Background / History

Earth and reincarnation

Han Shuo originally lives in YZ City. After vocational high school and a second-rate university, he runs small websites and online shops without earning much. Unemployed and largely housebound, he reluctantly prepares to seek conventional work under pressure from his parents 1.

Chu Canglan abducts him because his birth date and hour match the requirements of a technique, taking him to the moon inside a purple Astral Shield. Following the failure of Chu Canglan’s Demon-Seeding Technique, Han Shuo awakens in Brian’s corpse in another world. Brian’s past and Chu Canglan’s demonic cultivation memories remain accessible to him, but Chu Canglan’s own soul is gone 1 2.

Babylon Academy and the Death Cemetery

Brian’s body belongs to a slave and errand boy who has spent six years working in the Necromancy Department of Babylon Academy. Han Shuo conceals his changed behavior behind a reputation for being half-mad and half-witted while cultivating and studying necromancy 6 60.

Danger in the Dark Forest transforms both his abilities and his outlook. After killing Claude, he becomes more conscious of the world’s cruelty; during the Wolf Cavalry invasion, students and teachers begin accepting his commands. Fanny subsequently helps him shed his servant and slave status, and he receives an academy Student Card 52 53 56 61 65.

The Death Cemetery becomes his secret base for cultivation, research, and undead refinement. Its ancient necromantic collection exceeds the academy’s dark-magic library in several respects. He also learns that the cemetery is a powerful mobile castle with two unexplored lower levels 81.

Imperial service and Brettel City

Han Shuo works for the Dark Curtain Organization while strengthening his ties to Phoebe, Emily, and Lawrence. His public defeat of Lio Kane brings widespread recognition, while his recovery of Manufacturing Plans provides the stated justification for Utrede’s award of a count’s title, an estate, and other rewards 175 177 290 291.

As Brettel City’s lord, he reverses its history of abandonment by defending it against bandit attacks. His responsibility for the residents makes him more cautious about military appointments and long-term security. Utrede later makes him a Marquis and asks him to spare the king’s other three sons in exchange for supporting Lawrence’s succession 335 352 389.

Abyss Realm and godhood

Stranded in the Abyss Realm, Han Shuo searches for a route back to the Qio Continent while concealing his otherworldly origin. He finds the realm’s violent hierarchy favorable to his cultivation, develops his death-element knowledge, and prepares a powerful Shura Illusion Soul Formation in Battle Demon Valley 518 519 520 540.

After returning, he dismantles Adair’s religious influence in his territory and encourages his subjects to worship him instead. His deeds against the orcs and the Ice and Snow God Temple attract further believers. He also becomes an honorary Elder of the Calamity Church, gaining authority over its operations in the Lancelot Empire and Brettel City 587 611 635.

Shadow City and the Chaos Lands

On the Continent of the Gods, Han Shuo first seeks Donna’s assistance in Shadow City. He builds Celestial Pivot Pharmacy into the foundation of the Han Family and gains command of the Fifth Divine Guards Office. The family’s rapid growth makes Shadow City’s established families increasingly wary of him 691 754 799.

Refusing to submit to the Chaos Lands’ existing monarchs, he develops Demon-Hidden Valley into a heavily fortified base. When the Han Family is endangered elsewhere, he escorts its members out of the Death Divine Domain before returning alone for revenge. His retaliation eventually claims Wallace, Hofus, Laklison, and Ralph 845 856 903 910.

After advancing further, Han Shuo defeats Tyr and Rogg with his fused Divine Domain. The assembled forces recognize him as the Chaos Lands’ strongest figure, and Xilanke declares that the region has only one monarch. Han Shuo later establishes new rules for Chaos Demon City 987 992.

Final battle

Han Shuo and Han Hao confront the Genesis Mother Goddess, whose imprint briefly turns Han Hao against his father. Memories of their shared past help Han Hao break free. After Olsya gravely wounds the goddess, father and son defeat her and imprison her in the Myriad Demon Cauldron 1028.

Han Shuo spends a hundred years refining away her consciousness in Demon-Hidden Valley. He then returns to his family and allies as the universe’s new ruler, promising to open a passage between universes after reaching the Demon Venerable Realm 1028.

Appearance

• Early body: Brian’s body is initially frail and bears frightening, wormlike scars on an arm 2 23.
• Physical development: Cultivation and adequate food make him taller, stronger, and muscular. By his return from the Dark Forest, he has a well-proportioned build and bronze skin 23 49.
• Mature appearance: His formerly delicate face develops firmer, more sharply defined contours. He eventually stands 1.9 meters tall and is described wearing a practical black warrior’s outfit 89 286.
• Bearing: Usually capable of appearing simplehearted, he projects a sinister, imposing, or swordlike presence when serious 286 487 500.
• Alterable features: Nine Transformations allows him to change his face and body, so his visible appearance is not fixed 601 613.

Personality

Han Shuo begins as a timid, dissatisfied man who imagines acting on his desires but lacks the courage to do so. Reincarnation and demonic cultivation remove many of his former restraints, making him increasingly ambitious, sexually possessive, and willing to pursue strength and status. Phoebe helps sharpen his ambition by arguing that wealth alone cannot protect him from those with political power 1 28 87.

He is deceptive and resourceful, often hiding calculation behind an honest-looking smile. He fabricates injuries to manipulate witnesses and can maintain a convincing performance of innocence under hostile scrutiny. Killing and repeated danger make him colder, although leadership eventually pushes him to consider consequences beyond immediate victory 17 52 53 352 790.

His loyalty is selective but intense. He repays Jack’s early kindness, values the dwarves’ friendship, and risks death by trusting Little Skeleton during the Bloodwater Demon attack. His attachment to Han Hao is described as exceeding his love for any woman 61 80 195 825.

His romantic behavior is a recurring source of harm and conflict. He rapes Emily before their later relationship develops, and subsequently recognizes both the assault and his initial treatment of her as an outlet for lust. Concealing multiple relationships damages his bonds with Phoebe and Fanny, while Emily directly challenges his womanizing 121 395 409 611.

Despite the cultivation art’s dangerous effects on his desires, Han Shuo also displays exceptional endurance and self-discipline. He repeatedly withstands agonizing bodily transformations and later overcomes an abnormal desire through five days of sustained resistance 679.
