- A village defender later estimates her strength at around level 50, but no corresponding breakthrough or Soul Ring acquisition is documented 54.
Background / History
Noble upbringing and departure from Shrek
Zhu Zhuqing was born into a noble family. Her upbringing included learning to recognize whale rubber by smell to avoid accidentally consuming what nobles used as an aphrodisiac. Her family belongs to the Star Luo Empire’s marriage-alliance system and maintains a tradition of bloody duels. Before her death, she intended to seek an expert in the Heaven Dou Empire and become strong enough to defeat Dai Weisi and Zhu Zhuyun independently 2 6 25.
After the Pride of Heaven Ranking exposed the damage caused by Yu Xiaogang’s instruction, she quietly withdrew from Shrek Academy. She considered its lack of resources, repetitive running exercises, and treatment of students as experimental subjects unacceptable. Before leaving, she found Xiao Wu, invited her to come along, and warned her about Tang San’s unsettling attention 3 6.
Death and resurrection
Tang Hao intercepted Zhu Zhuqing after the ranking rewards were distributed, took her Soul Bone, and attempted to kill her. Flender knocked his hammer off course, while Zhao Wuji cushioned her fall and reduced the impact. Their intervention prevented an immediate death but could not save her. Watching Flender endure humiliation to protect her moved Zhu Zhuqing to tears and strengthened her resolve to kill Tang Hao 8.
She died less than two hours after Tang Hao left and was buried in the crater his attack had created. Wang Qiye subsequently discovered a faint power beneath her grave, observed its development into a three-tailed black cat, and transmitted a cultivation art to it 9.
When her cultivation nearly went astray, Wang Qiye returned and purified the corrupted cats surrounding her. Zhu Zhuqing regained consciousness in two human bodies and accepted him as her master. She asked for the strength to control her destiny and avenge her death, but first had to learn how to coordinate her revived body and shadow 25 32.
Dragon-Tiger Ranking
In the consciousness-based Dragon-Tiger Ranking, Zhu Zhuqing defeated Tang San despite his crossbow bolts and Heavenly Maiden Scattering Blossoms technique. The ranking explicitly rejected his accusation that her shadow abilities were cheating 28 37.
She later faced Tang Hao and exploited the shadows beneath his scattered hidden weapons to attack from multiple directions. After overwhelming him, she inflicted a hundred cuts before his tournament consciousness dissipated. This victory did not kill Tang Hao outside the arena; she promised to confront him again with Titled Douluo strength 45 50.
During the final free-for-all, she discovered that Ning Rongrong was also Wang Qiye’s disciple and disputed her claim to seniority. Zhu Zhuqing eliminated Lou Gao by passing through his attack and piercing his armored chest, but Ning Rongrong understood her cultivation art and countered both her body and shadow. Zhu Zhuqing ultimately finished second 48 49 50.
The “newcomer gift pack”
Following Wang Qiye’s directions, Zhu Zhuqing reached a secluded village whose residents all possessed Soul Power. His recorded message described them as Tang Hao’s friends and family and indicated that the area contained opportunities to advance her cultivation. Enraged, she destroyed the recording device and approached the village 53.
After an initial confrontation with a level-56 villager, she returned at night. She killed Tang Long, a Clear Sky Sect direct-line disciple, and Tang Zhongpu’s wife, then continued attacking other households. A defender described as a level-60 Soul Emperor resisted her ambush and wounded her with a hammer-generated shock wave, forcing her to flee before the patrols arrived 53 54.
Appearance
- Figure: Described as notably curvaceous; she objects when Ning Rongrong addresses her by her bust rather than her name 47 48.
- Martial Soul manifestation: Three tails appear behind her Hell Spirit Cat Martial Soul after its traits are activated 25.
- Shadow form: Her body and shadow can shift between solid and insubstantial states, sometimes appearing as two separate figures 32 49.
Personality
Zhu Zhuqing is determined to gain control over her own life rather than rely on institutions or stronger people. She recognizes Shrek Academy’s failings, leaves despite its prestigious claims, and asks Wang Qiye for practical instruction. Wang Qiye values her diligence and eagerness to learn, although she struggles with his explanations of reincarnation and insists that her comprehension is good by her family’s standards 6 25 32 43.
She shows affection toward Xiao Wu, gratitude toward Wang Qiye, and a capacity to revise her judgments when Flender risks himself for her. After her murder, however, vengeance increasingly dominates her behavior. She takes pleasure in tormenting Tang Hao’s tournament consciousness, extends her hatred to Tang San and the Clear Sky Sect, and kills villagers associated with them 6 8 25 45 53 54.
Abilities & Skills
Nine Lives Profound Art of Penetrating the Netherworld
Wang Qiye’s cultivation art enables her return to life and develops her Martial Soul’s shadow and reincarnation traits 25.
- Reincarnation: Wang Qiye explains that she has already died once and can die twice more; the third death would be final 25.
- Unified identity: Her apparently separate body and shadow are one person. Wang Qiye identifies the shadow with her past life rather than an independent clone 32.
- Cultivation risk: Losing her human self-perception could leave her believing she is a cat and unable to recover human form. Severe cultivation deviation could defeat even her reincarnation safeguard 25.
- Interpretation barrier: Its original symbols belong to the realm of the dead and are incomprehensible to her after returning to life 25.
Shadow Form and Movement
Zhu Zhuqing can become insubstantial and move through existing shadows 37 43 45.
- Allows projectiles and sword strikes to pass through her without making contact 37 48.
- Enables concealment within shadows, trees, and walls, including hiding near villagers without being detected 43 54.
- Uses even tiny shadows beneath embedded weapons as routes for repositioning 45.
- Movement is extremely fast but not instantaneous; Tang Hao notices a delay when she enters and exits shadows 45.
- Darkness favors her infiltration, while Ning Rongrong’s protective radiance prevents nearby shadows from forming 49 54.
Shadow Attacks
Her body and shadow can attack from different directions while remaining aspects of the same person 32 45.
- Forms hand blades, spikes, spears, and other piercing or cutting shapes from shadow 45 53.
- Sends attacks through one shadow to emerge from another 45.
- Pierces Lou Gao’s Deep Sea Silver armor in the Soul-Power-free tournament arena 48.
- Operates without Soul Power because these techniques derive from her cultivation method rather than conventional Soul Skills 37 45.
- Does not provide complete protection against every attack: sonic and hammer-generated shock-wave attacks successfully strike her 53 54.
Agility and Close Combat
Her agility-oriented Martial Soul is enhanced by martial cultivation 37.
- Outpaces Tang San by at least thirty percent during their tournament encounter 37.
- Attacks roughly twice as fast as Tang Hao in the consciousness arena, despite having slightly less strength 45.
- Can precisely control the depth of her cuts, as demonstrated while tormenting Tang Hao 45.
- Remains inferior to Ning Rongrong in speed, strength, and anticipation during the final 48 49.
Latent Netherworld Potential
The Pride of Heaven Ranking identifies an affinity with the laws of shadows, souls, death, and the netherworld—not mastery of those laws 6.
- Exceptional comprehension could allow her to establish a Netherworld Ghost Domain, gather departed souls, and become Lord of the Netherworld 6.
- An alternative evolutionary path is ancestral reversion into a Three-Life Spirit Cat 6.
- Wang Qiye considers either outcome highly unlikely without further intervention. Her later three-tailed manifestation is described as activation of her existing Martial Soul’s traits, not a confirmed completed evolution 6 25.
Relationships
- Wang Qiye — Master and benefactor. Provides her cultivation art, restores her human consciousness, and teaches her to control her body and shadow 9 25 32 43.
- Xiao Wu — The only person Zhu Zhuqing calls her friend at Shrek. She invites Xiao Wu to leave and warns her about Tang San 6.
- Ning Rongrong — Fellow disciple and tournament rival. Zhu Zhuqing resists acknowledging her seniority, but Ning Rongrong defeats her and secures her second-place finish 48 49 50.
- Tang Hao — Principal revenge target. Steals her Soul Bone and causes her first death; she defeats his tournament consciousness but continues seeking his actual death 8 45 53.
- Tang San — Enemy whom she defeats in the Dragon-Tiger Ranking and threatens to kill outside it 37 53.
- Flender and Zhao Wuji — Former academy authorities who intervene against Tang Hao. Their efforts delay her death, and Flender’s willingness to suffer for her changes her view of him 8.
- Yu Xiaogang — Discredited instructor whose treatment of students contributes to her departure from Shrek Academy 3 6.
