After recommending Samui to the director, Anyo gave her one of the important roles. The director looked at Samui's cool, striking bearing and nodded his agreement. Just like that, before Samui had even figured out what was happening, the director led her away.
Returning to the back hall, Anyo said solemnly to Mikoto, "There's someone I want to formally introduce to you."
Mikoto looked startled, then understood something and nodded. "All right. I'd also like to meet whoever deserves so much attention from you."
"Haku, come out," Anyo called toward a patch of shadow.
Haku stepped out gracefully in an aqua-blue dress, a faint blush on her face. Her flawless face was lowered slightly, making her seem all the more pure. She knew very well that the woman before her was practically one of only two family members Anyo had in this world, and she was clearly meeting his family. How could a situation like this not make Haku's heart race?
"How beautiful." Mikoto could not help exclaiming. She stepped forward, took Haku's hand, and asked, "You two are together, aren't you?"
Haku nodded lightly. "Yes."
"I never knew Anyo had such a beautiful woman by his side. He's fortunate. Your name is Haku-and you live up to it. You're the purest person I've ever met." Mikoto's eyes were full of appreciation. Looking into Haku's eyes, she could see that her nature must be as gentle as water.
"Thank you." Haku had not expected Mikoto to accept her so quickly, and she felt rather overwhelmed by the warm reception.
