Relocation
Lu Heng was relaxed as he walked back from the military base.
With the farewell arrangements settled, Song Yunzhong's matter was considered resolved. Next up was Moonview Valley. With the Permanent Territory Certificate tucked away, the location confirmed, and the trip considered complete.
He walked along the ruins on the edge of the city, with the Bone Demon following behind. His footsteps pounded on the gravel, each one steady and clear.
Then those Zombie rushed out.
Four of them sprang out of a half-collapsed building. The one in the lead had ridiculously thin legs and bent knees, making it run like a catapult at incredible speed.
Lu Heng stopped and glanced at his Wristband.
[Bronze Tier - Agility Zombie]
He frowned.
My good mood was ruined, and I felt only gloomy.
The Agility Zombie in the lead pounced first, its claws aimed straight for his throat, while the remaining three flanked him from both sides.
Lu Heng didn't dodge; he reached behind his back with his right hand and drew out the Insect Armor Sword.
The moment the sword was drawn from its sheath, it emitted a clear and melodious sword cry, which was exceptionally pleasant to hear.
This was the first time he had actually used this sword in combat. He had used other weapons when fighting the Insect Queen, and had never had a chance to use the Insect Armor Sword. These few low-level Zombie in front of him were perfect live targets.
He took the initiative to go to them.
The Agility Zombie's claws were still half a foot away from his neck. Lu Heng raised his sword and, as was his habit, used a slashing motion to deliver a horizontal strike.
puff.
His entire right arm was severed at the shoulder, but the sword's momentum didn't diminish; it sliced open the body, and dark red blood spurted out, splashing onto the ground.
Lu Heng paused for a moment.
Its armor-piercing power far exceeded expectations.
The remaining three were already close behind. He adjusted his sword grip, and with a second vertical slash, he cleaved down from the top of one of the Zombie ' heads. The blade got stuck in the skull, and with a twist of his wrist, he forcefully split the head open. The third one pounced from the side, but he dodged it, slashed off its knee with a backhand, and as it fell to its knees, he finished it off with a stab to the throat.
Seeing that things were not going well, the last Agility Zombie turned to run. Lu Heng flicked his wrist, and the Insect Armor Sword flew out of his hand, spinning and embedding itself in the back of its neck, pinning it to the ground.
He walked over and drew his sword.
All four of them collapsed.
He had been very deliberate in his strikes just now. The first strike was his old habit, but he adjusted every strike afterward: the starting point of the force, the landing point, the speed of the sword's retraction, and the inertia brought by the weight of the sword. The Insect Armor Sword was lighter than his usual weapon, had a faster attack speed, and a crisper feel to the strikes. Swinging it in the old way would only waste its advantages. He repeatedly struck, changing the rhythm again and again, and managed to transform his fighting style.
He crouched down and rummaged through the dropped items. Three Copper Coin and one Energy Core, all low-grade goods. He casually stuffed them into his backpack, without counting them or paying any attention.
Copper Coin were of little use to him. He lived alone and was self-sufficient, rarely shopping, so he simply kept them as they were, never bothering to track their value.
He stood up, sheathed his Insect Armor Sword, and continued walking towards the Lakeside Base.
Pass through the Lakeside Base and open the Portal to return to Frost Forest.
The moment he landed, Lu Heng went out and set off for Moonview Valley. As he passed through some parts of the forest, the animals in the forest surrounded him.
Several squirrels jumped down from the tree, circling around his feet and chirping softly. A bird fluttered its wings in the distance, landing on a branch not far away, tilting its head to look at him. A fawn emerged from the bushes, glanced at him, and instead of running away, took a few steps forward, standing only two or three meters away. Further away, something moved in the treetops, making rustling sounds that carried on the breeze.
Lu Heng stood there, unsure of what to do.
He wasn't annoyed. These things meant no harm, and their noise wasn't loud. He was just not used to this kind of enthusiasm.
Surrounded by a group of creatures showing him kindness, no one had taught him how to respond. Reaching out was awkward, not reaching out was awkward, and standing still was even more awkward. He remained silent for two seconds, did nothing, and simply quickened his pace towards Moonview Valley.
The commotion behind him continued as he ran, some shouting, some jumping, until it gradually subsided at the mouth of the valley.
Moonview Valley was larger than he had expected.
Standing at the mouth of the valley and looking down, the entire valley was open and flat, and its size was enormous, comparable to the size of his former school. In the center of the valley was a small lake, its surface calm and reflecting the sky. The valley was surrounded by natural rock walls, which completely enclosed it, leaving only two openings at the north and south ends for entry and exit.
The environment is excellent.
Lu Heng walked down the valley wall, looking around as he went, and began to calculate the location of the Shelter in his mind.
Right in the center of the lake?
He glanced at the lake and rejected the idea. Living alone on the water was too awkward; he wasn't used to it, and the sound of water at night made it difficult for him to sleep soundly.
Lakeside and shore?
Too close to water, too humid.
He walked to the buffer zone between the lake shore and the natural rock walls of the valley and stopped.
The location is secluded, backed by a rock wall and facing the lake, with natural barriers on both sides. It has water and defensive depth, making it extremely safe and habitable.
Right here.
Lu Heng retrieved the Permanent Territory Certificate and bound it to the Wristband.
The Wristband popped up a prompt: [Do you want to migrate your exclusive permanent territory?]
He directly confirmed that the area had been manually demarcated and expanded outwards appropriately, encompassing the entire buffer zone.
The next second, the entire valley was bathed in a soft halo of light.
The spatial displacement felt very light, like being gently lowered from a height, without any bumps or noise. Moments later, the old Cliffside Fortress Shelter was moved to the ground and firmly embedded in the location he had designated.
Lu Heng stood there, stunned, for a long while.
He walked around to the outside and looked at the building in front of him.
The former Shelter was Fortress built against the cliff face, half-embedded in the rock wall. From the outside, it looked like a protruding rock, concealed and hidden. Now, the entire structure has been moved to the flat ground of Moonview Valley. There is no cliff wall to embed it in, so it has become a completely independent Fortress, standing there brightly, fully exposed from its original concealed state.
The concealment had changed from being "given by the terrain" to being "given by the location." He mentally weighed the pros and cons: the millet was deep enough that outsiders couldn't get in, so revealing a little bit was acceptable.
After thinking it through, he walked around the Shelter, checking everything one by one.
The fence, walls, doors, and windows are all intact, and all facilities remain unchanged.
He was completely relieved.
A breeze blew from the lake, carrying moisture. Lu Heng tugged at the collar of his armor, turned, and went inside.
