When Wang Ba woke on the bed, he reached out but found no sign of Bu Chan.
He only noticed the fresh fragrance of plants quietly growing distinct again.
His mood brightened considerably with it.
Wang Ba rose and looked through the window lattice. Sure enough, Bu Chan was preparing food, occasionally waving Boli away when the little creature swooped down to snatch a bite.
"Boli-"
"Boli-"
The milky-yellow little creature landed indignantly on a nearby roof beam, chittering as though cursing.
"Go on, keep cursing. Keep cursing."
Bu Chan shot the bird an exasperated, amused glare.
Boli immediately turned away, seemingly spotting something. After tilting its head to inspect it, the bird gave a slight flutter of its wings and appeared above the little monkey sitting cross-legged in meditation beside the lake.
"Boli-"
The nimble little creature pecked at the silver fur on the monkey's head and tugged hard, only to take fright and fly up when a flash of lightning suddenly sprang out.
"Hm?"
Inside the house, Wang Ba froze at the sight, then a trace of surprise appeared on his face.
His figure flashed, and he appeared beside the little monkey.
Sensing Wang Ba's presence, the little monkey immediately opened his eyes, ending his meditation.
"Hee."
Wang Ba gently stroked the monkey's head, and soon his face lit with the delight of having his expectations confirmed.
"Well, look at you! You really did advance!"
The little monkey was naturally the Wu Ape King. Previously, without using the Demon Ape Transformation, he had only been second-tier high grade. After using it, however, he could hold his own against ordinary Foundation Establishment late-stage or even perfected-stage cultivators.
Now, however, his presence had unmistakably reached second-tier supreme grade.
Wang Ba was not particularly surprised.
The Wu Ape King
