Ch. 901Overthinking
Chapter 397: “Overthinking”
- Key events: Tetsu no Sosuke wakes unable to move because his mind has been injured. Yushiro says he underestimated how long it would take Sosuke to resolve what he found inside Zenitsu’s mind. Sosuke reports that the situation was more complicated than expected, but cannot explain it clearly.
- Zenitsu’s inner conflict: Sosuke remains uncertain about the Golden-Eyed figure he encountered: whether it was a shadow or a separate personality, and whether it meant to help Zenitsu face life or take over while Zenitsu withdrew. The apparent resolution may not be lasting; Sosuke wonders whether Zenitsu has grown or been subsumed by the other personality.
- Character developments and interactions: Sosuke has reached the limits of his ability to analyze the encounter and decides not to dwell on it unless it resurfaces. He asks Yushiro when he will recover. Yushiro expects Sosuke’s mental injury to improve with a few days of rest, though his physical condition is more concerning. Sosuke responds wryly to his prematurely white hair.
- Significant themes: The chapter explores identity, recovery, and the uncertainty of psychological change. It also highlights the limits of understanding another person’s inner struggles—and Sosuke’s choice to accept uncertainty rather than keep overthinking.
