"Enough, enough. Why are you picking a fight with a kid?" The gravel-voiced man clicked his tongue in the doorway. He sounded impatient, but had no real intention of stopping him.
"The boss said you can do whatever you want with this brat once we get the goods. If you break him now, how are you going to explain it to the boss?"
Fourth spat on the floor, turned, and slammed the door behind him.
The sheet-metal door clanged shut. The emergency light overhead swung twice, and the room grew dimmer.
Jiang Xun lay on his side among the rubble. Only after the footsteps receded did he slowly move his shoulder.
That really hurt.
Fourth hadn't held back with that kick. The blow to his lower abdomen had left his stomach churning, and the metallic taste in his mouth grew stronger.
But now wasn't the time to cry out in pain.
That idiot Shen Wangjing would definitely come once he got the message.
That taciturn fool had kept calling his name even after being buried at the bottom of a mine for six hours. He had crossed a mountain to buy him fever medicine without a thought for his own safety. If he saw a photo of Jiang Xun knocked unconscious, never mind a mountain of blades or a sea of fire-he would step straight into the eighteen levels of hell.
He had to get himself out before Shen Wangjing arrived.
Jiang Xun turned his head and glanced toward the warehouse entrance. The gravel-voiced man was sitting by the door, lighting a cigarette, its red tip glowing and fading in the darkness.
The door wasn't fully locked. Those two idiots clearly thought nothing of a high school student trussed up like a parcel.
He began feeling around in the rubble.
