Background / History

Lou Jun has known Xu Chao since kindergarten. He remembers the young Xu Chao following him around and sweetly calling him “Brother Jun,” and later invokes their childhood connection to justify pursuing him. His description of them as “childhood sweethearts” is Lou Jun’s own claim, not evidence of a mutual romantic relationship 29 72.

For years, the person occupying Xu Chao’s body pursued Lou Jun despite his coldness and humiliation. Lou Jun accepted money and resources from this admirer while dating Shen Xinbai; Xu Chao also recalls the former occupant attempting to obtain Fu Sichen’s business secrets for him. Although initially presented as the “original owner,” this obsessive pursuer is later revealed to have been an impostor who took Xu Chao’s body five years earlier 3 4 72 96.

Despite his wealthy background, Lou Jun does not control the Lou family’s assets. He is its future heir but has no actual power and receives only a five-percent share of its annual profits—a limitation that makes the financial gap between him and Fu Sichen increasingly apparent 53.

During the jungle expedition, he carries Shen Xinbai despite severe exhaustion rather than admit weakness 3 18.

He repeatedly interprets Xu Chao’s rejection as concealed affection. He assumes public embarrassment is an attempt to force him into a relationship, reads mockery as jealousy, and treats a rescue as proof that Xu Chao still loves him. Even after Xu Chao affirms his marriage, Lou Jun proposes competing with Fu Sichen for him 7 61 70 71.

His aggression is tempered by fear of superior power. He threatens people he believes he can intimidate but repeatedly restrains himself around Fu Sichen. After Fu Sichen kicks him during an attempted visit to Xu Chao, he privately acknowledges that he had come to steal someone else’s partner 2 3 24 63.

Lou Jun’s affection for Shen Xinbai includes genuine concern: he breaks free of a captor when Shen Xinbai is attacked. However, after Shen Xinbai abandons him, that devotion gives way to resentment, accusations, and regret over having rejected Xu Chao 66 67 70.
