Previous Lives and Adoption

Lin Yang has lived three lives. His recovered memories include Blue Star, Sun Breathing, and the final battle in Infinity Castle. In his Demon Slayer life, he was a Hashira and the first among his fellow Hashira to comprehend the Transparent World 1 3.

Su Xi found him in the wilderness and adopted him, giving him her late husband’s surname. Before recovering his memories, he helped with household chores and lived with her in Red Maple Village 1.

Nuoding Academy

At Nuoding Academy, Lin Yang divided his time between classes, library research, physical conditioning, sword practice, and nighttime cultivation. He researched Soul Beasts extensively rather than choosing his first ring without preparation 5.

Yu Xiaogang interpreted his unexpectedly rapid cultivation as evidence of a harmful Martial Soul mutation. Lin Yang rejected his recommendation to hunt a poison-type Soul Beast, believing that Yu Xiaogang wanted an experimental subject for his theories 6.

Their disagreement developed into a feud with Tang San. Lin Yang defeated Tang San without using his Martial Soul, then caught a Sleeve Arrow fired at his back after the match. Yu Xiaogang defended Tang San, while the academy dean intervened before the confrontation escalated further 18 19.

Blue Silver Emperor and Demon God Body

Using ravens to investigate the area around Holy Soul Village, Lin Yang located the cave containing the Blue Silver Emperor and her hundred-thousand-year Soul Bone. He took the bone to obtain enough vitality to address Demon Blood’s vulnerability to sunlight 17 22.

He deliberately exposed his demonized body to sunlight while repeatedly activating the bone’s healing skill. The destruction-and-regeneration cycle transformed Demon Blood into Demon God Body, making his body itself his second Martial Soul 23.

He subsequently strengthened the weakened Blue Silver Emperor with his blood. She chose to accompany him and merged into his body. When she later recovered intelligence and inherited Ah Yin’s memories, his blood and will had already helped create a distinct personality loyal to him; he renamed her Lan Qin 24 90 91.

Medicine and the Butterfly Mansion

In Heaven Dou City, neighbors began treating Lin Yang as a physician despite his initial insistence that they seek a proper doctor. Unable to ignore dying patients, he applied his basic medical knowledge, Transparent World, and developing research to treatment 54 55.

Saving A Hai from lung parasites brought him a steady stream of patients through Keynes’s recommendations. Clinical work improved his medical skills, while herb merchants began seeking his judgment on their stock 55.

His potion research connected him with Dugu Bo and the Begonia Ye family. Treating the Dugu family’s poison problems helped him gain access to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, while cooperation with Ye Xuanyin expanded the Butterfly Mansion’s potion business 65 70 84 85.

Heaven Dou and Spirit Hall

Qin Ming brought Lin Yang to Heaven Dou Royal Academy, where Meng Shenji, Bai Baoshan, and Zhi Lin competed to accept him as a disciple. Dugu Bo then arrived with an offer of his own 61.

Lin Yang joined the academy’s reserve team and was later assigned to Heaven Dou Team One by imperial order. He challenged all seven members to establish his authority, defeating opponents barehanded while using the Transparent World to identify openings 75 107 108.

Qian Renxue repeatedly tried to recruit him into Spirit Hall. He refused because he valued his freedom and did not want to incur obligations. Their relationship nevertheless remained competitive: she later joined Spirit Hall’s tournament team specifically to face him 131 185 190.

Conflict with the Tang Family

After Tang San challenged him again at Shrek Academy, Lin Yang severely injured him in a single move. Tang Hao subsequently attacked, prompting Lin Yang to reveal his second Martial Soul and fight with his regeneration, sword techniques, and spatial movement 143 145 184.

Lin Yang ultimately killed Tang Hao. When distributing the recovered Soul Bones, he kept only those he considered useful rather than treating a larger collection of skills as inherently superior 149.

Sun Cult and Slaughter City

The Sun Cult developed by Keynes unexpectedly began supplying Lin Yang with faith power. Although he had originally favored inheriting existing godhoods rather than relying on worship, this discovery gave him another route to strengthen himself 194.

Before leaving for Slaughter City, he arranged for the Butterfly Mansion and Sun Cult to continue operating and prepared Infinite Space as a fallback. Xiao Wu insisted on accompanying him to become stronger 205.

Their mounting Hell Slaughter Arena victories led the King of Slaughter to delay their matches. Lin Yang recognized the obstruction as deliberate; later, he confronted Tang Chen and demonstrated Douluo-grade strength despite still having only six rings 209 216.

He favors practical improvements over spectacle. His preferred approach is to strengthen his blade until ordinary attacks become decisive, rather than collect elaborate offensive Soul Skills. He is nevertheless willing to learn from opponents, prolonging his first fight with Tang San to study Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track 13 18 149.

His affection for Su Xi is expressed through practical care: maintaining her home, leaving money, and visiting the neighbors who helped her. He abandons the idea of using his blood to extend her life after discovering that it would turn an ordinary person into a mindless, flesh-eating creature 17 24.

He can be calculating and ruthless without abandoning every moral restraint. He uses desirable potions as political leverage, yet refuses Shi Nian’s offer to hypnotize Shui Bing’er into submission and kills him instead 114 179.
