"Has the situation in Coldarra stabilized?" Patrick asked. The Aspect of the Blue's Coldarra and control over the ley lines were absolutely crucial. Nothing could be allowed to go wrong.
"There are no longer any outside enemies in Coldarra. I personally wiped out a mage organization called the Shield of Eternity, destroyed that wicked Dalaran's outpost in Coldarra, and sealed the ley line nodes. Everything is completely secure," Malygos said proudly.
The Aspect of the Blue alone controlled the ley lines. No outsider could interfere unless Malygos himself had already fallen under the Old Gods' control. But Elune had confirmed that Malygos had broken free of Yogg-Saron's control, so Patrick could rest completely easy about this place.
Besides, even if the Lich King came in person, with Malygos's Blue Dragonflight, the garrison here, and six animal gods lending their aid, there was no need to worry about the Lich King forcing his way through Angrathar, the Wrathgate.
Tirion Fordring had chosen the right route for attacking the Scourge. They could only fight their way into Icecrown Glacier before turning their attention to Icecrown Citadel. Even if they assaulted Icecrown Citadel head-on, Patrick certainly would not attack through the Wrathgate. Although the Wrathgate led straight to Icecrown Citadel, all its passages were underground. Aboveground, there were only unbroken mountain ranges. An army could not cross Angrathar to attack Icecrown Citadel overland.
Going underground would be an entirely different matter. The Scourge had spent decades establishing itself here, and the interior was a tangled maze, with countless undead both in plain sight and hidden away. If they used the terrain to launch ambushes, the damage they could inflict was easy to imagine. Moreover, underground there was no daylight, and poisonous plague filled the air. The living could not pass through at all.
