Background / History

Family and Tang San’s Childhood

Tang Hao is Tang Xiao’s younger brother and Tang San’s father. His relationship with Ah Yin, a soul beast whose true form was the Blue Silver Emperor, was known within the Clear Sky Sect. His earlier clash with Pope Qian Xunji left the pope severely injured and established him as a longstanding enemy of Spirit Hall 4.

He was allowed to settle in Old Jack’s village because he carried a recommendation from the Blacksmiths’ Guild. During Tang San’s childhood, he left the boy to cook before the age of three and work for other households to buy him liquor. Tang San survived largely on thin gruel, suffering malnutrition that depleted his physical foundation. Tang Hao later attributed his neglect to grief over Tang San’s mother’s death 3 20 23.

Exposure by the Pride of Heaven Ranking

The Pride of Heaven Ranking placed Tang San tenth and publicly identified both Tang Hao’s neglect and Yu Xiaogang’s instruction as causes of his damaged potential. Tang Hao focused his anger on Yu Xiaogang, slapping him and crushing his left leg. He stopped short of killing him only when Yu Xiaogang claimed to know how to add Soul Rings to Twin Martial Souls without causing the user’s body to explode 3.

When Oscar received a higher assessment than Tang San, Tang Hao crushed Yu Xiaogang’s other leg. Meanwhile, Tang Xiao ordered the Clear Sky Sect’s intelligence networks to locate his brother so he could confront him under the family laws 4.

Seizure of the Ranking Rewards

Tang Hao seized Oscar’s rewarded torso Soul Bone before Oscar could take it. Although Tang San initially asked him to return it, Tang Hao silenced his son and justified the theft as an investment in Tang San’s future. Upon discovering that Tang San already possessed a torso bone, he retained Oscar’s reward for a future exchange instead 7.

He then intercepted Zhu Zhuqing, took her Soul Bone, and attempted to kill her because he considered her potential too threatening. Flender diverted his hammer strike, while Zhao Wuji cushioned its effects, but the resulting injuries remained fatal. Yue Guan drew Tang Hao away by mentioning Tang San, and Zhu Zhuqing died less than two hours after his departure 8 9.

Training in the Star Dou Great Forest

Tang Hao subsequently trained with Tang San in the Star Dou Great Forest, promising to repair his physical deficiencies and devote himself to his development. He hoped to cleanse the harmful Soul Ring attributes from Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass and still regarded his son as a means of taking revenge on Spirit Hall 3 18.

After learning that Tang San possessed an unknown cultivation method, Tang Hao pressured him to explain its origins. When Tang San hesitated, he pretended to leave, invoking his failures as a father until Tang San knelt and agreed to tell him 23.

To meet the requirement for learning Tang Sect arts, Tang Hao formally joined the sect under Tang San, kneeling and kowtowing to his son as sect master. He then studied its cultivation methods and techniques, becoming particularly impressed by the Mysterious Heaven Skill 27 33.

While he remained in a cave training, Bibi Dong launched a renewed search for him. She believed Captain Wang’s claim that Tang Hao had caused Yu Xiaogang’s mental collapse, although the jailers had abused Yu Xiaogang before his release. Her offer of at least one Soul Bone for verified information about Tang Hao’s whereabouts drew Spirit Hall powerhouses into the forest 42 43.

Dragon-Tiger Ranking

The Dragon-Tiger Ranking placed contestants on equal terms without their usual Soul Power or physical foundation. Tang Hao survived its hundred-beast trial through a combination of hidden weapons, rudimentary Tang Sect techniques, and selective use of the Clear Sky Hammer. After killing all one hundred Soul Beasts, he entered the ten-person finals and confidently claimed that first place would be his 33 41.

In the finals, he faced the resurrected Zhu Zhuqing. His barrage of hidden weapons inadvertently supplied her with numerous small shadows through which to move and attack. Unable to counter her simultaneous bodily and shadow assaults, he was cut apart until his consciousness dissipated 45.

The defeat did not kill his physical body. Returned to his preparation space, he screamed in terror and needed several minutes to recognize that the fight had ended. He ultimately placed seventh and advanced from level 92 to level 95 through the ranking reward, despite resenting the size of his gain 46 50.

Personality

Tang Hao repeatedly uses overwhelming strength to intimidate weaker people. He dismisses Oscar’s prospects as a food-type Soul Master, takes his reward, and forces him to kneel when he attempts to retrieve it. He similarly condemns Zhu Zhuqing’s soul-related potential as an evil path before attempting to eliminate her 6 7 8.

His treatment of Tang San combines declarations of affection with manipulation and instrumental motives. Although he acknowledges his earlier neglect, he initially avoids responsibility when the ranking exposes it. His private thoughts during the hundred-beast trial describe Tang San as useful because of his techniques and equipment, sharply contrasting with his promises of wholehearted paternal care 3 18 23 41.

He is willing to set aside pride when he sees a practical benefit. He readily accepts Tang San’s authority as Tang Sect master to obtain its arts, yet remains arrogant toward competitors, dismissing the other finalists before suffering defeat himself 27 41 45.

Abilities & Skills

Clear Sky Hammer

Tang Hao’s weapon-type Martial Soul delivers destructive hammer strikes 8.

  • A strike that misses Zhu Zhuqing still creates an enormous crater and inflicts fatal injuries through its shock wave and pressure 8 9.
  • It remains summonable within the Dragon-Tiger Ranking’s Soul Power-restricted space 41 45.
  • Using it under those restrictions rapidly drains his stamina, forcing him to reserve it for situations he cannot evade 41.

Soul Power Pressure

His Titled Douluo-level aura can immobilize or subdue substantially weaker Soul Masters 3 7 8.

  • Prevents Flender and Zhao Wuji from approaching during his assault on Yu Xiaogang 3.
  • Forces Oscar to his knees without physical contact 7.
  • Leaves Zhu Zhuqing unable to flee his approaching hammer strike 8.

Mysterious Heaven Skill

Learned from Tang San after joining the Tang Sect, this internal cultivation method circulates Soul Power through the body’s meridians 27.

  • Increases his cultivation speed and the speed at which he mobilizes Soul Power 33.
  • Remains at an introductory stage during his preparations for the Dragon-Tiger Ranking, with additional uses still unexplored 33.

Tang Sect Combat Techniques

Tang Hao supplements his hammer with techniques taught by Tang San 27 41.

  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track: Uses its footwork to survive the Soul Beast trial, though his execution remains unpracticed 41.
  • Purple Demon Eye: Has barely begun learning it when he reaches the trial 41.
  • Hidden-weapon throwing: Can launch dense barrages, but his Heavenly Maiden Scattering Flowers technique lacks accuracy and force 41 45.
  • Combat observation: Recognizes that reducing the shadows around him could restrict Zhu Zhuqing’s attacks, but cannot clear the hundreds of weapons he has scattered quickly enough 45.

Equipment / Items

  • Sleeve Arrow — A small crossbow personally strapped onto him by Tang San; helps him survive the hundred-beast trial 41.
  • Twenty-Four Bridges on a Moonlit Night — Uses it to retrieve hidden weapons during his fight with Zhu Zhuqing 45.
  • Assorted hidden weapons — Includes willow-leaf throwing knives. Their shadows become attack routes for Zhu Zhuqing during his defeat 45.
  • Oscar’s torso Soul Bone — Seizes the Fire Element Control reward and retains it with the stated intention of exchanging it for a more suitable bone for Tang San 7.
  • Zhu Zhuqing’s Soul Bone — Takes it before delivering the attack that kills her original physical body 8 45.

Relationships

  • Tang San — Son, later sect master and martial-arts teacher. Tang Hao’s neglect damages his childhood foundation; their later training relationship remains marked by manipulation and Tang San’s longing for paternal affection 3 23 27 41.
  • Ah Yin — Partner and Tang San’s mother. Tang Hao invokes grief over her death to explain his earlier treatment of their son 4 23.
  • Tang Xiao — Elder brother and Clear Sky Sect master. Condemns his neglect of Tang San but later celebrates his advancement to Super Douluo 4 50.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Tang San’s former teacher and Tang Hao’s captive. Spared because of his claimed knowledge of Twin Martial Souls, but has both legs crushed 3 4 23.
  • Zhu Zhuqing — Victim turned sworn enemy. After he steals her Soul Bone and kills her original body, she returns and defeats him in the Dragon-Tiger Ranking 8 9 45.
  • Oscar — Victim of Soul Bone theft and public humiliation 7.
  • Bibi Dong — Enemy who renews the hunt for him over Yu Xiaogang’s condition, offering Soul Bones for verified information 43.
  • Da Ming and Er Ming — Deeply distrust him. They fear he may blame them for Yu Xiaogang’s escape or scheme to take their Soul Rings and Soul Bones 23 43.
