History

Training Ling and Opposing Danzo

Fox introduces herself as acting head of the Hokage’s Direct Anbu Training Unit and assigns Rock Lee as Ling’s taijutsu instructor and fellow trainee. She provides Ling with identification papers and a training plan, then conducts weekly examinations and helps oversee his wilderness assessment 12 15.

During one examination, Ling secretly writes a warning about Danzo’s underground laboratory onto her water-soaked scroll. Fox puts the scroll away without exposing the exchange. Later, she receives his direct warning about a possible Orochimaru–Akatsuki transaction and takes the information to Tsunade 14 19.

Tsunade assigns Fox and Kakashi to lead an elite squad against Danzo’s command center while she attacks the underground laboratory. After the operation, Fox reaches Ling’s isolation room with reinforcements, reports the successful attacks, and explicitly praises his performance 19 20.

Crow’s Anbu Service and the Land of Rain Mission

Following Danzo’s defeat, Tsunade assigns Ling the codename Crow and places him in Fox’s squad alongside Azure Phoenix. Fox arranges his more secure quarters and begins him on procedural training, patrol assistance, and low-level intelligence work 21.

When controlled ninjas surround them, Fox accepts Ling’s proposal for a solo assault on the core.
