Background / History
Transmigration and the Soul Power Ceiling
Wang Qiye is a transmigrator who recalls spending twenty years in the Douluo world. His familiarity with the characters of “Douluo I” informs his expectations of the Pride of Heaven Ranking, although he does not anticipate taking first place himself 6 17 18.
Chen Xin watched him grow from a child into a level-99 Titled Douluo while remaining at level 96 himself. After Wang Qiye reached the limit of Soul Power, First-Level Gods, Second-Level Gods, and even Asura God offered him divine positions because he could adapt to almost any of them 5 24.
He refused these offers after learning that even First-Level Gods could not freely leave the Divine Realm without passing their positions to successors. Unwilling to exchange freedom for ascension, but still facing a finite lifespan, he developed the Martial Dao Transcendence Plan: establish a new cultivation path through the collective growth of people practicing his arts 24.
Establishing His Teaching Base
At the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, Wang Qiye formally accepted Ning Rongrong after requiring her to uphold three commandments. One explicitly forbids oppressing the innocent and virtuous; he warned that violations would lead him to personally purge the offender from his school. Ning Fengzhi welcomed the apprenticeship as a lasting connection between Wang Qiye and the sect 1.
Wang Qiye had also instructed Ning Rongrong to purchase large quantities of whale rubber. The sect acquired nearly the entire market supply three years before the ranking publicly revealed its constitution-strengthening effects, making the stockpile a target for other major powers 2.
Zhu Zhuqing and the Attack on the Sect
While traveling toward Shrek Academy, Wang Qiye discovered an unfamiliar power beneath Zhu Zhuqing’s grave. He spent several days deducing a cultivation method from it, transmitted the resulting information underground, and then received Ning Rongrong’s urgent call for help 9.
On his return journey, he intervened at Skywater Academy, where Shui Bing’er was being pressured to surrender her Soul Bone. He took the bone, accepted her request to take both sisters away, and subdued the headmistress when she tried to stop him. He subsequently accepted Shui Bing’er and Shui Yue’er as nominal disciples 10 17 20.
Back at the sect, Wang Qiye overwhelmed Tang Xiao, two Clear Sky Sect elders, and Yu Yuanzhen. Rather than execute the surviving attackers, he required Tang Xiao to transfer the Clear Sky Sect’s authority in the Blacksmiths’ Guild to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. He detained Yu Yuanzhen and seized the True Dragon Nine Crowns 12 13. Tang Xiao later arranged outward compliance while secretly keeping at least seventy percent of the guild’s money flowing to the Clear Sky Sect 28.
Public Recognition and Continental Teaching
The Pride of Heaven Ranking revealed Wang Qiye as its first-place prodigy under the title Martial Dao Grandmaster. His appearance exposed the identity of the young expert who had defeated Tang Xiao and attracted Qian Renxue’s interest 18 24.
He then distributed specialized inheritances beyond his immediate teaching base. He left Ma Hongjun the Bhagavad Gita to help control his instincts and returned to purify Zhu Zhuqing’s corrupted manifestations, restoring her to human form in two bodies. Teaching Zhu Zhuqing took ten days rather than the half-day he had originally planned 21 25 43.
His plans also alarmed Qian Renxue. While visiting under the identity of Xue Qinghe, she concluded that his arrangements could make the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect Spirit Hall’s greatest enemy. She suspected that he was gathering faith to pursue godhood, rather than identifying the mechanism of his martial Dao system 33.
After the Dragon-Tiger Ranking, Wang Qiye approached Ye Lingling intending to recruit her. On learning that Dugu Bo had treated her honorably, he accepted her refusal to change masters and gave her an inheritance anyway. He also taught Dugu Bo a method to neutralize his family’s self-poisoning, while making him responsible for Ye Lingling’s safety 51 52.
Appearance
Wang Qiye wears fitted black clothing and is repeatedly described as having a fierce, tiger-like gaze 1 6 12.
- Soul Rings: Nine black rings, displayed during his intervention at Skywater Academy 10.
- Golden eyes during purification: Golden light blazes from his pupils when he purifies Zhu Zhuqing’s corrupted cat manifestations 25.
Personality
Wang Qiye combines affectionate teasing with demanding instruction. He indulges Ning Rongrong’s closeness but refuses to excuse wasted talent, using scoldings, physical punishment, tests, and threatened seclusion to push her toward serious practice. He eventually assigns her to teach the Shui sisters, giving her responsibility rather than simply enforcing isolation 13 16 17 20.
His expectations are distorted by his own ability and Ning Rongrong’s exceptional comprehension. He initially treats simplified arts as easy material, then struggles to understand why other students cannot learn them as quickly. Nevertheless, he continues personally supervising Zhu Zhuqing because mistakes in her art could destroy her sense of identity 28 32 43.
He is protective but ruthless toward perceived threats. He considers displaying defeated enemies’ heads outside the sect as a deterrent, controls Yu Yuanzhen through the True Dragon Nine Crowns, and threatens Dugu Bo’s entire group if Ye Lingling dies 13 24 52. He can also revise his judgment: after hearing Ye Lingling’s account, he releases Dugu Bo and rewards his honorable conduct 52.
His generosity serves a deliberate purpose. He openly teaches powerful arts instead of restricting them to a family or sect, but every recipient’s growth contributes to his own path. He recognizes that his individual martial Dao cannot establish a complete inheritance system by itself 24 52.
Abilities & Skills
Martial Dao System of Divine Transcendence
The system tracks disciples, foundational realms, and the development of cultivation arts 1 24.
- Collective advancement: The growth of people who accept his arts adds to the foundation of his own path 24.
- Realm deduction: The panel progresses from deducing Iron Bone Realm to deducing Golden Juice Realm 1 24.
- Art monitoring: He can observe cultivation-art progress remotely, including rapid updates associated with Ma Hongjun 32.
- Dependence on practitioners: His plan requires many people developing martial Dao, not merely his own cultivation 52.
Martial Arts Deduction and Transmission
Wang Qiye creates arts suited to an individual’s characteristics and can transmit cultivation information directly 9 24 52.
| Art / Inheritance | Documented Use |
|---|---|
| Nine Transformations of Heaven and Man | Tracked by his system at the second level; its specific effects are not described in the supplied passages 24 32. |
| Nine Lives Profound Art of Penetrating the Netherworld | Developed through his study of the power beneath Zhu Zhuqing’s grave. Enables her return from death and activates her Martial Soul’s three-life traits. Ning Rongrong also studies a copy 9 16 25. |
| Bhagavad Gita | An art he deduced and gave to Ma Hongjun to help control his instincts. Soul Beasts also behave unusually submissively around Wang Qiye while he credits the art’s usefulness 21 24. |
| Five Elements Fist | An introductory martial art taught to the Shui sisters; Ning Rongrong is proficient enough to instruct them 17. |
| Cha Wo Can Tong Qi | Transmitted directly to Dugu Bo’s mind to prevent the Dugu family’s toxins from harming their own bodies once mastered 52. |
| Ye Lingling’s inheritance | Given in a thick book despite her refusal to become his apprentice; its name and specific effects are not disclosed 52. |
- Teaching limitation: Simplification does not eliminate the need for comprehension; the Shui sisters struggle with introductory material, while Zhu Zhuqing requires prolonged supervision 17 28 43.
- Netherworld-art danger: Zhu Zhuqing nearly loses her human identity through cultivation deviation. Wang Qiye warns that treating her manifestations as separate people risks madness 25 32.
Unarmed Combat and Technique Adaptation
Wang Qiye defeats multiple Titled Douluo without revealing his Martial Soul or using a Soul Skill 12 13.
- Exceptional strength: Catches Tang Xiao’s Clear Sky Hammer after an attack combining eighty-one layers of Chaotic Cloak with the Ninth Soul Skill, Thousand Mountains Shattered 12 13.
- Immediate adaptation: Reproduces the momentum-building principle of Chaotic Cloak after seeing it, applying a hammer technique through his bare hand 12.
- Durability: Takes Yu Yuanzhen’s Fifth Soul Skill without injury or damage to his clothing 12.
- Evasion: Moves through coordinated hammer strikes and lightning attacks while holding Ning Rongrong 12.
- Demigod-level opposition: Clear Sky Sect members later recall that he suppressed Yu Yuanzhen despite the latter possessing a demigod-level body through the divine artifact 50.
- Limits shown: He avoids stronger lightning rather than taking it head-on, and dodges the elders’ Soul Power-enhanced hammer blows 12.
Purification and Restraint
Wang Qiye can exert power over corrupted manifestations and immobilize other cultivators with minimal visible action 25 51 52.
- Golden purification: Disperses Zhu Zhuqing’s corrupted cats, releases the souls trapped within them, and allows their smoke to gather into her two human manifestations 25.
- Immobilization: Prevents level-96 Dugu Bo from moving or speaking with a wave of his hand 50 51.
- Gaze-based restraint: Freezes Dugu Yan and Yu Tianheng in place with a glare 52.
- Rapid repositioning: Beckons Ye Lingling from behind Dugu Bo to his side before Dugu Bo can perceive how he acts 51.
Knowledge of Laws and Cultivation Resources
Wang Qiye possesses knowledge unavailable to many established Soul Masters 2 5 6 15.
- Whale rubber: Knows that it strengthens the constitution and helps raise the age of Soul Rings a person can withstand 2.
- Laws: Explains that a Martial Soul’s affinity only creates the possibility of touching laws; actual understanding requires exceptional comprehension 5.
- Netherworld potential: Interprets the Lord of the Netherworld as comparable to a king or emperor among gods, while distinguishing potential from the likelihood of realizing it 6.
- Karmic fire: Describes it as the underlying logic of the world’s law of destruction rather than merely a visible flame 15.
