The air in the Isolation Ward carried the faint bitterness unique to medicine and Sealing Talismans. Ling struggled through intermittent agony and stupor, his consciousness like fragments submerged in deep water, rising at times and sinking at others.

Those visions-the starry sky, the shattered earth, the temple, those indifferent eyes-returned again and again, each time clearer and imbued with a more unsettling sense of "reality." They were no longer mere images. Fragmented voices, distorted symbols, and even scraps of cold knowledge began to mingle with them, forcing their way into his mind.

"Purifying erosion... observation... harmonization..."

"The Star Anchor has fractured..."

"The Nameless One... watches from the abyss..."

The words made no logical sense together, yet they made Ling shudder involuntarily even in his coma. Whenever the visions struck, the purifying erosion power deep within his eyes fluctuated with them, clashing violently with the seal and bringing another wave of agony. The Medical Team and Sealing Squad took turns standing watch, and the readings on the monitoring equipment often jumped wildly, provoking a flurry of tension.

Three days later, Ling finally barely made it past the most dangerous stage. He could remain conscious for longer stretches, though his body was still so weak that even moving a finger was difficult.

The first thing he perceived-his vision was still restricted by the sealing equipment-was the familiar chakra beside his bed: warm and resilient, carrying a faint scent of disinfectant and a barely perceptible trace of exhaustion.

"...Lady Tsunade?" His voice was so hoarse it was almost unrecognizable.

"Don't move." Tsunade's voice came from close by, unusually stern. A hand pressed gently against his forehead, and gentle, pure medical chakra flowed into him, easing the stinging pain in his nerves. "You went too far this time, Ling. Seventeen severe tears throughout your chakra pathways, minor displacement of your internal organs, trauma to your chakra source, and worst of all, the seal in your eyes-you broke nearly forty percent of it open from the inside."

Ling could feel the worry and anger beneath Tsunade's words. "Sorry... back then..."

"No need to explain what happened. I've read both the mission report and Fox's account." Tsunade cut him off, her voice softening slightly. "You saved your teammates and eliminated the threat. You did the right thing. But your method was too dangerous. That power..." She paused. "While you were unconscious, the spontaneous energy fluctuations from your eyes peaked high enough to interfere with all three layers of the protective barrier outside the ward. That isn't how an ordinary kekkei genkai or dōjutsu should behave."

Ling fell silent. He, too, had felt the difference. Even now, suppressed beneath layers of seals, something deep within those eyes seemed to be "awake," quietly observing and analyzing everything around him-the rhythm of Tsunade's chakra flow, the distribution of energy nodes in the ward's barrier, even the movement of the tiniest energy particles in the air. Information poured in automatically. Though blurred by the seals and his weakness, it could not be shut off.

"I... saw a lot of visions," Ling said quietly. "Broken... like memories, but not quite."

Tsunade's hand paused slightly. "What kind of visions?"

Ling described them as best he could, but the scenes were fragmented to begin with, difficult to convey precisely in words. When he mentioned "those indifferent eyes," Tsunade's breath caught for an almost imperceptible instant.

"I see." Her voice steadied again. "We'll discuss that when you're feeling better. Right now, the priority is stabilizing your condition and trying to reinforce the seal. Jiraiya has gone to look for ancient texts, and Orochimaru..." Her tone grew complicated. "He's also provided some records concerning ancient energy vessels and unusual dōjutsu. We need more information."

Just then, a soft knock sounded at the ward door.

"Come in," Tsunade said.

The door opened, and Fox entered with a ninja Ling had never dealt with directly, though her chakra felt somewhat familiar. She had long, pale-blond hair, a gentle yet resolute face, and a diamond-shaped Yin Seal mark on her forehead.

"Lady Tsunade." Both bowed.

"Shizune, how are things going?" Tsunade asked the female ninja.

"The Interrogation Squad encountered strong resistance during their preliminary mental reading of the captured priest," the female ninja called Shizune reported, her voice clear and steady. "The target's consciousness is protected by an extremely complex and vicious mental seal. Forcing our way through could cause his soul to collapse completely. However, we've compiled some intelligence from peripheral information and the stone tablet fragments recovered from the ancestral hall."

She glanced at Ling on the bed and continued, "The organization calls itself the Eyes of the End. What they worship isn't a god in the traditional sense, but some kind of 'power of observation and correction from beyond the sea of stars.' They believe the present world is 'distorted' and 'contaminated,' and must be 'purified' and 'returned to the correct course.' The priest was in charge of one of their 'observation posts' in the northern mountains of the Land of Fire. His task was to use specific rituals and Erosion Abyss energy to attract and capture 'fragments that have strayed from their course'-meaning the ancient Yin Release fragment within Mr. Ling. They call it an 'Echo of the Stars.'"

"Echo of the Stars..." Ling repeated under his breath.

"Yes. According to the stone tablets, the Echoes of the Stars are manifestations of portions of rules that broke away from the 'Law of the High Heavens' during the last 'Great Harmonization.' Scattered throughout the world, they unconsciously attract 'distortions' and also possess the ability to 'observe' and 'fine-tune' local reality. The Eyes of the End seeks and collects them, apparently to complete some large-scale 'Purification Ritual,' or... open a 'Gate' leading to what they call the 'correct course.'" Shizune paused. "As for the shadow monster Mr. Ling destroyed, it was a 'Lesser Observer' the priest attempted to manufacture-or rather, a weapon-by sacrificing living human souls over a long period and mixing Erosion Abyss energy with the traces of 'Echoes' he had collected. Its rampage after breaking free of the seal was probably caused by an incomplete ritual and a loss of control."

Silence settled over the ward. The information was immense in scope, carrying an unsettling sense of grandeur and strangeness.

"The last 'Great Harmonization'... the 'Law of the High Heavens'..." Tsunade's brow furrowed deeply. "There are almost no clear records of these concepts in the Shinobi World's history. They sound more like religious metaphors or myths."

"But their power is real," Fox said gravely. His mask was already off, revealing a delicate-featured face marked by a sharp scar. "Ordinary ninjutsu was almost useless against that shadow monster. The power Ling used at the end... probably touched on a similar level."

Intentionally or otherwise, everyone's gaze settled on Ling's heavily wrapped eyes.

Ling could sense the scrutiny, worry, curiosity, and even a deeply concealed trace of wariness in those gazes. Lying there, he realized with unprecedented clarity that what he carried might be far more than a special pair of eyes.

"As for Ling's eyes," Shizune continued, her tone even more cautious, "there were scattered references in the priest's memory fragments. They call similar abilities... 'Eyes of True Vision' or the 'Eye of Harmonization.' They're believed to be an 'Ascension Phenomenon' that may occur when an Echo of the Stars becomes highly compatible with a particular soul. They grant the ability to directly observe the essence of energy and interfere with local rules. In the doctrines of the Eyes of the End, this is both 'proof of contamination' and a 'key to truth,' an important target they must 'reclaim' or 'purify.'"

The temperature in the ward seemed to drop several degrees.

"In other words," Tsunade's voice turned cold, "this dangerous organization has already set its sights on Ling, specifically because of the nature of his eyes."

"Yes." Shizune nodded. "According to the information in the priest's memories, the Eyes of the End operates secretly in every country. Its structure is tight, and its objectives are clear. They're certain to react to the destruction of this base."

"Strengthen security in Konoha, especially around the hospital and Ling," Tsunade ordered immediately. "Notify the intelligence department to devote every effort to gathering information on the Eyes of the End. When Jiraiya returns, have him see me at once."

"Yes!"

After Fox and Shizune left, only Tsunade and Ling remained in the ward.

"What do you think, after hearing all that?" Tsunade looked at Ling, her gaze sharp.

Ling was silent for a moment before saying slowly, "The trouble... just got bigger. And my eyes seem... more and more 'active.' Even sealed, I can 'sense' more things."

"That's only natural. The seal is damaged, power is leaking out, and forcing yourself to use it this time may well have accelerated some kind of... 'fusion' or 'awakening' process." Tsunade walked to the window, her back to him. "Ling, you need to prepare yourself. The power you possess may involve things beyond the Shinobi World's current conventional understanding. It's powerful, but also extremely dangerous-to you and to those around you alike. Konoha will protect you and research ways to control it, but ultimately, whether you can master it without being devoured or led astray depends on you."

Her voice was calm, yet it carried tremendous weight.

"I understand," Ling said quietly. He remembered the feeling of seeing through everything and having reality obey his words when he faced the shadow monster. He also remembered the agony, weakness, and exhaustion that followed, as though even his soul was being drained dry. Power and its price were like twins.

"Focus on recovering first." Tsunade turned, her expression easing somewhat. "Once your mind is more stable, we'll try using sealing jutsu formulas to help record and sort through the visions. We may discover patterns or clues. Also..."

She hesitated, but spoke anyway. "Some fragments of ancient texts Orochimaru provided mention something like an 'Eye of Observation of the Rules,' vaguely linking it to the Sage of Six Paths' creation myth. We can't trust everything he says, but this may be an avenue for research. Once your condition allows it, we may need your cooperation with some... noninvasive tests to better understand the nature of your eyes."

Ling felt a slight chill within, but nodded. He knew he had already stepped onto a path with no turning back. The secrets in his eyes were like a whirlpool, dragging him toward an unknown deep sea.

Several more days passed. Under Tsunade's personal care, Ling's body recovered considerably, and he could now get out of bed and move slowly. After the Sealing Squad worked overtime, the seals on his eyes were temporarily reinforced into a relatively stable state. But that inner sense of "activity" had not disappeared; it had merely been suppressed deeper within.

That afternoon, Jiraiya arrived at the ward, travel-worn, with less of his usual laughter on his face and a few more traces of gravity.

"You're a tough one to kill, kid." He pulled over a chair and sat down, placing a large scroll beside the bed.

"Lord Jiraiya." Ling sat up.

"Skip the formalities." Jiraiya waved a hand and pointed at the scroll. "This is intelligence I compiled from scattered records I found after visiting several ancient shrines and ruins, some vague prophecies in the deeper sections of Mount Myōboku's Toad Secret Canon, and a few things squeezed out of Orochimaru."

He unrolled part of the scroll, revealing intricate hand-drawn patterns and annotations in ancient script. "The Eyes of the End may have existed far longer than we imagined, operating in extreme secrecy. Their ultimate purpose is still unclear, but 'collecting Echoes of the Stars' and 'finding the Eyes of True Vision' are definite objectives. You're probably very high on their list now."

"Also, concerning the 'Great Harmonization' and the 'Law of the High Heavens'..." Jiraiya pointed at several abstract symbols. "Similar metaphors appear in the ruins of multiple lost civilizations, usually connected to recurring catastrophes involving the reshaping of the world and the replacement of its rules. If these aren't merely myths, then what the Eyes of the End worships may be some... thing that once caused or experienced such a 'harmonization.' They regard the present world as a mistake that needs to be 'corrected.'"

As Ling looked at those ancient, eerie symbols, a faint tremor stirred deep within his eyes, as though they had touched some deeply buried memory.

"As for your eyes," Jiraiya rolled up the scroll and looked earnestly at Ling, "there's a very vague line in the Great Toad Sage's prophetic verse: 'When the Eye of Observation returns from the abyss, the hand of harmonization shall begin to turn.' I'm not sure whether it refers to you, but the timing and characteristics are somewhat coincidental. Ling, your power may be connected to certain ancient, vast rules of this world. That's an opportunity, but also a heavy burden-and an endless source of danger."

He patted Ling's shoulder. "Rest up and get your power under control as soon as possible. A storm is coming. We need everyone who can stand on the front line, especially... those who can 'see' the truth."

After Jiraiya left, Ling sat alone beside the bed, his fingers unconsciously rubbing the bandages around his eyes.

The Eye of Observation... the hand of harmonization... Echoes of the Stars... the Eyes of the End...

The fragmented information gradually pieced together a vague yet enormous outline. He felt as though he stood at the edge of a vast mystery, and its answer might lie within these increasingly uncontrollable eyes of his.

Toward evening, the lingering sunset shone through the specially treated window, casting warm patches of light onto the ward's floor. Ling leaned against the headboard and tried the method Tsunade had taught him, combining his weak chakra with sealing jutsu formulas to look inward at his body, particularly the area around his eyes.

Once his concentration reached a certain point, the fragments of visions surfaced again. This time, however, he struggled to remain lucid, trying to actively "observe" rather than passively endure them.

The stars revolved, and the shattered earth reassembled into part of some enormous structure-it seemed to be an inverted mountain, or the base of some gigantic tower? The temple's outline grew clearer, its style ancient and inhuman, covered in patterns he could not understand but felt contained underlying rules.

Finally came those eyes.

Indifferent and vast, they seemed to hold infinite knowledge and endless emptiness. They quietly "watched," devoid of all emotion, yet they made Ling feel a smallness and trembling rooted in the instincts of life itself.

Suddenly, those eyes seemed... to shift.

Their gaze seemed to pierce the veil of the vision and meet Ling's consciousness directly.

A cold, inhuman thought stabbed into his mind like a sharp icicle:

"Observation Unit Y-737. Abnormally active 'Echo' resonance and preliminary 'True Vision' characteristics detected. Coordinates recorded. Preparatory sequence for 'Correction Protocol'... initiated."

The vision shattered with a crash!

Ling jolted out of his inward-looking state, drenched in cold sweat, his heart pounding wildly. Burning pain stabbed through his eyes, and the skin beneath the sealing bandages felt warm and wet-he was bleeding again.

But more alarming than his physical reaction was that cold thought and the information it contained.

Observation unit? Recorded coordinates? Correction Protocol?

That wasn't background sound from a vision or an echo of memory... it was like a... response? Or rather, a... confirmation?

Had he just accidentally... connected to something?

Ling gasped violently, looking at the sunset outside as it gradually sank into darkness. For the first time, he felt a chill seep into his very bones.

His eyes were not merely a source of power. They also seemed to have become a... beacon.

And certain "things" in the distant darkness had already noticed the faint light that beacon emitted.

Night enveloped Konoha. Lights came on one after another, peaceful and tranquil.

Yet inside Ling's ward, a soundless storm filled the silence. He groped for the button to call the Medical Team, then stopped hesitantly.

Should he report it? Report what? An unverifiable conversation in a vision? A delusion that might merely be a product of his mental strain?

No... that feeling had been too real. Cold, inhuman, filled with purpose...

In the end, he pressed the button. Some risks could not be borne alone.

Just as the Medical Team's footsteps sounded in the corridor, something escaped Ling's notice: in the deepest shadow in a corner of the ward, an exceedingly faint sliver of darkness, almost indistinguishable from the natural shadows, writhed slightly as though alive, then silently dispersed as if it had never existed.

Meanwhile, outside Konoha, in an underground chamber somewhere far from the barrier.

A figure shrouded entirely in a loose black robe sat quietly on a stone seat, wearing a mask engraved with an eerie spiral, single-eye design. The air before him rippled slightly, revealing a hazy image of light and shadow. Within it, the outline of Konoha Hospital was faintly visible, with one point marked by a weak, flickering pale-purple halo.

From beneath the mask came a low, hoarse murmur, carrying a trace of barely concealed fanaticism:

"The beacon... is lit. Just as expected, in Konoha... the 'Key' is awakening..."

"Notify the Stargazer. Suspend the 'Cleanup Operation.' Initiate phase one of the 'Guidance Protocol.'"

"We need the 'Key' to... approach the 'Gate' on its own."

Several respectful, icy replies sounded from the darkness:

"As you command, High Priest."

The night deepened, and in darkness unknown to anyone, a web of conspiracy quietly took shape.
