Chapters 553–577 Vol. 6 Read

Ch. 553Karma was a straight line leading into the depths of the snow sea

Jing Jiu followed the treasure ship’s heat trail north across the Ice Storm Sea, while Zhuo Rusui, Zhao Layue, and Gu Qing advanced their cultivation together before he sent them back to Green Mountain. He and Big One continued toward Yin San, whose preparations suggested he was attempting Feathering, and Big One warned he could hold Profound Yin Child off for only seven breaths.

  • Jing Jiu gathered the group on an ice floe and absorbed the Heavenly Thunder in his body while Zhuo Rusui, Zhao Layue, Gu Qing, and Big One cultivated alongside him.
  • Zhuo Rusui and Zhao Layue broke through to the Wandering the Wilds Upper Realm, while Gu Qing chose to delay his own breakthrough.
  • Jing Jiu followed the treasure ship’s lingering heat trail north and ordered the others to return to Green Mountain, taking only Big One with him.
  • Zhuo Rusui questioned why Jing Jiu had brought them along and then left them behind, while Zhao Layue remained quiet and Gu Qing showed no concern about the future of Green Mountain.
  • Jing Jiu explained to Big One that Yin San’s preparations pointed toward an attempt at Feathering and that he intended to face him while both Yin San and Yin Phoenix were weakened.
  • Big One said he could hold Profound Yin Child off for at most seven breaths as Jing Jiu continued north along the ship’s clear trail through the ice.

Ch. 554If Life Were Only as It Was at First Meeting

Jing Jiu traveled to the frozen northern sea to confront Yin San before his planned Feathering, while Yin San waited aboard a treasure ship for their reunion. As they finally faced each other, the Snow Nation Queen’s immense Divine Sense arrived, leaving the confrontation interrupted by her presence.

  • Yin San told the Profound Yin Ancestor that he was waiting for Jing Jiu because he needed to ask him a question before attempting Feathering.
  • Jing Jiu deduced that Yin San had deliberately left clues to draw him north, and he discovered and erased a faint shadow left in his mind by Heaven Near Person.
  • Yin San came on deck, thanked the Profound Yin Ancestor for his loyalty, and told the Yin Phoenix to return to Green Mountain if he died.
  • Jing Jiu and Yin San saw each other across the frozen sea as the wind and snow abruptly stopped and the ice began to crack.
  • The Snow Nation Queen’s distant Divine Sense swept across the frozen sea, prompting Big One to suggest that Jing Jiu and Yin San might need to join forces against her.

Ch. 555Who Could Bear to Watch Feathering, Who Would Move the Iceberg?

Jing Jiu fled after the Snow Nation Queen’s Divine Sense recognized Snow Ji’s scent, while Yin San began a painful Feathering ritual under her gaze. Jing Jiu returned to Zhao Layue without killing True Person Taiping and admitted that he was very sad.

  • The Snow Nation Queen’s Divine Sense examined the Treasure Ship, and Jing Jiu sensed that she had detected Snow Ji’s scent and escaped with the Netherworld Immortal Sword.
  • Yin San chose to let the Snow Nation Queen witness his Feathering, and the Profound Yin Ancestor and Yin Phoenix helped prepare the ritual.
  • Yin San played the Bone Flute as the lotus’s aura stripped away his rotting flesh, and he closed his eyes after the Profound Yin Ancestor wondered whether he wanted to die.
  • Zhao Layue waited on an ice floe, and Jing Jiu arrived and told her he had seen True Person Taiping from afar but had not killed him.
  • Zhao Layue reminded Jing Jiu that he could leave whenever he wished, and Jing Jiu confessed that he felt very sad.
  • Big One reached the floe, sensed their subdued mood, and lay down in Jing Jiu’s arms.

Ch. 556Those destined for loneliness are lonely everywhere

Jing Jiu set aside his sorrow and searched for clues to why Taiping had tried to stop his ascension, tracing a lead to a vanished Sword Immortal in the Western Sea. He uncovered an old account of a madman whose warnings and actions suggested a lonely immortal had once descended into the mortal world.

  • Jing Jiu told Zhao Layue that his loneliness had ended, then focused on finding the reason Taiping had opposed his ascension.
  • Jing Jiu visited the Western Sea and promised Cheng Youtian that Shiyue Peak would relieve Jade Lake Peak in four years.
  • Jing Jiu searched Shaoming Island and found Nan Qu's cryptic note in a Record of Sword Immortals, then ordered old books from Haizhou City.
  • Jing Jiu found records of a middle-aged madman who warned people not to go outside, leaped into the sky, and was followed by the destruction of several cultivation groups.
  • Big One recalled the Western Sea's past tragedies, and Jing Jiu connected the madman to the previous Sword Immortal and his writings about loneliness.

Ch. 557Someone Like Me

Jing Jiu reflected on the dangers beyond ascension, then ordered a residence built in Yunji Town and announced he would enter seclusion until the Sect Master's investiture in four years. Nan Wang returned from the Water-Moon Convent injured after claiming she could not lose.

  • Jing Jiu told Zhao Layue that the world beyond ascension was dangerous and explained why he still intended to explore it.
  • At a Yunji Town hotpot restaurant, Jing Jiu sensed that True Person Taiping might have died and concluded that the man had not always intended to kill him.
  • Jing Jiu asked the Gu Household to build a residence in Yunji Town for four years later, gave Universe Edge to Gu Qing, and announced the Sect Master's investiture ceremony would be held then.
  • Jing Jiu entered seclusion and refused to see anyone, while Zhao Layue asked whether pursuing the Great Dao had to be so bitter.
  • Nan Wang returned from the Water-Moon Convent and, after boasting to Big One that she could not lose, suddenly spat out blood.

Ch. 558Seeking a Sword

Nan Wang returned to Green Mountain after fighting the Convent Master and sent Nan Zheng to Water-Moon Convent to investigate Lian Sanyue and Guo Dong. Meanwhile, Ping Yongjia searched Cloud-Traveling Peak for a sword, cultivated beside Yuan Qu’s sword for four years, and began developing a Sword Body before Yuan Qu left him to continue cultivating.

  • Nan Wang said she had fought the Convent Master to a draw, then ordered Nan Zheng to enter Water-Moon Convent and investigate Lian Sanyue and Guo Dong.
  • Ping Yongjia told Gu Qing he wanted to visit Cloud-Traveling Peak to find a sword, and Gu Qing supported his decision.
  • Ping Yongjia encountered several exceptional flying swords but rejected them, then found the sword Jing Jiu had chosen for Yuan Qu and sat beside it to cultivate.
  • Four years later, Yuan Qu found Ping Yongjia surrounded by Cloud-Traveling Peak’s sword intent and realized his junior brother was nearing great completion of the Sword Body.
  • Yuan Qu took his sword and left Ping Yongjia undisturbed, knowing he would miss the Green Mountain Sect Master’s inauguration ceremony.

Ch. 559In times of peace, no idle moves

Tong Yan returned from the Netherworld and was brought to Green Mountain, where he entered the Sword Prison and then Hidden Peak with A Piao. A Piao attacked him and revealed that his teacher was True Person Taiping.

  • Yuan Qu walked down Cloud-Traveling Peak after nurturing his unnamed sword for five years, and Green Mountain disciples congratulated him.
  • Tong Yan arrived at the Heavenly Access Well with a case, and Jing Jiu’s Green-Curtain Sedan carried him to a residence near Green Mountain.
  • Tong Yan asked to visit the Sword Prison, and Yuan Qijing allowed him to descend with the case despite disliking the visit.
  • Tong Yan carried the case through the Sword Prison to Hidden Peak, where he found a red gem outside a cave indicating someone was cultivating inside.
  • Tong Yan opened the case, and A Piao emerged and struck him, saying he had to act despite Tong Yan being like a teacher to him.
  • A Piao played a bamboo flute to open the cave door and revealed that True Person Taiping had been his teacher.

Ch. 560Swords sang, flowers bloomed, a little tune reached heaven

A Piao carried out True Person Taiping’s plans in Hidden Peak, helping Fang Jingtian break through to the Heaven-Connecting Realm as Jing Jiu arrived for his inauguration as Green Mountain Sect Master. Fang Jingtian then reached the Sword Prison and called for his Great-Martial-Uncle to leave.

  • A Piao visited Fang Jingtian’s secluded cave and planted a bamboo flute, which grew seven plum blossoms.
  • A Piao entered the Sword Prison, greeted Corpse Dog, and waited for Yuan Qijing to depart.
  • Representatives from the cultivation world gathered on Heavenly Light Peak for Jing Jiu’s inauguration, and Jing Jiu arrived amid a ringing sword.
  • The seven plum blossoms bloomed as Fang Jingtian emerged from seclusion, having reached the Heaven-Connecting Realm.
  • Corpse Dog found a dead cultivator in a cave, buried his body, and claimed the flying sword hidden in it.
  • Fang Jingtian entered the Sword Prison, stopped at a cell, and told his Great-Martial-Uncle that it was time to go.

Ch. 561I am Jingyang

Jing Jiu took his place as Green Mountain Sect Master, but Fang Jingtian arrived after reaching the Heaven-Connecting Realm and challenged both his right to sit in the chair and his identity. Jing Jiu revealed that he was Jingyang as thunder sounded over Green Mountain.

  • Jing Jiu sat beneath the hut's eaves as Green Mountain Sect Master, and Fang Jingtian arrived in a wheelchair with the newly achieved Heaven-Connecting Realm cultivation.
  • Fang Jingtian challenged Jing Jiu's right to the Sect Master's Seat, while Green Mountain disciples and Nan Wang supported Jing Jiu and cited True Person Liu Ci's last edict.
  • Fang Jingtian questioned Jing Jiu's origins and argued that the second son of the Jing Household in Chaoge City was a false identity; Yuan Qijing implied that the real child had been taken away.
  • Jing Jiu explained that he had chosen the name Jing Jiu by looking at Divine End Peak, then declared, "I am Jingyang," as the rain stopped and thunder struck.

Ch. 562A thunderclap, and then another

Jing Jiu revealed that he was True Person Jingyang, shocking Green Mountain and the gathered cultivators. Fang Jingtian then claimed that Jing Jiu was not Jingyang but a sword, leaving his true identity in question.

  • The thunder and Jing Jiu's confession stunned the witnesses, while Yuan Qijing confirmed that Jing Jiu was Jingyang.
  • Those present recalled Jing Jiu's past feats and bowed to him, while Bai Zao grieved and Zhao Layue wondered why he had revealed himself.
  • Fang Jingtian questioned why Jingyang had remained in the mortal world, and Jing Jiu replied that he had unfinished business.
  • Fang Jingtian accused Jing Jiu of forgetting that he was a sword rather than Jingyang.

Ch. 563The Sword Demon Appears?

Fang Jingtian accused Jing Jiu of being One Sword for All Things reborn as a sword demon, citing his unusual abilities and physical details. Jing Jiu admitted that his body was One Sword for All Things but insisted that he was still Jingyang.

  • Fang Jingtian claimed that One Sword for All Things had taken Jingyang’s soul and memories, become a sword demon, and returned to Green Mountain as Jing Jiu.
  • Fang Jingtian questioned Jing Jiu’s extraordinary cultivation, movement, connection to the Nether Emperor’s escape, and the sword light that killed Nan Qu.
  • Yuan Qijing and others challenged Fang Jingtian’s accusations, while Jing Jiu asked him to explain what evidence he had.
  • Fang Jingtian pointed out that Jing Jiu rarely used sword control and claimed his protruding ears were the sword guard of One Sword for All Things.
  • Jing Jiu acknowledged that his present body was One Sword for All Things, but declared that he was still Jingyang.

Ch. 564One sword, long time no see

At the Green Mountain gathering, Yuan Qijing said Jing Jiu was True Person Jingyang reborn in the One Sword for All Things, but Fang Jingtian produced Granduncle Tailu as a witness who identified Jing Jiu as the Sword Demon. As the summit grew tense, Zhao Layue and Gu Qing separately prepared to kill Tailu before he could condemn Jing Jiu.

  • Yuan Qijing explained that Jingyang had attached his Divine Soul to the One Sword for All Things after being gravely wounded, while Fang Jingtian challenged whether Jing Jiu was instead the sword possessing Jingyang.
  • Fang Jingtian introduced Granduncle Tailu, who had seen Oneness of All Things and called Jing Jiu the Sword Demon; Jing Jiu greeted him as Martial Uncle.
  • Yuan Qijing confronted Fang Jingtian for releasing Tailu from the Sword Prison, but Fang Jingtian defended his actions as necessary to protect Green Mountain from a Sword Demon sect master.
  • Zhao Layue concluded Tailu had to die and began preparing the seventh form of the Nine Deaths Sword Art, despite the danger and Fang Jingtian's presence.
  • Gu Qing decided to break through from the Wandering the Wilds Initial Realm and strike Tailu, while counting on Zhao Layue and Lord White Ghost to help; he moved behind the hut.

Ch. 565One Punch, One Heavenly Access

Zhao Layue and Gu Qing tried to kill True Person Tailu, but his overwhelming sword intent stopped them. Jing Jiu then killed Tailu with a single punch, leaving the assembled cultivators wondering what power he held in his right hand.

  • Zhao Layue prepared a deadly strike while Gu Qing staged a public breakthrough to draw attention and help them attack Tailu.
  • True Person Tailu released powerful sword intent that scattered their auras, interrupted Gu Qing's breakthrough, and stirred the Sea of Clouds into a vast sword shadow.
  • Yuan Qijing's wind and snow gathered around Tailu, but Tailu insisted he would first deal with the sword demon.
  • Jing Jiu confronted Tailu, crossed the barriers of his Thousand-Mile Ice Seal, and struck him with his fist instead of a sword.
  • Jing Jiu's punch shattered Tailu's defenses and turned him to dust, leaving the gathered cultivators to wonder what he had held in his right hand.

Ch. 566A Boy in Blue, a Letter

Jing Jiu killed True Person Tailu with the Nether Emperor’s Seal and defended his actions under the Green Mountain Sect Rules, while the crowd continued to question his identity. The confrontation was interrupted by a mysterious boy in blue, who revealed that he was a letter from True Person Taiping to Jing Jiu.

  • Jing Jiu killed True Person Tailu and returned to Gu Qing, repairing his injuries so he could continue his breakthrough.
  • Yuan Qu cited Green Mountain Sect Rules that authorized Jing Jiu to keep the Nether Emperor’s Seal and execute Tailu for leaving the Sword Prison.
  • Fang Jingtian and other cultivators challenged Jing Jiu, but he refused to explain who he was or prove his identity.
  • A boy in blue arrived at Heavenly Light Peak, revealed himself as a Netherworld Fiend, and said he was a letter written to Jing Jiu by True Person Taiping.

Ch. 567The letter contained a sword move

At Green Mountain’s grand ceremony, A Piao delivered True Person Taiping’s challenge to Jing Jiu: demonstrate whether he was the demon sword Oneness of All Things. The chapter ended with the Cultivation World watching to see whether Jing Jiu would present the Heaven-Bearing Sword and let A Piao test his sword move.

  • A Piao arrived at Heavenly Light Peak and bowed to Jing Jiu, explaining that he had already entered True Person Taiping’s tutelage.
  • A Piao relayed Taiping’s criticism of Fang Jingtian’s attempt to use True Person Tailu to challenge Jing Jiu’s identity.
  • When the Zen Child asked how Jing Jiu’s identity could be proved, A Piao said he could use the Oneness Form of the Heaven-Bearing Sword Technique.
  • A Piao revealed that the Heaven-Bearing Sword was a scabbard for Green Mountain’s true foremost sword, Oneness of All Things, which might be Jing Jiu himself.
  • A Piao asked Jing Jiu to take out the Heaven-Bearing Sword so he could test the Oneness Form, leaving the assembled cultivators waiting for Jing Jiu’s response.

Ch. 568I am all that my cause and effect point toward

A Piao accused Jing Jiu of being Oneness of All Things, the Sword Demon who killed True Person Jingyang, and challenged his claim to be Jingyang. As the gathered cultivators questioned Jing Jiu’s identity, he answered that he was the sum of what all his karma pointed toward.

  • A Piao offered to teach the unifying form to Yuan Qijing, forcing Jing Jiu to either reveal the Heaven-Bearing Sword Scabbard or invite suspicion.
  • Yuan Qijing arrived and said that even if Jing Jiu was Oneness of All Things, that would not settle the matter, while A Piao accused him of killing and consuming True Person Jingyang.
  • A Piao said True Person Taiping had promised to take him to the Mortal World, and Jing Jiu accepted that this explained A Piao’s choice.
  • A Piao asked whether Jing Jiu might have inherited Jingyang’s memories and forgotten that he was Oneness of All Things, leaving the gathered cultivators uncertain of his identity.
  • Jing Jiu told the Zen Child that he was that toward which all his karma pointed.

Ch. 569Karma meant not sparing you a glance

At Green Mountain’s sect master inauguration, Jing Jiu explained that identity was defined by the bonds of karma, but most cultivators still doubted he was True Person Jingyang and turned against him. As Jing Jiu prepared to leave, Bai Rujing attacked, Big One swallowed his flying sword, and Zhao Layue cut off both his arms.

  • Jing Jiu said that he was the point toward which all his karma pointed, prompting the Green Mountain disciples to reflect on their connections to him.
  • Bai Rujing called Jing Jiu a Sword Demon and urged the cultivators to kill him, while dozens of flying swords rose against him.
  • Green Mountain disciples from several peaks sent their swords to protect Jing Jiu, creating a tense standoff as the elders hesitated.
  • Yuan Qijing lamented that Green Mountain had been brought so low, and Jing Jiu said it was time to leave as Zhao Layue, Gu Qing, and Yuan Qu came to join him.
  • Bai Rujing attacked Jing Jiu, but Big One swallowed his flying sword and Zhao Layue severed both his arms.

Ch. 570I'm Leaving, and I'm Taking It All with Me

Jing Jiu left Heavenly Light Peak with Zhao Layue and the Divine End Peak disciples, but Fang Jingtian tried to trap and kill him. The Zen Child, Yuan Qijing, and several outside powers backed Jing Jiu or declined to oppose him, leaving his identity and claim to the Green Mountain Sect unresolved.

  • Zhao Layue severed Bai Rujing’s arms, and Jing Jiu told Fang Jingtian he would leave Green Mountain without surrendering the Heaven-Bearing Sword, the Nether Emperor’s Seal, or the Sect Master position.
  • Fang Jingtian unleashed accumulated sword intent to seal off the sky and sent As the Years and the disciples’ flying swords against Jing Jiu as he approached the cliff.
  • The Zen Child blocked the attacks with a mirror of light and declared that he believed Jing Jiu was True Person Jingyang; Fang Jingtian insisted Jing Jiu was a demon impersonating him.
  • Yuan Qijing ordered Jing Jiu to recuperate outside Green Mountain without going far, while Fang Jingtian argued the matter concerned the whole Cultivation World.
  • The Great Marsh and Mirror Sect remained neutral, Chen Xueshao expressed trust in Jing Jiu, and Duke He said the Divine Emperor’s decree recognized Jing Jiu as Green Mountain Sect Master.

Ch. 571When the Great Dao prevailed

Green Mountain forced Jing Jiu to leave temporarily, but he departed with Zhao Layue and Yuan Qu without surrendering the Heaven-Bearing Sword or Nether Emperor's Seal. The Zen Child defended Jing Jiu's ideals, while A Piao was imprisoned in the Sword Prison and Zhuo Rusui prepared to leave Green Mountain.

  • The White True Person's presence caused Green Mountain's flying swords to withdraw, and Yuan Qijing ordered Jing Jiu to leave the mountain and recuperate.
  • Gu Qing refused to surrender the Heaven-Bearing Sword or Nether Emperor's Seal, and Zhao Layue called Fang Jingtian and his supporters traitors before leaving with Jing Jiu and Yuan Qu.
  • The Zen Child said Jing Jiu prevailed because he had fellow travelers who shared his ideals, making many observers wonder whether he was True Person Jingyang.
  • Yuan Qijing froze A Piao in ice and ordered him confined in Green Mountain's Sword Prison, while Bu Qiuxiao allowed Liu S sui to go.
  • Guo Nanshan urged Zhuo Rusui to go after Jing Jiu, and Zhuo Rusui agreed because he was used to following him.

Ch. 572Green Mountain divided, a longing unforgotten

Jing Jiu left Green Mountain with Zhao Layue, Yuan Qu, Gu Qing, and Zhuo Rusui, then brought them to a hidden compound near Yunji Town that he had prepared years earlier. As they arrived, Nan Wang appeared at the gate with killing intent.

  • Gu Qing initially stayed behind to watch over Divine End Peak, but Zhuo Rusui persuaded him to leave, and several young disciples asked to follow Jing Jiu.
  • Yuan Qijing reprimanded the young disciples who wanted to leave, while Jing Jiu departed Green Mountain with the Heaven-Bearing Sword, the Nether Emperor's Seal, Zhao Layue, and Yuan Qu.
  • White True Person told Yuan Qijing that the Zhongzhou Sect would try to kill Jing Jiu, and Xiang Wanshu later reported that Senior Sister was missing.
  • Yuan Qijing stored the frozen A Piao beneath Shangde Peak and discussed with Corpse Dog whether Jing Jiu was a person or a sword.
  • Zhuo Rusui caught up with Jing Jiu and the others, and they all left Green Mountain together on their swords.
  • Jing Jiu led the group to a secluded compound near Yunji Town that he had arranged to build four years earlier, where Nan Wang confronted him at the gate.

Ch. 573Mountains and rivers, everything in the universe, and you

Nan Wang confronted Jing Jiu over his past rejection of her and Liu Ci, then left after he told her he liked her. Jing Jiu’s followers gathered at the ruined residence, where Liu S sui reported that he had fought Kunlun Sect members, leaving the group aware that dangers lay ahead.

  • Nan Wang entered Jing Jiu’s courtyard and slapped him, then struck his chest hard enough to destroy the wooden building and leave a deep pit.
  • Nan Wang accused Jing Jiu of preventing her from marrying Liu Ci and lamented that they were both now alone; Jing Jiu said he liked her, but she rejected him and left.
  • Jing Jiu cleared the rubble, while the Gu Household’s Third Master arranged the cleanup and wondered whether anything had gone wrong at the residence.
  • Zhao Layue, Gu Qing, Yuan Qu, and Zhuo Rusui knelt before Jing Jiu; Gu Qing asked whether the sect’s ranks should be rearranged, but Jing Jiu questioned Zhuo Rusui about freeloading instead.
  • Liu S sui arrived with bloodstains on his sleeves and said he had been delayed by a fight with people from the Kunlun Sect.
  • Jing Jiu realized Nan Wang had made the disturbance public to ensure he would have no peace, as the group faced dangers beyond her.

Ch. 574The First Day Away from Green Mountain

On his first day away from Green Mountain, Jing Jiu settled into an estate near Yunji Town as his disciples debated whether he was Jingyang or the Sword Demon and worried about a future conflict with the Zhongzhou Sect. Visitors from across the Cultivation World soon crowded outside the estate, seeking an audience with him.

  • Jing Jiu promised to avenge Liu S sui’s loss to a Kunlun Sect elder and kept the existing hierarchy among his disciples.
  • Zhuo Rusui, Zhao Layue, Gu Qing, Yuan Qu, and Liu S sui discussed Jing Jiu’s identity, his past choices, and the possibility of war with the Zhongzhou Sect.
  • Bai Zao told Zhao Layue she was glad Jing Jiu might not be Jingyang, and Zhao Layue comforted her before she left.
  • Jing Jiu told Zhao Layue that Liu Ci’s choice and Yuan Qijing’s refusal to give him the Green Mountain Grand Array had made him weary, but he accepted leaving Green Mountain.
  • Se Se, Que Niang, and Zhen Tao visited Jing Jiu on behalf of their sects, and he sent them away after acknowledging their elders’ intentions.
  • Cultivators from many sects gathered outside the mist around Jing Jiu’s estate, with some pleading to meet him or become his disciple.

Ch. 575Upstairs at the Restaurant

Cultivators gathered outside Jing Garden in Yunji Town, hoping to meet the figure they believed was True Person Jingyang, while Zhao Layue’s sword Fusi kept them from causing trouble. When Jing Garden opened, Zhou Yunmu and Lu Jin were invited inside, and Lu Jin brought a desperate scholar’s medical records to ask for help; the True Person had no cure, and the scholar left with his hope disappointed.

  • A blood-red thunderbolt carrying Zhao Layue’s sword Fusi killed an arrogant Sky Pillar Sect cultivator who had harassed Yunji Town, restoring peace there.
  • Zhou Yunmu urged Lu Jin to seek an audience in Jing Garden, and the two joined the cultivators waiting outside its mist-covered entrance.
  • When Jing Garden’s gate opened, Yuan Qu summoned the Xuantian Sect’s Zhou Yunmu and Lu Jin and invited them inside.
  • A middle-aged scholar knelt and gave Lu Jin medical records for an ill family member, and Lu Jin took them into Jing Garden with Yuan Qu’s permission.
  • Zhou Yunmu and Lu Jin returned and told the scholar that the True Person had no solution; the scholar accepted the records, bowed in thanks, and left.

Ch. 576Those whose souls were consumed by sorrow

Zhou Yunmu and Lu Jin were attacked on their way home after leaving Jing Garden, but Green Mountain disciples rescued them and killed the evil cultivator. Back at the courtyard, Zhao Layue and the others learned why Cheng Ruqing had sought Jing Jiu’s help, while Jing Jiu remained in a bad mood.

  • After leaving Yunji Town, Zhou Yunmu and Lu Jin survived several groups of cultivators trying to rob them of what they had obtained from Jing Garden.
  • An evil-path expert attacked the pair near an abandoned mountain god temple, demanding to know what Jing Jiu had told them.
  • A Green Mountain disciple’s sword helped hold off the attack, and Guo Nanshan led a Green Mountain Sword Formation that killed the evil-path expert.
  • Guo Nanshan and Gu Han discussed Zhou Yunmu’s Nascent Soul Realm cultivation and Jing Jiu’s supposed seclusion near Yunji Town.
  • Zhuo Rusui reported that Zhou Yunmu and Lu Jin should be safe on their journey and that he had notified Su Ziye.
  • Gu Qing reported that Cheng Ruqing had left One-Thatch Studio, joined East Yi Dao with his mortal wife, and risked its secret method after she became gravely ill.

Ch. 577No More Partings

Jing Jiu told Zhao Layue that he wanted everyone to live longer so they could avoid parting, and she promised to cultivate and stay alive. As the crowds around Jing Garden drove Jing Jiu into a foul mood, Yuan Qijing’s snowfall scattered them, while True Person Tan visited Zen Child seeking a letter to help him approach Jing Jiu.

  • Jing Jiu told Zhao Layue about losing a childhood friend to old age and illness, and urged her to live for thousands of years; Zhao Layue promised she would.
  • Gu Qing and Yuan Qu sent word to address the crowds gathering around Yunji Town, and Yuan Qijing’s supernatural snowfall drove most of the cultivators away from Jing Garden.
  • The crowds’ reverence for Jing Garden deepened resentment among Green Mountain and other sects toward Fruitful Accomplishment Temple and Zen Child.
  • True Person Tan visited Zen Child, asked whether Jing Jiu was True Person Jingyang or the Demon Sword, and heard Zen Child say Jing Jiu had inherited Jingyang’s karma.
  • True Person Tan warned that Jing Jiu could be vulnerable if Yuan Qijing died and asked Zen Child to write a letter to help him gain Jing Jiu’s trust before visiting Yunji Town.
