The Flame Lord's terrifying roar carried a violent power capable of destroying heaven and earth. It halted all the magma surging upward, then sent it hurtling back toward Fire Lake even faster.
In an instant, the Magic Barrier that had been rising with the magma was caught in the reversed flow. Not only could it no longer rise even an inch, it plummeted toward Fire Lake below.
"This is bad!" Masor, the fire Archmage, cried in terror. "The Flame Lord is controlling the falling magma. I've used up too much Mental Power. I simply can't make the barrier fly out!"
Han Shuo, who had been resting with his eyes closed, abruptly opened them and looked at Masor. "Does that mean we're trapped in Fire Lake?"
The kindhearted female knight Sophie was equally helpless in the face of this predicament. She gazed anxiously at the scorching magma sweeping toward them, utterly at a loss.
Suddenly, the fire Archmage Masor gave Han Shuo and Sophie a helpless look. "I'm very sorry. With you two along, I don't think I can escape Fire Lake either. Forgive me!"
A powerful magical fluctuation suddenly came from where Han Shuo and Sophie stood. Just as when Han Shuo had left the barrier earlier, sparks flew with a sizzling hiss, and the section of the barrier enclosing the two of them was cut away from Masor's barrier as though severed by a sharp blade.
Without the support of Masor's Magic Elements, Han Shuo and Sophie were immediately engulfed by the churning magma and fell straight toward Fire Lake.
"Rather than all three of us dying, it's better for me to escape alone. There's nothing else I can do. Please don't blame me!" the fire Archmage Masor murmured coldly as she watched the two vanish into the magma
