Background
Tang San originally belonged to the Shu Central Tang Sect in another world. Ji Xuanyuan reveals that he stole the sect’s supreme techniques, fell from a cliff after being exposed, and crossed a Plane Rift into the body of a newborn. Tang San’s internal reaction confirms that the revelation exposes his most closely guarded secret. Ji Xuanyuan further states that the infant’s original soul was destroyed during the possession 33.
Raised by Tang Hao in Holy Soul Village, Tang San retained knowledge from his previous life. His training methods, familiarity with immortal herbs, and ability to manufacture unfamiliar hidden weapons later become evidence that his knowledge did not originate from an ordinary childhood 33 34.
By the Sky Screen’s arrival, he is a Shrek Academy student and Grandmaster Yu Xiaogang’s disciple. Hearing the name “Peerless Tang Sect” convinces him that he must have established the Tang Sect in this world’s future 1.
Personality
Tang San is calculating and quick to exploit opportunities. Rather than remain an anonymous observer, he reveals his identity to future Shrek leaders and secures their cooperation in promoting their timeline. Later, despite opposing the Human Emperor World, he deliberately studies its research to strengthen his own position 6 9 22 23.
His loyalty is strongest toward Xiao Wu and Tang Hao. He vows to destroy the Body Sect after Du Busi threatens Xiao Wu, supports his injured father after defeat, and initially treats both his father and teacher as incapable of betraying him 12 18 20.
That loyalty coexists with an uncompromising demand for obedience. He considers Huo Yuhao deserving of death over a tuition-waiver allocation, insists that Tang Hao’s former subordinate clans owe lifelong allegiance, and treats disagreement over the future timeline as betrayal. After learning of his future godhood, he begins viewing humanity as his future subjects 3 12 22 25.
His confidence falters when confronted by overwhelming force. Although he privately imagines his hidden weapons challenging the Human Emperor, he begs Ji Xuanyuan for mercy when restrained and facing death 15 34.
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass
The original-era Tang San can manifest Blue Silver Grass from his palm 15.
- He initially regards it with disdain after witnessing Chen Xie’s Dark Demon Evil God Tiger Martial Soul 15.
- Its connection to his mother’s Blue Silver Emperor identity is publicly disclosed through Tang Hao 32.
- The supplied passages do not document its combat techniques or Soul Rings.
Tang Sect Techniques and Hidden Weapons
Tang San retains technical knowledge from his former sect, including the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record 15 33.
- He recognizes similarities between the Human Emperor World’s “Flying Knife” technique and hidden force 9.
- Flender identifies his manufacture of previously unseen hidden weapons as one of the mysteries explained by his otherworldly origin 34.
- His belief that the manual’s weapons could threaten Ji Xuanyuan remains untested in the supplied passages 15.
Immortal-Herb Knowledge
Tang San can identify the potential cultivation benefits of immortal herbs 16.
- He explains that they can improve talent, raise Soul Power, produce special bodily effects, and sometimes evolve Martial Souls 16.
- He identifies Aromatic Silk Beauty as the herb responsible for Ning Rongrong’s future Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda evolution 16.
- His expedition to obtain the herbs ends in confrontation; no herb consumption or resulting advancement is documented for him 17 18.
Divine Perception and Surveillance
The future Tang San possesses divine senses capable of investigating the lower realm 25 26.
- He reads the memories of Super Douluos outside Sea God Pavilion to learn about the competing timelines 26.
- He projects his face across the sky to address the population 32.
- He receives Sky Screen footage through a Surveillance Divine Art operating on the Douluo Continent 49.
- Limit: His golden-light attack passes through the Sky Screen without damaging or disturbing it 26.
Authority over Asura God Trials
As the current Asura God, the future Tang San controls access to that position’s inheritance trials 50.
- He seals subsequent trial inheritances after obtaining the god position 50.
- He detects Tang Chen’s renewed trial activity and revokes his eligibility rather than risk surrendering Asura authority 50 51.
Manipulation of His Daughter
Xiao Wu recalls that Tang San split their daughter into three parts and sent her into the mortal world as part of a plan to secure the continent’s “anomalous star” as her husband 52.
- He later intends to erase his daughter’s memories to remove her hostility toward him 59.
- The supplied passages do not show that planned memory erasure being carried out.
Equipment & Items
- Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record — Tang Sect secret manual containing the hidden-weapon knowledge on which he bases his confidence against stronger opponents 15.
- Immortal-herb booklet — Consulted while explaining the treasures at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and planning an immediate expedition 16.
- Hidden weapons — Weapons of unfamiliar designs that he is known to have crafted; no individual weapon names are supplied 34.
Relationships
- Tang Hao — Raises Tang San as his son and supports his campaign for the Peerless Tang Sect timeline. Even after learning about the body possession, Tang Hao cannot abandon their years of attachment and offers his life to save him 8 33 34.
- Ah Yin — Mother of the body Tang San inhabits. Her Human Emperor World counterpart has no corresponding relationship with Tang Hao or Tang San and rejects their claims of familial intimacy 32 33.
- Xiao Wu — His closest companion in the original era and wife in the future timeline. The younger Xiao Wu offers her life for his; the future Xiao Wu continues defending him after discovering his concealed origins 34 52.
- Yu Xiaogang / Grandmaster — His teacher. Tang San increasingly recognizes the shortcomings of his theories but retains the principle that a teacher deserves lifelong respect. Yu Xiaogang later feels deceived by his hidden adult identity, yet still asks the public to stop humiliating him after his death 23 34 36 56.
- Ning Rongrong — Former Shrek teammate. Their friendship breaks when Tang San demands that her family relinquish the immortal herb and orders his father to attack after she leaves Shrek 17.
- Ji Xuanyuan / Human Emperor — Rival to Tang San’s preferred future and eventual executioner of his younger incarnation. Ji Xuanyuan also publicly exposes his otherworldly origin 25 33 35.
- Tang Chen — Great-grandfather through Tang San’s host body. The future Tang San strips the visiting Tang Chen of Asura trial eligibility, prioritizing his divine authority over kinship 50 51.
- Wang Dong / Xiao Qi — His daughter in the future timeline. Unaware of the full familial connection while criticizing him, she condemns both his conduct and his treatment of Tang Chen 52.
- Mu En — Accepts the young observer’s identity after confirmation from the Golden Tree and cooperates with his promotion of the Peerless Tang Sect world 6.
- Huo Yuhao — Receives the Tang Sect’s tuition-waiver quota instead of Tang San during his observer visit, provoking Tang San’s private murderous resentment 3.
- Dai Mubai — Shrek companion who later appeals to the future Tang San for help after being crippled. Tang San knowingly declines to intervene 53 56 62.
Story Role / Major Arcs
First Observation of Peerless Tang Sect
Chosen as an observer alongside Ning Rongrong and Bibi Dong, Tang San immediately selects the Peerless Tang Sect timeline. The system assigns him an identity as a Tang Sect member, but he discovers that the once-glorious sect has declined and that he must sell grilled fish for a meager income 2 3.
After reading that the Shrek Seven Devils all became gods, he reveals his origins to Mu En and Xuan Zi. The Golden Tree authenticates him, and Mu En agrees to help present their world to viewers ten thousand years earlier. Tang San returns when his observation period ends, confident that the continent will favor this future 6 7.
Campaign for His Preferred Future
Back at Shrek, Tang San urges his companions to choose Peerless Tang Sect and seeks the support of major factions. Ning Fengzhi’s refusal to commit immediately frustrates him, while Tang Hao proposes approaching the four clans once subordinate to him 8.
The Human Emperor World’s cultivation methods nevertheless attract his interest. He supports Grandmaster’s proposal to discredit self-created Soul Skills publicly while privately planning to learn those same methods before moving to his preferred timeline 9.
Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well Conflict
Tang San’s group races to obtain immortal herbs, only to find the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect already there. He demands Ning Rongrong’s withdrawal and treats her refusal as grounds to sever their former friendship. Ning Rongrong leaves Shrek, and Tang San tells Tang Hao to attack 16 17.
Chen Xin defeats Tang Hao, including after he detonates all nine Soul Rings. The group subsequently enters the Human Emperor World rather than its preferred destination. Tang San suspects that someone voted against him, and distrust spreads among the Shrek members 18 19 20.
Research in the Human Emperor World
Tang San orders his companions to investigate Soul Tools, cultivation methods, and research systems, intending to carry the knowledge into the Peerless Tang Sect timeline. He chooses to visit Human Emperor Academy and finds its systematic Martial Soul research vastly superior to Grandmaster’s theories 22 23.
Exposure and Death of the Younger Tang San
After Tang Hao mistakes the local Ah Yin for his wife, Tang San recognizes that she belongs to a different world. Nevertheless, he tells her that rejecting his father will be her greatest regret. Ji Xuanyuan intervenes, restrains him, and exposes his previous life and possession of Tang Hao’s infant son 32 33.
Xiao Wu and Tang Hao each offer their lives in exchange for his. Ji Xuanyuan instead condemns all three and kills them through an invisible power of rules. Tang San dies regretting the boastful remarks that provoked the confrontation 34 35.
The Future Sea God’s Intervention
The already-ascended Tang San remains a separate participant. After discovering the Sky Screen and failing to destroy it, he publicly campaigns against the Human Emperor World, invoking its alleged connection to the Dragon God 25 26 32.
His speeches increasingly alienate viewers. The revelation of his mixed ancestry further damages his appeal, and Peerless Tang Sect’s support falls to 11%. Unable to force the population’s decision, he withdraws from the sky 32.
Collapse of His Divine Reputation
Footage exposing the younger Tang San’s possession is later broadcast within the Peerless Tang Sect world itself. The revelation undermines faith in the Sea God and threatens Shrek’s credibility, which rests heavily on his legacy 49.
His revocation of Tang Chen’s trial eligibility creates another scandal. Xiao Wu’s attempt to restore his reputation through a video of his achievements instead prompts renewed criticism. By the later chapters, Tang San dismisses further accusations as inconsequential, plans to erase his daughter’s unfavorable memories, and ignores Dai Mubai’s appeals for rescue 50 51 53 55 56 59 62.
