Rain poured over a village surrounded by woods. A flash of lightning illuminated a pitch-black wooden room. A child jolted awake, his face filled with horror, before a tearing pain shot through his head and fragments of shattered memories crowded into his brain.
"Where am I? This is... Konoha!!!"
Ye Feng was an instructor at a fitness club who practiced his family's martial arts. One of his ancestors was said to have been an immortal cultivator who had left behind half of an unnamed cultivation manual. Supposedly, mastering it to a profound level could even allow one to ascend to immortality. But there was no longer any way to verify that legend, because the spiritual energy on Earth had grown increasingly scarce. By the modern era, almost none remained, making it difficult to condense true qi.
Ye Feng had loved reading novels since childhood and fantasized about one day cultivating, moving mountains and filling seas, and flying on a sword. After hearing the story of his ancestor, he had doggedly memorized the inherited cultivation manual until he knew it by heart, trying to cultivate at every opportunity. He hoped that one day he could produce true qi and become an immortal cultivator capable of moving mountains and filling seas. Unfortunately, over twenty years of practice had brought no progress whatsoever. He had, however, become thoroughly familiar with the accompanying martial techniques. Even without true qi, they had some power, and his body was somewhat stronger than an ordinary person's.
That morning, during the rush hour commute, Ye Feng was about to be late for work and raced toward the club with bread in his mouth.
Cries of alarm and urgent honking rang out. Ye Feng turned to see a car speeding toward a child crouching in the middle of the road to pick up a toy.
The child was not far from Ye Feng. In that moment of danger, he instantly judged that he was fast enough to rush over, scoop up the child, and dodge the car. Without hesitation, he charged forward.
But by an unfortunate coincidence, a woman beside him was carrying a handbag. As she raised her arm to cover her mouth in alarm, the bag swung with it and struck Ye Feng squarely in the face. His head reeled and his speed dropped sharply, but momentum still carried his body forward.
For that instant, Ye Feng could not control his body. By the time he could make out the situation again, he was already in the middle of the road, with the front of the car right before his eyes.
Looking at the child ahead, Ye Feng steeled himself and pushed hard with both feet, sending his already advancing body lunging forward. He leaped into the air and stretched out both hands as he dove, pushing the child away from the car. The next second, he heard an enormous crash, then sank into darkness...
Konoha.
Having jolted awake, Ye Feng looked at his tiny hands and recalled the memories that had suddenly flooded into his mind.
As a homebody, Ye Feng had been a huge fan of the action-packed anime Naruto. He had followed it all the way to its conclusion and still could not get enough of it. Its stirring storylines, spectacular battles, and moving emotional bonds were all things he loved...
"I actually transmigrated? And into the Uchiha Clan? And I'm only four?"
This body's parents had both been Chunin of average aptitude. They had only awakened the One-Tomoe Sharingan, and their abilities had improved very slowly afterward. Clearly, they had essentially exhausted their potential. This time, they had left on a mission and never returned, along with another teammate and the Jonin leading their team. They had been declared killed in action. Unable to withstand the blow upon receiving the news, Uchiha Yefeng had passed out.
Ye Feng suddenly came to a realization. The Uchiha Clan-weren't they later wiped out by Uchiha Itachi? Luckily, it's only the beginning of Konoha Year 41. There are still seventeen years until Konoha Year 58. I still have plenty of time to prepare.
"Aren't transmigrators supposed to have some kind of cheat? Where's mine?"
"System, come out."
" abracadabra... Open sesame..."
"As your master, I command you..."
Ye Feng spent a full four hours trying without discovering any cheat, and disappointment washed over him. But the next second, something seemed to occur to him, and his eyes lit up.
"Could this body have some special talent? The Sharingan!"
At that thought, Ye Feng immediately got up to look in a mirror. Drawing on his memories, he tried the method for awakening the Sharingan. After concentrating hard and scrunching up his face, he still saw no sign that his eyes were awakening.
"My talent isn't the Sharingan. Could it be a talent for cultivation? But I'm just a four-year-old child who hasn't started training yet. Hmm? I should be able to try cultivating chakra!"
Ye Feng immediately began rummaging through chests and cupboards again. He searched the entire house inside and out, even turning over the soil in the courtyard's flower bed, but found only three scrolls: "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique," "Fire Release: Phoenix Flower Jutsu," and "Chakra Cultivation Technique," all fire-nature C-rank ninjutsu. That was hardly surprising, though. The vast majority of the Uchiha Clan had a fire affinity, and Uchiha Yefeng's parents had only been Chunin with little talent and no influential background. Naturally, there were no advanced ninjutsu scrolls in their home.
