Power Progression

Lin’s Restoration Level System reproduces Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s abilities. Its percentage—also called fidelity or Restoration Rate—increases through combat, understanding Yoriichi’s life, and acting in accordance with his character 1 18 25.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
10% — Initial fidelity 1 Acquires basic proficiency in Yoriichi’s abilities. His costume becomes real, and his wooden sword becomes a functional replica with partial Bright Red Nichirin Sword effects.
17% Restoration Rate 4 Gains seven percentage points after striking Muzan twice during the Kamado household encounter.
20% Restoration Rate 8 Gains three percentage points after killing an ordinary demon with Sun Breathing’s Eleventh Form.
30% Restoration Rate 18 Reached after killing Lower Rank Three Byōyō and Lower Rank Six Kamanué.
32% Restoration Rate 18 Talking with Tamayo about Yoriichi’s past grants two additional percentage points, revealing that understanding his character also advances the system.
38% Restoration Rate 20 Gains six percentage points from killing former Lower Rank Six Kyogai and two ordinary demons, following his previously recorded 32%.
42% Restoration Rate 21 Clears weeds from Yoriichi’s grave while reflecting on his life.
45% fidelity 22 Reached after addressing Kokushibo as Yoriichi’s elder brother and calling him pitiful.
50% Restoration Rate 25 His decision to pass Yoriichi’s techniques on to the Corps raises his rate.
51% Restoration Rate 26 Gains another percentage point after using Sun Breathing to dry his clothes.
64% Restoration Rate 45 Obtaining Yoriichi’s genuine Nichirin Sword also grants the complete bright red blade effect. Lin reports a qualitative improvement after passing 60%.
76% Restoration Rate 55 Killing Lower Rank Four provides three percentage points; a subsequent realization provides another one.
80% Restoration Rate — Plateau 80 His rate stops increasing after Doma’s death. At this level, he can kill Upper Rank demons with simple slashes rather than fixed sword forms.
88% Restoration Rate 92 Gains three percentage points from the Rengoku ancestor’s memories, especially Yoriichi’s instruction in Breathing Styles.
90% Restoration Rate — “Completed” 107 Reached after Yoriichi’s final message of thanks. Lin understands that faithfully recreating someone does not require becoming that person.

Background / History

Transmigration and the Kamado Family

Lin was cosplaying Yoriichi Tsugikuni at a convention when he suddenly appeared inside the Kamado home. His dyed hair, forehead makeup, and wooden prop sword had become real physical features and equipment. Kie Kamado initially regarded him as a dangerous intruder 1.

His arrival coincided with Muzan Kibutsuji’s attack on the family. Although Lin had only 10% fidelity, Muzan mistook him for Yoriichi. Lin exploited that fear by claiming to have returned from hell, displaying Yoriichi’s signature abilities, and striking an old wound visible through the Transparent World 2.

The Kamado family survived. Lin also alerted the Kakushi that another family member was still down the mountain, ensuring that Tanjiro would be located. Although Lin considered fleeing Japan, he instead chose to pursue Muzan’s destruction 4. His intervention left Nezuko human and spared Tanjiro the family tragedy that Lin remembered from the original story 27.

Alliance with the Demon Slayer Corps

Giyu Tomioka escorted Lin to Headquarters, where the Hashira questioned his strength and unusual identity. Kagaya Ubuyashiki recognized his resemblance to Yoriichi’s surviving portrait but declined to demand an explanation. Instead, he offered assistance in ending Muzan within their generation 9 10 11.

Lin’s first urgent request was to locate Yoriichi’s grave. Kagaya directed him to Tamayo in Asakusa, with Kyojuro Rengoku and Sanemi Shinazugawa accompanying him. After the group killed Byōyō and Kamanué, Tamayo supplied the grave’s location and explained that she had buried Yoriichi herself 12 16 17 18.

At the grave, Lin encountered Kokushibo and deliberately spoke as Yoriichi’s younger-brother identity. During their clash, Lin targeted the centuries-old wound on Kokushibo’s neck; nevertheless, blocking Kokushibo’s attacks left his sword hand numb 21 22 23. He later reported driving Kokushibo back and proposed using Muzan’s resulting caution as an opportunity to strengthen the Corps 25.

Train Investigation and Hashira Training

When Kagaya assigned Lin to investigate suspicious train disappearances, Lin suspected Enmu. Learning that Rengoku had already departed made him rush to the station, fearing an encounter with Akaza 31 32.

Lin detected Enmu’s interference, fought despite being put to sleep, and located the demon’s real body. He subsequently pursued Akaza with Rengoku’s assistance, but Hantengu’s clones and an Infinity Castle passage enabled Akaza’s escape. Before the passage closed, Lin threw a blood-taking knife at him 32 33 34 37.

At the Swordsmith Village, Lin sought the genuine sword hidden inside Yoriichi Type Zero. After obtaining it, he killed the already-wounded Gyokko before the demon could harm Kotetsu 41 45. Following the village’s relocation, Lin began teaching the Hashira to activate bright red blades through weapon clashes and announced further instruction in the Transparent World. He selected Mount Natagumo for a practical lesson 47.

Blue Spider Lily Operation

Lin used his knowledge of Muzan’s obsession with the Blue Spider Lily to propose a false discovery. Kagaya financed the deception through research institutions, newspapers, and public events, using white spider lilies dyed blue as substitutes 62.

The daytime exhibition drew Doma’s human followers into the open. Lin and Shinobu monitored suspicious visitors, and the operation ultimately helped lead the Corps to Doma 63 69. Rather than abandon the lure afterward, Lin and Kagaya continued using it to provoke further movements from Muzan’s subordinates 69 72.

Dreams, Memories, and Victory

After his Restoration Rate stalled at 80%, Lin turned to Tamayo’s medicine to investigate memories of Yoriichi. Kokushibo’s memories exposed Yoriichi’s beliefs, his brother’s transformation into a demon, and details of the Infinity Castle that Lin intended to relay to Yushiro 80 87.

Lin next entered Muichiro Tokito’s dream. Memory impairment prevented the ancestral encounter he wanted, but the treatment helped Muichiro recover forgotten memories. Rengoku’s ancestral memories proved more useful: Lin witnessed Yoriichi teaching Breathing Styles and gained a clearer understanding of abilities he had previously received without knowing their principles 90 91 92.

During the Infinity Castle operation, Lin evaded a transforming trap with an afterimage and concealed himself using the Transparent World and Yushiro’s talisman while carrying location-marking knives 97. After Muzan’s defeat, he joined the Corps’ celebration, received Yoriichi’s final thanks, and reached 90% restoration with the system marked “Completed.” The story ends with the gathering posing for a photograph 107.

Appearance

Lin closely resembles Yoriichi Tsugikuni—enough to alarm Muzan and astonish Tamayo 2 17.

  • Hair: Dark red; becomes genuine hair rather than costume material after transmigration 1.
  • Forehead: A dark red Demon Slayer Mark, initially positioned near the corner of his forehead and capable of spreading during combat 1 7.
  • Clothing: Red haori over an ordinary yellow garment rather than a Corps uniform during his early missions 1 26.
  • Earrings: Sun-patterned hanafuda earrings matching Tanjiro’s 1 26.
  • Build: Tall and slender, according to Tengen Uzui’s first assessment 9.

Personality

Lin combines familiarity with the original Demon Slayer story with an irreverent, teasing manner. He needles Giyu about his social difficulties, takes mischievous interest in Yushiro’s hair loss, and uses his understanding of Mitsuri and Obanai to secure their help protecting Muichiro 6 52 78.

Despite his initial fear of Muzan, Lin is quick to exploit an opponent’s uncertainty. His first confrontation succeeds partly because he recognizes that Muzan cannot know how little of Yoriichi’s power he actually possesses 2. He similarly uses personal knowledge of Kokushibo and Yushiro to influence their reactions 22 53.

Lin’s central conviction is that problems capable of being solved in the present should not be left to another generation. Rather than imitate Yoriichi as a solitary fighter, he recruits allies, improves their abilities, and seeks remedies for the costs of those abilities. He eventually accepts that he can embody Yoriichi’s legacy without surrendering his own identity 55 92 107.

Abilities & Skills

Restoration Level System

The system converts Lin’s portrayal of Yoriichi into usable abilities 1.

  • Combat initially provides substantial increases, but demon kills become less rewarding as his rate rises 4 8 20 52.
  • Reflection, personal understanding, and decisions consistent with Yoriichi’s values also raise fidelity 18 21 25.
  • Reproducing an ability does not automatically teach Lin its underlying principles 92.
  • Completion occurs at 90%, not 100%; Lin remains his own person 92 107.

Sun Breathing

Lin can employ Yoriichi’s swordsmanship from his initial 10% fidelity 1 2.

Documented Form Application
First Form: Dance Beheads a demon through a wall and attacks Enmu while Lin is asleep 20 33.
Second Form: Clear Blue Sky Beheads Byōyō after Lin holds his breath against the demon’s floral distraction 17.
Third Form: Blazing Sun Red Mirror Cuts down Hantengu’s Karaku clone 37.
Fourth Form: Mirage Sun Rainbow Leaves a deceptive afterimage against Aizetsu and later an Infinity Castle trap 37 97.
Seventh Form: Sunflower Thrust Used against Kamanué and Akaza 16 35 37.
Eleventh Form: Dragon Sun Halo · Head Dance Kills an ordinary demon and intercepts Enmu’s real body 8 34.
  • By his later battles, Lin no longer needs to follow fixed forms to defeat Upper Rank demons 80.
  • Sun Breathing also supplies enough heat for him to dry his washed clothes 26.

Transparent World

Lin perceives internal anatomy and bodily movement through the Transparent World 2 13.

  • Identifies Muzan’s organs and old wounds, Kokushibo’s neck scar, and Gyokko’s unhealed internal injuries 2 23 45.
  • Reads breathing, heartbeat, and muscle contractions to anticipate attacks 13.
  • Habitual use makes his presence seem unusually weak or indistinct; Muichiro remembers him as a faceless black silhouette 13 91.
  • Works with Yushiro’s talisman to conceal Lin during the Infinity Castle operation 97.

Demon Slayer Mark

Lin’s costume mark becomes a genuine Demon Slayer Mark after transmigration 1.

  • During activation, his heartbeat accelerates, his temperature rises above 39°C, and the mark becomes painful 2.
  • The mark visibly spreads during combat 7 16.
  • He supplies blood for Tamayo’s research into medicine that eases the Mark’s side effects 52 80.

Bright Red Nichirin Sword

Lin’s initial replica provides only part of a bright red blade’s effects. Obtaining Yoriichi’s genuine sword grants the complete effect 1 45.

  • Produces intense heat and inhibits demon regeneration 2 47.
  • Allows Lin to help activate other swords through violent weapon clashes 47.
  • His training accounts for the difficulty unmarked Hashira face in generating sufficient strength to activate the effect themselves 47.

Dream Exploration

Using Tamayo’s Dream Drug, Lin can enter another person’s dreams and observe memories 87 90 91.

  • Extracts historical knowledge and Infinity Castle details from Kokushibo’s memories 87.
  • Helps Muichiro recover memories while exploring his dream 90 91.
  • Accesses a Rengoku ancestor’s experiences through Kyojuro’s dream 91 92.
  • Movement can be restricted by gaps in the dreamer’s memory; Muichiro’s fragmented dream contains impassable “invisible walls” 90.

Strategy and Instruction

Lin turns knowledge of the original story into plans, while adapting when events diverge from it 32 52 62.

  • Exploits Muzan’s fear of Yoriichi rather than relying on superior strength during their first encounter 2.
  • Organizes Hashira training and plans for allies to destroy fragments if Muzan splits apart to escape 25 47.
  • Uses the fabricated Blue Spider Lily discovery to expose enemy networks 62 63.
  • Collects demon blood and supports Tamayo and Yushiro’s medical and Infinity Castle research 45 52 53 87.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s Sword — Replica: Formerly a wooden cosplay prop; becomes a real blade with partial bright red effects upon transmigration 1.
  • Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s genuine Nichirin Sword: Hidden inside Yoriichi Type Zero; obtaining it completes Lin’s bright red blade effect 41 45.
  • Disaster-Averting Mask: A wooden fox mask made by Sakonji Urokodaki and originally given to Kagaya as a health blessing. Lin asks to keep it 26.
  • Blood-Draw Knives: Supplied through Tamayo and Yushiro for collecting demon blood. Lin also throws one at Akaza before his escape into the Infinity Castle 33 37.
  • Simplified Blood-Draw Knives: Later variants sacrifice blood collection for greatly enhanced location marking 97.
  • Dream Drug: Tamayo’s medicine enables his dream and memory investigations; his last vial shatters during the victory celebration 90 91 107.
  • Yushiro’s talisman: Assists his concealment inside the Infinity Castle 97.
  • Kasugai Crow: Carries his requests to other Hashira, including the protective assignment for Muichiro 78.
