As the dean of Shrek Academy, Four-Eyed Cat Owl Flender felt rather helpless. After suffering years of exclusion at the hands of Spirit Hall, Shrek Academy was now in as miserable a state as could be.
The distinguished dean of an intermediate Soul Master Academy actually had to come out and do business. Looking at this old, shabby little shop, perhaps not having to set up a street stall was the last scrap of dignity Four-Eyed Cat Owl Flender had left.
This was somewhat different from when Tang San had bought the hair crystal. Tang San had shown his intentions far too clearly back then, which was why Flender had fleeced him, but Lu Qian was different.
He now held the initiative firmly in his own hands. Twenty Gold Soul Coins for three items that were not worth even five Gold Soul Coins combined-as long as Flender was not an idiot, he would sell!
Still, Flender pretended to think it over before finally saying with a frown:
"Of the items you picked, this weapon is rather expensive, so you'll have to add at least another twenty Gold Soul Coins."
Add your sister!
Lu Qian could not help cursing inwardly.
But Lu Qian also had to admit that Flender truly had thick skin. He could tell barefaced lies without so much as a change in color!
Lu Qian simply stopped talking and stared at Flender.
At first, Flender could meet Lu Qian's gaze quite calmly, until Lu Qian began putting away the Gold Soul Coins in front of him, one after another.
The first, the second... the fifth!
Flender finally lost his composure and practically snatched back all the Gold Soul Coins Lu Qian had taken away, placing them in front of himself.
He laughed heartily and said:
"Hahahaha! Meeting is a matter of fate. Today, I'll consider this making a friend of you!"
Then he tossed those three pieces of junk in front of Lu Qian.
Yet Lu Qian likewise smiled as he shook his head at Flender and said quietly:
"That's not enough."
"Not enough? It is, it is! These are the three!"
"I don't think it's enough. Unless you throw that in, then I think it'll do."
Lu Qian pointed to a purple stone beside the hair crystal. He did not know what it was either.
"That?"
Flender looked surprised at first, then slowly regained his earlier composure.
In his eyes, the real reason Lu Qian wanted to buy these three pieces of junk was actually that purple stone.
Little fellow, you're still too green!
Watching Flender's expression grow increasingly sleazy, Lu Qian smiled too.
"If you want that included, you'll need to add another three hundred Gold Soul Coins."
Flender spoke with great confidence.
"Then I don't want it."
Lu Qian answered very decisively.
"What?"
Flender was stunned. Why was this little fellow not playing by the usual script?
"You really don't want it?"
Flender asked tentatively.
"Of course. Give me my money back. I don't want any of it."
Lu Qian held out a hand to Flender, a trace of anger showing on his face, whether intentionally or not.
Seeing Lu Qian like this, Flender formed a rough assessment. This brat was probably retreating in order to advance.
But to be safe, Flender decided to pocket these twenty Gold Soul Coins first.
"How about I throw in something else for you? As for this one, we can discuss it in a moment. Separate matters should be handled separately."
Flender spoke with complete confidence.
"Something else?"
Lu Qian pretended to be very displeased as he swept his gaze around Flender's shop, before his eyes settled on the purple stone again.
"Hehe, anything except that."
Flender said with a smile.
And he really did have grounds for that confidence. After all, among this whole roomful of merchandise, barely anything was worth more than a single Gold Soul Coin!
"All right, then. I hope you keep your word."
Lu Qian pretended to agree very reluctantly.
"Very good. Which one?"
Lu Qian glanced around casually, pointed at the hair crystal, and said quietly:
"That one, then."
"This one? Did you notice something special about it?"
Ever cautious, Flender still asked.
"It's big."
Lu Qian answered irritably.
"Hahaha! It certainly is big! Here!"
As he spoke, Flender handed the hair crystal to Lu Qian. Lu Qian did not take it, instead saying directly to Flender:
"Just pack them together."
"All right."
After Flender packed the three broken-down weapons together with the hair crystal and handed them to Lu Qian, Lu Qian took the package. Then Flender pointed at that purple stone again.
"Well? How many Gold Soul Coins are you willing to offer?"
Flender asked expectantly.
"Ah, since you've figured it out, I won't talk in riddles. Two hundred thousand Gold Soul Coins!"
Lu Qian had nearly steeled himself and said two million, but then felt that would sound too fake and Flender might catch on.
"T-two hundred thousand?"
Hearing the figure of two hundred thousand made Flender stammer.
Had he really failed to recognize its value?
What lousy stone could be worth two hundred thousand?
"Not selling? Forget it, then."
"Sold! Sold, sold, sold!"
Flender hurriedly answered loudly.
"It's settled! Wait here while I get the money!"
Lu Qian pretended to look anxious, even his breathing beginning to grow heavy.
When had Flender ever encountered an actor who could put on such a convincing performance? He immediately nodded in agreement:
"Yes, yes, yes! I'll wait right here!"
"Wait till you drop!"
"Wait till I drop!"
Flender nodded emphatically at Lu Qian again. This time, it was his turn to breathe heavily. After all, that was a full two hundred thousand Gold Soul Coins!
With those two hundred thousand Gold Soul Coins, at least another half year of expenses for his Shrek Academy would be covered.
Yet Lu Qian, who was already far from the shop by now, could not help laughing aloud. To think he had actually managed to make a fool of Four-Eyed Cat Owl Flender, a man famous for being an unscrupulous merchant.
He opened the package and tossed the three pieces of junk inside straight aside. As for the hair crystal, Lu Qian actually just tossed it into his Storage Soul Tool.
There was no helping it. Although the Sign-In Coins exchange shop offered something called the Hundred Explanations of Concealed Weapons, Lu Qian had absolutely no desire to take that path.
Lu Qian's thinking was simple: since the Douluo Continent was a continent centered on Martial Souls, all other methods could only serve as support.
For Lu Qian to study concealed weapons with his current strength would simply be abandoning the root to chase the branches.
As for what to do with this hair crystal, Lu Qian decided it might be better to give it to Tang San at a suitable moment.
For instance, after Tang San lost to Zhao Wuji two days later, Lu Qian could give him the hair crystal.
By then, Tang San would probably sigh over how fate toyed with people.
"If Tang San loses to Zhao Wuji, wouldn't that mean he can't enter Shrek Academy?"
Lu Qian scratched his head.
Yet just as he was puzzling over whether Tang San would ultimately take a roundabout route into the academy through Yu Xiaogang's handwritten letter, or force his way in through his father Tang Hao's Clear Sky Hammer-
Lu Qian suddenly slapped his forehead.
"Damn it! How did I forget I'm a new student too!"
"If that's the case, I might end up doing the showing off that originally belonged to Tang San. Ah, I'll have to show off again."
