Kanae was looking over the things he had brought back.
The stones were neatly arranged to one side. In her hands were the prescription Shinobu Kocho had given her and the little bottle.
Her brow was furrowed. He could not tell what she was thinking.
"What's wrong? You look so serious," Tetsu no Sosuke said. "That's the prescription Shinobu and Tamayo came up with. I have to say, I've felt pretty good these past few days since taking it."
Kanae glanced at him. "You haven't had any symptoms?"
"No." Tetsu no Sosuke was puzzled. "Why do you ask? Shinobu was worried too. She stayed with me all night."
"Oh?" Kanae gave him another look and smiled helplessly. "And nothing happened to you that night?"
"I wouldn't know," Tetsu no Sosuke said. "I took the medicine and fell asleep before I knew it. When I woke up, she gave me another medicine, and I slept through another night. But after all that, I did feel a lot better."
He stepped up beside Kanae. "What's wrong? You seem a little off. Is there a problem with the prescription they made?"
Kanae was silent for a moment before she said, "You know Tamayo is a demon. None of us can compare to the years she's spent studying demons. She can even create new ones."
Tetsu no Sosuke nodded. Of course he knew all that.
Kanae waved the prescription in her hand. "Part of this prescription comes from the Demon Transformation Method."

Tetsu no Sosuke opened his mouth, but his shock lasted only a moment. "There's more you haven't told me, isn't there?"
"Aren't you afraid?" Kanae asked.
"I've already taken it. What's the point of being afraid now?" Tetsu no Sosuke said helplessly. "Besides, I trust Shinobu. She wouldn't hurt me."
"At
