not to care at all.
Chen Kangcheng and He Xu nodded in agreement. That was indeed the case.
Besides, even if the news got out, it wouldn't really have much impact. It was just a normal investment.
"It doesn't really matter." Ye Yizhou said it didn't matter again, prompting Chen Kangcheng and He Xu to give him puzzled looks instead.
Then they saw a sly smile spread across Ye Yizhou's face. "If you dare blab, I'll have you blacklisted immediately."
Chen Kangcheng and He Xu trembled. "Surely there's no need to go that far!"
"Stop scaring them," Wei Zhao said irritably.
"Throwing my weight around is pretty fun." The smile on Ye Yizhou's lips grew even more mischievous.
"Ignore him. As long as you don't provoke him, you'll be fine."
Wei Zhao was getting an increasingly clear grasp of this little devil's temperament. He couldn't help remarking, "You were cuter before."
"Am I not cute now?"
Ye Yizhou cupped his face in both hands and spoke affectedly.
"Cute, very cute."
Without even looking at Ye Yizhou, Wei Zhao said perfunctorily, "If there's nothing else, you can leave. We working stiffs are busy."
"Send me a copy of those lists and the evidence you collected earlier."
Ye Yizhou stood up, finally bringing up the real reason for his visit.
"Ready to settle the score?" Wei Zhao raised his eyebrows slightly, feeling a little excited too.
"Of course. They stepped on me to get ahead. Now let's see if they have what it takes to hold on to those positions."
A sly gleam flashed in Ye Yizhou's eyes.
"Sure, I'll send it right now."
Wei Zhao went around the desk, sat down at his computer, and packaged an encrypted document on it to send to Ye Yizhou's email.
From the first time people had put Ye Yizhou down to elevate someone else, planted smear articles about him, and hired trolls to steer public opinion against him, Ye Yizhou had told him to collect all the evidence.
At the time, Ye Yizhou had even said, "Once I've achieved my little goal, I'll give things a proper cleanup."
Back then, Wei Zhao had thought Ye Yizhou's so-called little goal was to become a major star or a best actor award winner or something, and fight back once he had a voice in the entertainment industry.
Only now did he understand what Ye Yizhou had meant by a cleanup.
He probably meant cleaning up the entertainment industry!
"I'm off."
After receiving the material he wanted, Ye Yizhou slipped one hand into his pocket, waved to Wei Zhao with the other, and left.
"What big move are you two keeping up your sleeves?"
Having heard part of Ye Yizhou and Wei Zhao's conversation, Chen Kangcheng could pick up on a few things too.
Standing by the window, Wei Zhao put on airs and said, "The weather's turned chilly. It feels like the entertainment industry is in for a shake-up."
Thump!
A cushion flew straight into the back of Wei Zhao's head, cutting his posturing short.
"Even Ye Yizhou doesn't show off as much as you," Chen Kangcheng scoffed in utter disdain.
"He didn't show off just now, did he? So I did it for him. An opportunity this good would've been a waste otherwise." Wei Zhao was thoroughly pleased with his own performance as the king of showing off.
"Don't show off in front of me. I'm not your audience."
Chen Kangcheng pulled He Xu up and headed out. "Come on, let's get you an acting coach and squeeze in some intensive training. Ye Yizhou was right. Solid acting skills are what matter."
There really was nothing wrong with that reasoning. Should he find acting coaches for his artists to study with too?
Wei Zhao thought to himself that he had to seize such a good opportunity.
That day, the official Weibo account of Entertainment Emperor Entertainment Co., Ltd. published a new post.
Entertainment Emperor Entertainment Co., Ltd. V: Our new film and television project has been registered. The project is funded by @Yan Group Co., Ltd., with new technological support provided in partnership with @Lingyao Group Co., Ltd., produced by Entertainment Emperor Entertainment, and directed by @Director Liu Jiangzhou. Every account tagged in that post was a heavyweight in its own field.
Although it didn't explicitly announce what kind of project it was, this was undoubtedly an extraordinary opportunity that every young actor and actress in the entertainment industry would fight for.
There was no hiding the news that agent after agent at Entertainment Emperor Entertainment was hiring acting coaches. It soon spread everywhere.
It was clear they all wanted to compete on acting skills, so everyone else was certainly unwilling to fall behind.
Everyone was quietly preparing, and the competition began to intensify.
Next, some artists, whether deliberately, inadvertently, or simply following the trend, posted photos of themselves hiring acting coaches and working hard to improve their acting.
In an entertainment industry where popularity was king, a new wave in which acting reigned supreme seemed to have swept in.
Whether they were really all competing to improve their acting remained unknown.
Soon, it was time for the third livestream of the dating show.
[Ahhhhhhh, the dating show's finally live again! Jincheng, I'm here!]
[We get to admire our boy's beautiful face again.]
[We get to watch the Goldfish couple's sweet interactions again. Jincheng dotes on him so much.]
As soon as the livestream began, Song Jincheng's fans flooded the screen with comments, giving the impression that he was very popular.
As always, they gathered at the entrance to board the bus. The same familiar routine.
[Every time I see the guests transfer to a bus at the entrance to the villa complex, I find it inexplicably funny, hahaha.]
[What happened to being able to do whatever you want if you're rich? They can't even get through the gate?]
[After all, the people living in there aren't just rich. They're powerful too. You can't mess with any of them.]
"Huh? This isn't the way to the house we're staying in!"
Sitting by the window, Jiang Chuyu noticed something was off.
"Really? Every road looks the same to me. This place is so huge I'd get lost walking around on my own."
Pei Lan looked out the window too, but she wasn't as observant. She genuinely couldn't tell one place from another.
"Look at the stop signs. The names are different." Jiang Chuyu pointed to a distinctive sign they had just passed.
"They really are." Only then did the other guests catch on.
"Chuyu, you're so observant."
Song Jincheng looked at Jiang Chuyu tenderly as he praised him, raising a hand to pat his head.
Jiang Chuyu rested both hands on the seatback in front of him and leaned forward, sounding a little excited. "Director, have you moved us to a new house?"
Whether intentionally or not, Jiang Chuyu's movement left Song Jincheng's hand hanging in midair, frozen there and looking a little awkward.
Song Jincheng frowned involuntarily, but seemed to realize it almost immediately. His expression promptly relaxed, and he lowered his gaze and slowly withdrew his hand.
He looked deeply hurt and dejected.
But Jiang Chuyu seemed not to have noticed, his expectant gaze fixed on the director.
