"Why are you looking at me? Want to sit over here too?"
Ye Yizhou raised his eyes to Song Jincheng, refusing to indulge him in the slightest, and said coldly:
"What? All those empty seats up front aren't good enough? You have to squeeze in here and act out Burning Winter?"
The moment Ye Yizhou opened his mouth, he seemed intent on infuriating Song Jincheng to death.
Song Jincheng frowned slightly and turned his gaze back to Jiang Chuyu. He watched for a long time, but Jiang Chuyu never looked up to meet his eyes.
Song Jincheng lowered his eyes in disappointment, turned, and sat in an empty seat up front. He looked out the window, seeming shrouded in sadness.
Only after Song Jincheng sat down did Jiang Chuyu shift his gaze away from Ye Yizhou. His expression remained innocent and cute, the corners of his mouth slightly raised as usual.
Ye Yizhou quietly took out his phone and tapped the screen a few times. Only after muting the media volume did he turn the screen toward Jiang Chuyu.
"What do you think?"
Hearing Ye Yizhou's voice, Jiang Chuyu finally looked over. He leaned closer to look at the screen and smiled calmly. "As expected."
What Ye Yizhou showed Jiang Chuyu was the livestream of their dating show.
The footage wasn't important. What mattered was what the scrolling comments said.
Just as Jiang Chuyu had said, every look Song Jincheng directed at Jiang Chuyu, along with his lonely figure as he held himself back, gave way, and sat off to one side alone, had his fans utterly heartbroken.
While feeling sorry for their idol, they began hurling abuse at Jiang Chuyu for being ungrateful and putting on an act.
There was no insult too foul for them to use.
"This can't be because of me, can it?"
Ye Yizhou recalled what he had told Jiang Chuyu before leaving in the first episode and reasonably speculated whether he had something to do with Jiang Chuyu's unwillingness to maintain even a surface peace with Song Jincheng.
Ye Yizhou's question was oblique, but Jiang Chuyu understood.
"A little, but not much."
Jiang Chuyu answered with a grin, "Don't take it to heart. Since I made my choice, I'll bear whatever consequences come of it myself."
"Good. Work long enough, and who wouldn't lose their mind?" Ye Yizhou said with a pointed smile.
Ye Yizhou showed Jiang Chuyu the comments again. Well, now they had started insulting both of them.
They called Ye Yizhou and Jiang Chuyu birds of a feather, neither of them any good. They felt sorry for their idol, having someone like that leech off his popularity while another piece of trash just like him broke his heart.
"How can you still smile? Aren't you angry?"
Seeing the unmistakable amusement in Ye Yizhou's smile, and how he even seemed to be in a very good mood, Jiang Chuyu couldn't help asking in confusion.
"I'm not angry. I even kind of want to laugh. Haven't I seen enough of this same old drivel these past two years?"
Ye Yizhou was a master of keeping his cool. He didn't care about any of this at all, and sometimes reading it genuinely made him want to laugh. "Others can get angry, but I won't. If I make myself sick with anger, nobody can suffer it for me. I need to stay happy and wait to see certain people spend the rest of their lives in misery."
Jiang Chuyu covered his microphone and quietly reminded Ye Yizhou, "We're live. Don't just say anything."
Ye Yizhou glanced up at the camera, his smile growing even more unrestrained. "I'm saying it for them to hear. I'm just waiting for the show when that boomerang hits them right between the eyes!"
[What does Ye Yizhou mean by that? Is he provoking us?]
[Does Ye Yizhou seriously think he has tens of millions in assets waiting for him to inherit?]
[He rents some luxury car for publicity and actually thinks he's some rich family's young master?]
[This is a dating show. What exactly is a married man like Ye Yizhou doing here?]
[Can you make Ye Yizhou get lost? Just seeing him annoys me. Poor Jincheng's eyes.]
"If you really feel that sorry for your idol's eyes, you can tell him to get lost."
Ye Yizhou suddenly came out with that, and everyone on the bus turned to look at him.
"Are you talking to someone?" Director Ji had a hunch but couldn't quite believe it, and asked nervously.
Ye Yizhou waved his phone, his tone innocent and sincere. "I'm having a warm, friendly exchange with the comments."
"Hiss."
Director Ji sucked in a sharp breath.
That was the trouble with livestreaming. Uncontrollable things could easily happen, and there was no stopping them or editing them out. It was a real headache.
"The other guests have all handed in their phones. Would you like to..."
Director Ji asked tentatively, but when his gaze met the wordless smile on Ye Yizhou's face, the rest of his sentence automatically went silent.
Ye Yizhou wore an innocent expression the moment he spoke. "Everyone else is paired up. They all have someone to talk to, so don't I have to find someone to talk to myself?"
But that's still no reason for you to snap back at the comments!
Ye Yizhou had his own reasons, and he was thoroughly convinced he was in the right. "I saw how frantically they were posting comments. I couldn't bear to watch them get all worked up for nothing, so I couldn't help offering them a suitable suggestion."
"I really am too kind," Ye Yizhou couldn't help adding with a sigh at the end.
Within a single minute, Director Ji's expression had already changed several times. He said helplessly, "Would you listen to yourself?"
"Was anything I said wrong?"
Ye Yizhou put away his playful smile. With his face cold, even his voice carried a chill. "Surely nobody still thinks they can just step on me to get ahead, or climb up by trampling on other innocent people!"
Ye Yizhou's words left everyone on the bus exchanging looks.
In the end, their gazes naturally settled on Song Jincheng and Zhong Xi.
After all, those two had the most obvious, openly displayed conflicts with Ye Yizhou.
It had been clear since the show's first episode that Ye Yizhou was no longer as easy to manipulate as before.
But some people simply didn't understand. They insisted on rushing up to provoke him to his face, only to end up humiliated anyway.
Zhong Xi deserved a special mention here.
After that speech from Ye Yizhou, nobody dared respond.
Those uninvolved weren't about to go looking for trouble, and those involved didn't dare say anything either. Who knew what crazy thing Ye Yizhou might do?
Especially since they were live. They couldn't bear the consequences.
"We're here. Everyone, get off the bus!"
The moment the bus stopped, Director Ji was overjoyed. He hurriedly changed the subject and ushered everyone off.
Once they had more room to move around, surely there wouldn't be any more of that awkward atmosphere that seemed to freeze the very air!
The guests made their way into the villa with practiced ease, while Ye Yizhou turned and headed straight for the garden.
Director Ji had no idea what Ye Yizhou was up to, so he could only assign a camera to follow him and open a separate livestream just for him.
"What are you doing? Why aren't you going into the villa?" Director Ji had a terrible headache.
"Heh."
Ye Yizhou rocked back and forth on the swing chair, looking at Director Ji and shaking his head. "Can't you feel even a little of how good I'm being to you?"
"You have no heart!"
Director Ji: ???
