A vote

A rare smile appeared on the Doctor's face.

"Councilor, although I have no evidence to refute the video Mr. Adam provided!"

"I now seriously doubt the authenticity of Mr. Adam's video!"

"Let me show you all a live feed, and you'll understand!"

The images on the screens before everyone changed.

They were replaced by a live feed from inside a Containment Room.

In the footage, a boy with delicate features was busy with his head lowered.

He held a name badge in his hand and was writing something crookedly on it.

The camera zoomed in at that moment.

On the badge, the boy had written in crooked letters, "Serial number 069-Prison Doctor."

Then the camera focused on the boy's expression.

The boy was smiling brightly and muttering quietly.

"Prison Doctor will definitely like this badge!"

He then picked up the badge and left his Containment Room.

The camera followed Lu Xiao as he moved.

Lu Xiao made his way to the Prison Doctor's Containment Room with practiced ease.

He politely reached out and pressed the doorbell.

The door opened, and the Prison Doctor came out to greet him.

"My friend! What brings you to see me today?"

Lu Xiao smiled shyly and took the badge he had made himself out of his trouser pocket.

"Prison Doctor, I made this myself. I hope you like it!"

As he spoke, he took out his own badge and hung it around his neck.

The Prison Doctor froze, then hooked the badge over with one finger.

After examining it carefully, he hung the badge around his own neck as well.

"Thank you, my friend! I really like this little gift!"

The footage then ended.

Everyone who watched the video looked bewildered.

The Doctor spoke.

"This is serial number 292, whom Mr. Adam mentioned!"

"Everyone, do you think the 292 in my video and the supposed 292 in Mr. Adam's video are the same person?"

"Ever since we rescued 292 from the Dark Prison, he has been a very loving child!"

"He often makes little gifts himself and gives them to the Weird Life contained alongside him!"

"Those Contained Anomalies all like this child very much and affectionately call him their friend!"

"How could such a friendly, caring child do something so cruel?"

"What's more, 292 feels an extremely strong sense of belonging to the Containment Facility!"

"Look at his chest. He made that badge himself!"

Everyone paused, then looked at Lu Xiao's chest.

Sure enough, there was a badge there, with crooked lettering on it.

Adam, meanwhile, watched the Doctor with a smile.

"Doctor, this doesn't prove anything!"

"When dealing with a human who can survive in the Dark Prison, we clearly cannot judge his behavior by the thinking of a normal person!"

"I'm sure all the leaders present can judge the authenticity of the videos!"

"And the reason I showed that footage was simply because I questioned your competence!"

"Whether there was a problem with your containment or you made an error in assessing a Contained Anomaly's safety level!"

"Neither complies with our Prison Warden regulations!"

"Therefore, I ask you this: do you truly have the ability to contain an entity such as Sequence Number 09?"

"If something as serious as a containment breach involving 09 occurred, it would bring disaster upon the entire world!"

"Therefore, I believe transferring 09 to our A01 is the best choice!"

Adam's argument was well reasoned and supported.

Some who had originally planned to abstain now began to waver.

Others also began to doubt Adam.

After all, the Doctor's live feed was somewhat more convincing.

That boy was so sunny and cheerful.

There was simply no connecting him to that creature crawling grotesquely in the shadows.

The Councilor looked at the Doctor.

"Doctor, do you have any other evidence?"

The Doctor shrugged.

"Councilor, I have finished presenting my evidence!"

The Councilor nodded, then looked at Adam.

"Mr. Adam, may we begin the vote now?"

"As for the possible containment breach at C03, we will form an Investigation Team and initiate an investigation!"

Adam raised his hand.

"Councilor, we can begin voting!"

At the same time, two options appeared on the screen before each person.

One was approve, and the other was reject.

The voting period was five minutes.

Anyone who did not vote within five minutes would be considered to have abstained.

The voting figures updated in real time.

Soon, the votes in favor had reached nearly forty percent.

The Warden's tone was somewhat heavy.

"That move by Adam made most of those who would originally have abstained choose to approve!"

In these last few minutes, someone would privately offer them terms.

At the Round Table Conference, an issue decided by a vote could not be raised again for the next ten years.

Therefore, the outcome of this vote would determine who held 09 for the next ten years.

Soon, those who had yet to vote all received private communications from Adam.

For a time, the votes in favor soared.

They soon overtook the votes against.

Clearly, Adam had promised them astonishing benefits.

The Councilor announced the result at that moment.

"The motion passes! C03 Containment Facility, please arrange the handover as soon as possible!"

Hearing this result, the Warden and the Director found it somewhat hard to believe.

Even the Doctor's brows knitted tightly together.

Adam's unrestrained voice rang out.

The Doctor's voice no longer held any of its usual composure.

The last time he had sworn was when they were containing Lu Xiao.

The Warden spoke in a somewhat heavy voice.

"Did that person not step in?"

Hearing this, the Doctor immediately turned his gaze toward the seat belonging to the Highest Office, to a middle-aged man in a black suit.

At that moment, the man rested one hand on the table, lightly tapping its surface with his index finger.

Adam stood and bowed slightly toward the Councilor.

"Thank you, Councilor!"

Adam naturally knew the Round Table Conference's regulations.

Once Sequence Number 09 arrived at their A01, they could contain him for at least ten years.

As for the Containment Facilities in Huaxia wanting to take 09 back ten years later, that would essentially be impossible.

Adam had long since made plans to ruthlessly suppress Huaxia during the ten years in which it would be without 09.

After ten years, Huaxia would have lost the ability to compete with them.

The Councilor smiled at Adam.

"You're welcome, Mr. Adam!"

He then cleared his throat and announced.
