Otherwise, why would he have used such a terrifying move, sacrificing his own life to destroy a demon?
"When did this guy start growing on me?"
Shinobu Kocho thought it over carefully, but she couldn't remember.
Somewhere along the way, she had simply started finding him much easier to like.
Not that she would ever say so. Never.
She bent over the books on her desk again, and silence settled over the room.
Two more days passed before Tetsu no Sosuke finally gave up trying to read the Medical Books himself.
The Medical Books were dense and difficult. He might have managed if he had learned the basics first, but he had no foundation at all. Looking at the lists of medicinal herbs felt like trying to decipher an alien language.
There were plenty of strange technical terms he couldn't make sense of, either.
If he kept this up, his injuries would only take longer to heal, so he gave up.
He did, however, write down every change he had noticed in his body, filling page after page.
He handed the pages to Kanae and Shinobu Kocho. "When you search the Medical Books for a solution, you don't need to focus on things like restoring life force. Look for terms like 'care' and 'recovery' instead. You should find something that way."
"As if we need you to tell us." Shinobu Kocho took the pages. After a long silence, she put them down, turned, and walked out.
Tetsu no Sosuke looked puzzled. "What's wrong with her?"
"She's upset," Kanae said. "Who wouldn't be, seeing you like this?"
Tetsu no Sosuke fell silent, then said, "Honey, could you get me a mirror? I haven't seen whether I'm still handsome."
The Medicine Jar
A mirror was soon placed in Tetsu no Sosuke's hands.
