Four whole tailed beasts. This meant that conflict between Akatsuki and Uchiha Minamoto would be inevitable.
Either Akatsuki gave up collecting the tailed beasts.
Or they had to defeat Uchiha Minamoto.
Akatsuki, Deva Path Pain, or rather, Nagato behind the scenes, had no third option.
Surely they couldn't reconcile with Uchiha Minamoto?
Just as Deva Path Pain sank into thought.

"Uchiha Minamoto's rate of growth has already far exceeded our previous estimates.
"If we don't take action against him soon, Akatsuki's plan to collect the tailed beasts will never be completed."

Deva Path Pain's [Rinnegan] swept calmly over him, his words as sharp as a blade.
"You're afraid."
Deva Path Pain wasn't asking a question. He was stating a fact.
Obito Uchiha's body abruptly stiffened.
He wanted to deny it, to argue, to say, "How could I possibly be afraid of that bastard Uchiha Minamoto!"
But when the words reached his lips, he couldn't get a single one out.
Yes.
Obito Uchiha was indeed afraid.
As he was now, apart from the [Hashirama Cells] in half his body, a pair of [Mangekyō Sharingan] that weren't Eternal eyes but were better than Eternal eyes, and a complete but weakened version of [Kamui]...
He had virtually no abilities worth mentioning.
Obito Uchiha feared that man would appear before him again and slice his body open with that undetectable Gravity Blade.
He had already died far, far too many times.
He had even used up his spare [Sharingan].
Obito Uchiha truly didn't want to die again.
He hadn't yet created a world with Rin in it. How could he just die at Uchiha Minamoto's hands?
