[That is very likely. The Archmages in the palace spent a long time studying it back then, and one thing was certain: the White Lady was definitely not Elune's true form. We speculated back then that the Blue Child and the White Lady were energy devices left behind by the Titans to monitor and channel the chaotic Void Energy around Azeroth, and that they should also be connected to the Well of Eternity at the center of Azeroth.]
[Think about what the Well of Eternity does: it draws natural and arcane energy from the Twisting Nether. Since both act on the chaotic energy of the Twisting Nether, they are very likely auxiliary devices the Titans established for Azeroth.] Ellen voiced her conjecture. Although it was only conjecture, it made sense, and Patrick could not help nodding.
Drawing on his memories of his previous life, he recalled the story of how Kalec, that combat weakling, had become the Aspect of the Blue. Azeroth's Twin Moon System referred to a ritual performed during the special period known as the Embrace of the Two Moons. The Embrace of the Two Moons occurred when the two moons of Azeroth overlapped, producing a special energy.
Through a ritual, Kalecgos had gained the power of a Dragon Aspect, officially replacing the deceased Malygos as a Dragon Aspect. It had also been during a convergence of Azeroth's two moons that the Titans created the Dragon Aspects of the five colors.
This seemed to suggest that the Twin Moon System was the primary cause affecting Azeroth's mana tides. When the two moons overlapped, Azeroth's mana tides reached their peak, the moment every arcane spellcaster dreamed of most.
Patrick remembered that on Earth, tides were a natural phenomenon in coastal regions, referring to the periodic movement of seawater under the tidal forces of celestial bodies, primarily the moon and sun. Conventionally, the vertical rise and fall of the sea surface was called the tide, while the horizontal movement of seawater was called a tidal current.
Could the two moons control the energy of Azeroth through some unknown gravitational force or medium? When the two moons overlapped, that gravitational force would also be at its strongest. At that time, the arcane and natural energy on Azeroth would come under the influence of the two moons' gravity and begin to gather and surge.
"Just now, when I used the conjuration spell Rend Space to project my Spiritual Power into Outer Space, it made me realize that the School of Conjuration's arcane magic primarily manifests as the materialization of Spiritual Power. Calling, creation, summoning, teleportation, and even healing and resurrection are all tangible manifestations of conjuration magic."
Patrick raised an eyebrow. In his previous life, the story had been filled with assertions that arcane magic undermined the world's stability and would also attract the Burning Legion, and that only the Druids of nature were right. Now, conjuration seemed to be just as they had described, and Patrick began to have doubts about the study of arcane magic. After all, casually tearing through the rules of space really could destabilize space and create breaches, giving the demons of the Burning Legion an opening.
"Every school of arcane magic describes similar effects achieved by spells that can be constructed through similar methods. But the School of Conjuration's Rend Space and its calling of Extradimensional Creatures both require enormous amounts of mana, weakening the foundations of physical matter and energy in reality to accomplish their spells. Isn't this a selfish act of stealing from the surrounding material world to strengthen oneself?"
After hearing Patrick's remarks, Ellen paused before saying, [Your understanding is only partial, not comprehensive. The Well of Eternity is the source of energy for all of Azeroth. It supplies this world with arcane and natural energy, maintains the normal operation of Titan Facilities such as the Ley Line Defense System, and accelerates this world's evolution. Whether arcane or natural, both are pure, neutral forms of energy inclined toward order.]
[That is why, even after Sargeras fell and began to be corrupted by fel, he could still draw on the Well of Eternity's energy for his own use. That is why Sargeras was so determined to obtain it. As for stealing from the surrounding material world to strengthen yourself, aren't human activities such as mining and metallurgy the same? In a sense, Arcanists are no different from professions such as Druids and Priests. They merely use a form of energy through their minds. So arcane magic does not steal from the surrounding material world,
but instead brings a new creative force brimming with vitality.] "Although energy has been distinguished by level, it hasn't been distinguished by type. Arcane and natural energy both lean slightly toward order, while fel leans toward chaos. But how did the Highborne, who had always used arcane magic, fall?"
Ellen gave a faint, wry smile and said, [Queen Azshara was deceived by Sargeras back then. She worshipped him as the supreme god of the Titans, and that was why she brought the Burning Legion into Azeroth. By the time Azshara discovered the truth, it was already too late. The study of magic began with the Highborne and was later passed on to humans through Quel'Thalas. More than six thousand years passed after the Quel'dorei founded Quel'Thalas, and even when the Sunwell was corrupted, no demons crossed the Ley Line here to enter Azeroth. But what about humans?]
[For thousands of years, demons have continually entered Azeroth, forcing humans to find a so-called Guardian to protect them in secret. But can a single Guardian really take responsibility for humans stealing arcane energy from the Ley Line? During the War of the Ancients, countless demigods and dragons gave their lives before the Burning Legion could be driven out of Azeroth. Do you think a single Guardian can succeed now?]
Patrick had no answer to that. But one thing had been proven: there was nothing wrong with the elves' research into arcane magic.
The rights and wrongs, and all the twists and turns involved, could no longer be clearly untangled. After a brief rest to recover his mental strength, Patrick intended to continue experimenting with spells from the School of Conjuration. Depleted mana could be quickly replenished through meditation and absorbing the surrounding arcane energy. Moreover, mixing the mana gained through meditation with the Sunwell's arcane energy would not cause immediate addiction.
Thank goodness for the Sunwell. Thank you, Dath'Remar Sunstrider.
In his spare time, Patrick began copying the books he had studied, such as "Runeword," "Alchemy," and "Intermediate Runology." With the immense Spiritual Power Ellen provided, transcribing them was not difficult. It was only a matter of time.
He entered the alchemy workshop. Coming from a family of alchemists, Patrick had inherited the habit of practicing every day. Patrick heated the Mana Potion and Healing Potion, then used arcane magic to dissolve Blindweed and Sungrass, purifying the two herbs. He then mixed the resulting arcane dust into the original Mana Potion and Healing Potion, producing a new potion whose efficacy surpassed ordinary healing and mana potions. The results were good.
Patrick also intended to record it as a new alchemical formula and place it in the library, expanding the Mage Tower's book collection.
