Several days passed before Bieshu Feifan slowly made his way past the Land of Rain's many patrols and finally returned to the Konoha camp.
But when Bieshu Feifan returned with spoils from a few Iwagakure Genin, the camp was completely empty.
Where was everyone?
Bieshu Feifan scratched his head. Had the war already ended?
Bieshu Feifan thought that was quite possible.
Judging by the timing, the name "Sannin" should soon be making waves.
But Jiraiya seemed to have run into Ōnoki at the Land of Earth's border.
Could he still make it back?
"Forget it. I'll look for the main force first. If I can't find them, I'll just head straight back to Konoha."
Bieshu Feifan kept walking south.
Before long, he found the Konoha camp.
The Konoha camp was now dilapidated and lifeless.
Aside from the wounded's wails, there was only the patter of rain washing over the earth.
When Bieshu Feifan returned, the patrolling Shinobi confirmed his identity and let him through.
They did not question him much.
At first, Bieshu Feifan wondered whether Konoha was really this lax during wartime.
But he soon understood. Every so often, routed Konoha soldiers would return.
Bieshu Feifan volunteered to help the severely wounded move bodies.
Then he asked a short-haired Medical Ninja:
"Hey, brother, did we lose?"
The Shinobi, who had just finished treating a wounded soldier, rolled her eyes at Bieshu Feifan.
"I'm a woman."
"Oh. Then, sister, did we lose?"
The Medical Ninja said irritably:
"Can't you see for yourself?"
"No."
The Medical Ninja was utterly speechless. She took out a cigarette and lit it as she said:
"We lost."
"Oh."
Bieshu Feifan answered, then turned to leave.
The Medical Ninja frowned.
"Hey, kid, aren't you going to ask anything else?"
Bieshu Feifan did not look back.
