On his way home, Ye Feng noticed many ninjas hurrying through the village. Clearly, something major had happened, or they would not have mobilized so many people.
Ye Feng thought back to the major events that might have happened that year in Naruto. The only one was several Jonin from Kumogakure kidnapping Kushina Uzumaki, followed by Minato Namikaze playing the hero, rescuing the damsel, and winning her heart.
Every Huaxia person had a taste for gossip, and Ye Feng was no exception. He wanted to join the fun too. Unfortunately, he had no chakra and could not use the Shadow Clone Technique. Otherwise, he could have slipped out and watched the drama firsthand.
I need to find a way to solve the chakra problem soon. Senjutsu may be stronger, but the Shinobi World has so many ridiculously broken ninjutsu, like the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique, Flying Thunder God, Rasengan, Summoning Technique, and Eight Gates Released Formation. Just thinking about all those badass techniques makes me drool.
He silently resolved to find a way to get his hands on those ninjutsu. The Multiple Shadow Clone Technique would be relatively easy, since more people knew it. He knew the training method for the Rasengan and could work it out himself. Only the future Minato Namikaze knew Flying Thunder God; the current Minato probably had not learned it yet. That left only the Eight Gates Released Formation within his reach right now—Might Duy.
Starting tomorrow, I'll spend time around Might Duy so he gets to know me. Might Duy and Might Guy are both straightforward and simple-minded, so they should be easy to talk around. Besides, training in taijutsu with Might Duy would explain my sudden increase in physical strength. It won't seem so out of place when I fight with taijutsu later.
With a plan in place, Ye Feng began his nightly cultivation. Ever since he had started practicing the Cultivation Technique, he had stopped sleeping. Cultivation nourished his Spiritual Power, leaving him more refreshed without sleep than he would have been after sleeping.
At first light the next morning, Ye Feng stopped cultivating and began preparing breakfast.
He reckoned Might Duy would already be training at this hour. Though Might Duy had no talent for ninjutsu, his perseverance was unquestionably among the best.
After breakfast, Ye Feng ran to the edge of the village and started running around its perimeter. This should be Might Duy's training route, so he was bound to run into him.
Sure enough, before long, he heard someone shouting a slogan behind him:
"I have to run ten laps around the village this morning! This is youth! Youth must not be wasted!"
Two green figures, one large and one small, gradually drew closer to Ye Feng, then overtook him.
This was exactly the opportunity Ye Feng had been waiting for. He quickly chased after them and only began looking them over once he had caught up with the pair.
The tall one was clearly Might Duy. His thick hair was parted four-six, and he had bushy eyebrows and a full beard. He wore a green bodysuit with his Ninja forehead protector tied around his waist. His features were unmistakable.
The smaller one was Might Guy. He had an equally thick bowl cut with straight bangs, bushy eyebrows exactly like Might Duy's, and the same style of bodysuit. One glance was enough to tell they were father and son.
Might Duy spoke first:
"Little fellow, you already know to train at such a young age! You have a good eye indeed, recognizing the importance of a strong body. Let us make our youth blossom together!" Then he gave Ye Feng a thumbs-up, accompanied by teeth that gleamed silver.
Ye Feng was utterly speechless inwardly, but for the Eight Gates Released Formation, this was nothing. As the saying went, flattery would get you everywhere. Putting on an admiring expression, Ye Feng said to Might Duy:
"So you're Senior Might Duy! I've always heard that your taijutsu is incredible. I have no talent for ninjutsu. Could I learn taijutsu from you?"
"All right! Anytime! That's the spirit! That way, your youth won't go to waste." Might Duy was delighted too. Someone actually recognized his taijutsu.
"See that, Guy? As long as you persevere, you'll always find companions on the path of training who acknowledge your ninja way."
"Yes, Father! I'll follow my ninja way to the end and live up to my youth!"
"You truly are my wonderful son."
Then the two hugged each other and burst into tears.
After that, Ye Feng began physical training with Might Duy and his son.
He had never thought Konoha was particularly large before, but once he started distance running with Might Duy and Guy, a single lap consumed nearly half his stamina-and this was a body strengthened by true qi. Yet Might Duy still looked relaxed, barely even sweating, while Might Guy was already panting a little.
By the end of the third lap, Ye Feng was almost out of stamina. Might Duy had only worked up a little sweat and still had plenty to spare. Might Guy was drenched, but he kept running. Might Duy really was a monster. His physical strength was definitely far beyond Ye Feng's current level. Konoha's higher-ups had no eye for talent either, wasting such a treasure in the village doing Genin missions. With a body like that, he definitely had the ability to challenge elite Chunin. If he opened the Eight Gates as well, he would unquestionably be above elite Jonin.
In the future, to protect Might Guy and his companions, he would open the Eighth Gate and cripple Kirigakure's Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. With four killed and three wounded, that record definitely demonstrated Kage Level combat power.
By the fifth lap, Ye Feng felt as though his legs were as heavy as lead, and his pace had become extremely slow. He kept considering giving up, but looking at Might Guy beside him, he gritted his teeth and continued running forward. Might Duy had already left them behind to finish his ten laps for the morning.
Might Guy had clearly reached his limit, but he still persisted. He even collapsed while running, then climbed back up and kept going.
