Before long, they were nearly at the end. Huang Xiao estimated that he had descended more than a dozen zhang underground. It had become very damp here, with considerable water seeping through the passage walls.
At this depth, there was a secret chamber, a small room roughly one zhang in length, width, and height. The chamber was comparatively dry. Huang Xiao detected a formation, but it too was fairly ordinary, merely sealing off certain auras without preventing outsiders from entering or confusing them.
On reflection, that made sense. If someone outside found the mechanism, any formation here would be broken anyway, so for Hu Xi, this formation was most likely meant to keep the place dry and comfortable.
More than a dozen fist-sized Night Pearls were embedded in the chamber walls, their gentle glow illuminating the room.
At the center of the chamber stood a stone platform, with a meditation cushion beside it. This was probably where Hu Xi practiced.
