A cocoon-like metal robot floating in the air flew out. Two mechanical tentacles shot out like vipers with a piercing whistle, heading straight for the face of Clark, who was walking in front!
The attack was sudden and fierce. Clark instinctively raised his arms to block, and his Man of Steel body collided hard with the liquid metal, throwing off dazzling sparks. The tremendous impact drove him back two steps.
When its first strike failed, the robot lashed out with its mechanical tentacles again.
"Solomon! Watch out!"
Clark shouted, preparing to fight.
Yet Solomon kept both hands in his pockets, not even lifting his eyelids as he spoke evenly:
"Clark, take off the necklace around your neck and look at that recess beside the hatch."
Clark froze for a moment. While blocking the mechanical tentacles with his hands, he instinctively pulled off the black metal pendant he had worn around his neck for as long as he could remember on Earth.
He quickly scanned the hatch with his Super Vision. Sure enough, there was a diamond-shaped recess on its control panel that matched the pendant perfectly!
Clark unleashed a burst of strength to knock the tentacles back, darted over to the panel, and unhesitatingly inserted the black key bearing the "S" symbol.
"Click."
An exceptionally crisp sound of mechanical parts locking into place echoed through the empty ice cave.
Miraculously, the mechanical tentacles that had already thrust within an inch of Solomon's nose and were about to pierce him seemed to lose all power in that instant.
They swiftly retracted into the robot like receding icy water, fitting seamlessly into its body as though they had never appeared.
