History

Service under Qian Xunji

Yue Guan and Gui Mei enter Spirit Hall’s elder ranks together. Although they lack seniority, their ability to perform a Martial Soul Fusion Skill gives them considerable standing. Both seek assignments and contributions that will secure Qian Xunji’s backing 17 34.

Their duties bring them into conflict with Bibi Dong. When they insist on accompanying her on a journey, she regards their protection as surveillance and drives them away with her First Soul Skill, Half Moon. Qian Xunji subsequently orders Yue Guan to monitor her two disciples and investigate Xu Feng’s disappearance 17 34.

While watching the children, Yue Guan witnesses Hu Liena release soul power outside her body before awakening her martial soul. He recognizes its implications for creating soul skills and leaves to report the discovery to the Pope 35.

Failed Abduction and Change of Allegiance

Acting on Qian Xunji’s orders, Yue Guan and Gui Mei attempt to abduct Xu Feng without alerting Bibi Dong. Yue Guan waits until she has left, then charges toward Xu Feng. Within twenty meters, the Heaven and Earth Shield strips him of access to his soul power and reduces his physical capabilities to roughly one-tenth those of an ordinary person. Gui Mei is likewise suppressed when he enters in disguise 39 40.

Xu Feng lets Hu Liena attack the immobilized elders, then releases their suppression shortly before Bibi Dong returns. Yue Guan initially dismisses Bibi Dong’s display of power as a bluff, but abandons his resistance when she brings her Rakshasa Divine Power to bear. Both elders kneel and beg for mercy 40 41.

Qian Daoliu intervenes before Bibi Dong can kill them. She ultimately spares their lives but leaves them severely injured. Fearing another attack, the pair offer to serve her; she tests their sincerity by ordering them to find Xie Yue and Yan 42.

Bibi Dong also gives each elder an immortal-grade spirit fruit to stabilize his newly attained strength. Comparing her generosity with Qian Xunji’s abuse, Yue Guan resolves to follow her sincerely rather than merely submit out of fear 42.

Duties under Bibi Dong

After half a year in Bibi Dong’s service, Yue Guan proposes capturing Yu Xiaogang to obtain the Golden Iron Triangle’s experience with three-person Martial Soul Fusion Skills. He hopes this will benefit Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan. Bibi Dong instead first sends him and Gui Mei to publicize Yu Xiaogang’s plagiarism, lending them her token so they can verify the evidence in Spirit Hall’s restricted library 43 44.

During the subsequent pursuit of Yu Xiaogang, Yue Guan serves as an escort, observer, and attendant. His assignments range from preventing other factions from capturing the targets to helping Xu Feng gather ingredients for Bibi Dong’s meals. He and Gui Mei also struggle to repair the flying chariot that Bibi Dong secretly damages to prolong the journey 52 55 58.

He later helps arrange Bibi Dong and Xu Feng’s stay in a hotel’s supposedly last available suite, rewarding the proprietor for cooperating and guarding the door with Gui Mei 68.

Xu Feng’s Departure and Yue Guan’s Abnormal Behavior

When Xu Feng leaves the Saintess Palace, Yue Guan urges Bibi Dong to let him and Gui Mei provide covert protection. She refuses. He continues warning her about the danger, particularly after learning that Xu Feng’s companion is a soul beast facing her three-hundred-thousand-year tribulation and that Qian Xunji is pursuing them 106 107 108.

Xu Feng eventually contacts Yue Guan through a Mechanical Bird and asks Bibi Dong not to interfere. Despite accepting a hundred-thousand-year soul bone from Xu Feng, Yue Guan reveals his location and brings Bibi Dong to him. He returns the bone when confronted, explaining that he could not stand by while Xu Feng was in danger 109.

During these events, pale cyan or green light repeatedly flickers in Yue Guan’s eyes. He encourages Bibi Dong to suspect that Xu Feng’s rejection is an act. Later, at the site of a massive explosion, the light becomes brighter and his manner changes completely: he calmly declares Xu Feng dead and urges Bibi Dong to confront her deepest fears 109 110 111.

This unfamiliar demeanor disappears afterward. Yue Guan returns to his usual fearfulness and claims not to understand why he spoke that way. The passages suggest outside control but do not identify its source 111 112.

Undead Corps Training

Xu Feng later assigns Yue Guan and Gui Mei to help the Undead Corps master its Combined Battle Technique. Yue Guan initially trusts that their Titled Douluo strength will overwhelm the lower-ranked trainees 147.

Liu Erlong separately challenges him over a slap and insult he delivered a year earlier. Recognizing a power reminiscent of Bibi Dong’s divine inheritance, Yue Guan privately begs Xu Feng for help. He nevertheless accepts the duel and suffers a severe beating 147 148 150.

Over the following week, Yue Guan, Gui Mei, and Liu Erlong rotate through day-and-night sparring sessions. Yue Guan eventually reaches a stalemate against Salas supported by two Soul Douluos: their combined strength counters his attacks, while his greater agility makes him difficult to hit 151.

The practice escalates until Yue Guan and Gui Mei unleash their Two Extremes Stillness Domain. Liu Erlong stops the confrontation before the training ground is destroyed and makes the participants kneel and apologize 152.

Personality

Yue Guan is deferential toward powerful superiors and acutely concerned with survival. He readily kneels before Qian Xunji’s threats and Bibi Dong’s divine pressure, but initially underestimates Bibi Dong when he believes her cultivation alone determines her strength 38 41.

His loyalty becomes more genuine when it is rewarded. Bibi Dong’s spirit fruit earns both his gratitude and a determination to prove useful. Later, he recognizes that her rejection of Xu Feng is spoken in anger and repeatedly urges her not to make a decision she will regret 42 43 106 108.

He is proud of his Titled Douluo status and resents Xu Feng calling him “Little Guan.” This pride also leads him to underestimate the Undead Corps once he sees its members’ individual ranks, despite initially finding their auras unsettling 50 147.

Yue Guan is also a clean freak. When Xie Yue and Yan fight using bodily waste, he restrains them with soul-power pressure but refuses to approach because of the smell 43.
