Background / History

Childhood and Xu Chao’s return

Fu Sichen grew up next door to the Xu family. Xu Chao had clung to him since childhood and called him “beauty” and “baby.” Fu Sichen was also a childhood friend of Xu Chuan, whose outrage over their eventual romance did not erase their longstanding friendship 77 86 98.

Fu Sichen later brought Xu Chao back from another world in exchange for his own life. From Xu Chao’s return onward, his remaining lifespan began counting down. Xu Chao was not supposed to remember their shared past, and Fu Sichen concealed the truth rather than leave him anticipating his death and living with guilt 74 77.

The original novel’s account

The story Xu Chao initially remembers presents Fu Sichen as a wealthy, ruthless villain. In that account, the original owner of Xu Chao’s body intended to drug Lou Jun but instead had a sexual encounter with Fu Sichen. Family interests subsequently forced them into marriage. Fu Sichen spent most of his time overseas, while the original owner pursued Lou Jun and ultimately suffered a gruesome death at his husband’s hands 1.

This account shapes Xu Chao’s early fear of him, but Fu Sichen later explicitly distinguishes his Xu Chao from the “filthy, ugly soul” responsible for the earlier misconduct 3 71.

Return home and public marriage

After appearing at Xu Chao’s birthday gathering, Fu Sichen rejects Shen Xinbai’s attempts to interfere in their marriage and openly calls Xu Chao his wife. He takes Xu Chao home and tells the butler that, unlike his previous brief visits, he intends to remain in the country long-term 2 3 4.

He gives Xu Chao fifty million yuan as spending money and brings him to meet Old Master Fu. When Jin Feng accuses Xu Chao of extortion, Fu Sichen declares his trust in him; his team also traces the online smear campaign to Jin Feng’s alternate account and payments 8 9.

Dating show and jungle rescue

Fu Sichen joins Xu Chao on the husbands’ dating show, carrying supplies, helping him along jungle paths, and choosing a small tent with one sleeping bag over a larger alternative. Although unfamiliar with lighting a campfire, he asks Xu Chao to teach him rather than leave the work to him 13 14 20.

When armed mercenaries threaten the group, Fu Sichen plays the bodyguard to Xu Chao’s improvised crime-boss persona. Their performance creates an opening for him to strike Scarface and seize his gun, helping secure the captives’ escape 32.

Afterward, Fu Sichen privately supplies five million yuan for an official reward to be awarded solely to Xu Chao. He also requests generous praise and a large red flower because Xu Chao likes them. When Xu Chao donates the reward to Damai Village, Fu Sichen contributes another five million, bringing the village’s total to ten million yuan 34 40 41.

Filming and the stand-in misunderstanding

While visiting Xu Chao’s film production, Fu Sichen admits being jealous of his affectionate scenes with Gu Chengfeng. Director Chen Lixin has him temporarily play the Great General opposite Xu Chao’s Little Heir, keeping his face hidden during filming 49 50.

His request that Xu Chao call him “A-Chen” leads Xu Chao to believe he is a substitute for someone from Fu Sichen’s past. Fu Sichen notices the resulting distance and tries to coax him with food, collectible figures, spending money, and affection. Xu Chao later begins questioning his stand-in theory after recognizing the familiarity of their intimacy and the red mole over Fu Sichen’s heart 50 51 81.

Returning memories and hypnosis

During an island confrontation, Lou Jun insists that Xu Chao still loves him. Fu Sichen beats him, then deliberately breaks his own wrist to draw Xu Chao’s concern. Seeing the injury triggers Xu Chao’s memory of Fu Sichen suffering on a snowy mountain; he attacks Lou Jun and calls Fu Sichen “Achen” 72 73 74.

Fu Sichen is briefly overjoyed at being remembered, then terrified by what the memories may mean for Xu Chao. He confesses his love, knocks Xu Chao unconscious, and has the night’s events buried through hypnosis. He later explains to Xu Zhou that he does not want Xu Chao to spend his life feeling guilty 73 74.

When Xu Chao eventually recovers memories from both worlds, he asks not to be hypnotized again. Lin Zhiya refuses Fu Sichen’s attempt to arrange another session, with Old Master Fu supporting her. Left alone together, Xu Chao tells him, “Achen, I missed you so much,” and Fu Sichen finally acknowledges how deeply he had wanted the whole Xu Chao to remember him 97.

The main story closes with their mutual declaration of love. His condition remains unresolved in the second extra, where Xu Chao proposes seeking help through Lou Jun and Shen Xinbai after conventional medicine fails and a potentially helpful Taoist priest cannot be located 98 100.

Appearance

Fu Sichen is strikingly handsome, with refined, sharply defined features and a tall, muscular build 52 82.

Personality

Fu Sichen’s outward composure contrasts with his capacity for intimidation and violence. He can remain calm while threatening enemies or beating Lou Jun, and he has little interest in protecting strangers for their own sake. He admits internally that without Xu Chao, he would not have cared whether the jungle captives survived 24 40 64 72.

His attachment to Xu Chao is both tender and possessive. He feeds him, carries him, supports his charitable decisions, and offers unconditional backing against public criticism. At the same time, he becomes jealous over small gestures toward other men, threatens to gouge out Xu Chao’s eyes if he looks at them, and deliberately injures himself to obtain reassurance of Xu Chao’s love 8 18 20 21 58 74.

He describes his own world as governed by obsession rather than morality, with Xu Chao at its center. His willingness to sacrifice his life coexists with controlling decisions about Xu Chao’s memories, even though he privately longs to be remembered 74 77 97.

His germophobia chiefly manifests as an aversion to being touched by strangers, rather than a preoccupation with tidiness. Xu Chao understands this distinction and intervenes when the village chief shakes his hand 41.
