The space at the heart of Skywall was the air elementals' Royal City. Its massive stone walls, built from white rock and supported by permanent Anti-Gravity Magic, floated in the air in formations of stone pillars. Some towers even spewed clouds. These buildings, reminiscent of Arabian architecture from his previous life, formed the magnificent Throne of the Four Winds.
Lightning and fierce winds constantly swept back and forth between these stone pillars, making normal flight impossible for ordinary people. With other forms of energy scarce here as well, ordinary mages, shamans, and druids would also find their strength greatly diminished.
Traveling through air elemental territory, or crossing this realm of elementals, would also be an extremely dangerous journey. Air elemental creatures not only hid in thunderclouds; a considerable number roamed everywhere, appearing at unpredictable times and places, making them impossible to guard against.
Skywall was just such a world, filled with whirlwinds, lightning, rising air currents, and churning clouds. Travelers attempting to cross it had to face its two most terrifying potential dangers: hurricanes and thunderstorms.
